Another thing I found EXTREMLY curious in this book compared to the last five. In the previous installments, it had always seemed as if Harry would assume that he knew who was responsible for any wrongdoings or events. Their would always be a twist ending and Harry would be proved wrong. Meanwhile, in this installment, Harry hit everything right on the head. Even down to when Malfoy would strike and that he was in the room of requirements at the time that Trelawny was knocked back. It proved that DD was wrong in this case. Perhaps Harry has become far more enlightened and will prove better in discovering the Horcreuxs. All I know, is to never count out his ideas again.

Who knows if the remaining Horcruxes are still around? R.A.B may have destroyed more than one (assuming he destroyed the locket). I know it doesnt sound like that is the case given what the note says, but maybe, just maybe, Harry may have less work for him than he thinks...

Hmm that's a very good point. I hope you are right.
Someone said that Voldermort doesn't realise that anyone knows about his horcruxes.. I wonder how RAB found out? I'd be interested to know. Surely no matter how much he trusted his "servant" death eaters he'd never tell one of them, I suppose unless he requested (demanded?) their help in the creation of them.
Poor Sirius, he may not have realised just how "noble" the "noble house of Black" was after all.

Voldemort probably didn't tell Malfoy that the diary was a Horcrux, or Malfoy wouldn't have given a piece of Voldemort's soul to a "Mudblood" for any reason.
Now that I'm thinking about it, we know what happened when Harry destroyed the diary. Did something similar happen when Dumbledore destroyed the soul in Gaunt's ring (which burned his hand and arm), and is that what Harry will have to face every time he destroys another Horcrux?

Well, we don't really 'know' the energy needed to make a Horcrux in the first instance only that someone has to die ... so I would imagine destroying one will release a similar amount of force/energy to that needed to make it in the first instance. We don't know how DD managed to destroy the horcrux in the Gaunt ring do we, but my guess is that Harry will be placed in mortal dnger with each one he destroys, maybe even getting seriously hurt in the process. Book 7 promises to be a harrowing read I reckon ...

But Harry wasn't hurt at all when he destroyed the diary Horcrux, was he? I mean, his injuries came from the Basilisk, but the Riddle diary didn't do anything to the extent that happened with Dumbledore's hand. He just plunged the Basilisk fang in and the thing was destroyed... perhaps the one who is destined to kill Voldemort can destroy the Horcruxes without being hurt themselves?

hmmmmm that's an interesting theory Jo! I think the important thing here is how did DD destroy the horcrux ... what magic and/or sacrifice did he have to make to get the job done? Maybe Voldie passing some of his powers to Harry through his scar would have helped to shield Harry from the worst effects of the Diary's destruction?? Their wands share the same core though whether that was purely by accident or by design we may never know ... Ollivander is MIA Crickey ... we've got a looooooooong wait till find out the answers!

Do you think Voldemort et al would have taken Ollivander, to find out how to overcome the sister wand problem?

That's an excellent theory! I think that Ollivander went with the Death Eaters against his will. He didn't join during the last war when Voldemort had more followers and his side was stronger, so why go now?

.... or maybe DD told Ollivander to get himself out of harm's way before Voldie and his minions got hold of all the wands AND his knowledge about Harry's wand in particular .... ... curious ... very ... curious ...

Of course the nice wizards could always alohomora at Ollivander's locks and then leave money for the wands they selected.... but they need the "wand chooser" - I know that the wand chooses the Wizard etc etc but Mr O was very helpful in that choosing

How do they alohomora without a wand Yes maybe Harrys 'connection' (I still think he's a horcurx) helps him.

This is one thing I can't get over...how helpless they become without a wand. I find it odd that Dumbledore couldn't do anything to help himself against even little Malfoy without a wand, whereas underage wizards are always doing odd things without wands - like Harry and the dissappearing glass at the Zoo, and jumping up on top of buildings to get out of fights etc... it's not normal

I think the wand is the focus although I am surely DD could do some magic without it although it would surely need a lot of concentration which might have been difficult in the circumstances. Didn't Harry do something without his wand once, I can't remember it wasn't in the ally with the dememtors

DD made no attempt to save himself, other than to talk Draco out of it. It could have been because he was too weak from that green liquid he drank or it could have been an Obi Wan moment. You know the 'strike me down and I will become more powerful.........' or words to that effect. Oh and one dead sweet thing that happened today and I wasn't sure where else to put it. My Dad has just started OotP. He has got up to the detention part and is absolutely convinced Umbridge is Voldemort taking polyjuice potion! I think that is just so sweet (and if you knew my Dad I bet you would too) and to his credit it was something I never considered at the time

I am confused. Did that make him out to be a good guy or a bad guy?
But the whole Harry as a Horcrux makes sense to me. I mean, she doesn't want to go on writing after book 7, right? So what better way to assure that happens by killing Harry. He would still be a hero, but would no longer be alive to write more books about him. As sad as that is.
