I think that would be a good idea but only if you do.  There has been a lot of discussion that may have changed peoples minds one way or t'other.

Thank you  Grin

Predictions
1). Godric's Hollow will be the site of one Horcrux as it will be found to be the site/area where Godric Griffindor lived - possibly his house or a cave dwelling or one piece of his furniture

2). At least 1 Weasley will die - possibly Percy but more likely Molly

3). The trio will go to the wedding then the Dursleys then Grimmauld Place. At which point they will confide to Lupin and/or Tonks who convince them to go back to Hogwarts because of the still powerful incantantions on the schools to protect it against outside magic and beaucse Harry will have been left the Pensieve and other information in Dumbledore's will

4). Other members of the old DA will become involved and there is a chance that Neville's parents may be restored to sanity and health

5). Luna or Seamus may die in the midst of destroying one of the Horcruxes

6). Multiple battles at the end with 2 or more of the scooby gang attacking the snake. Somehow Snape and Wormtail will become involved and one will sacrifice himself to kill the snake. Harry and Voldemort battle but Hermione also attacks Voldemort thus allowing Harry to kill. The act of killing Voldemort will split Harry's soul and weakened by the fight he may well drift into a death-like coma to meet Sirius and Dumbledore and James and Lily

Probability  Low

Roll Eyes  Hello, I would like to respond to the message that said that maybe Harry is the last horcruxe.  I believe that Harry's scar may be the last horcruxe. I also think that it will come down to maybe Neville having to "kill" harry inorder to destroy it, and ultimately kill voldemort.  Neville loves his parents and because of this love he will be more likely to be able to do what needs to be done. where as Hermione and Ron won't be able to kill harry or to attempt it because they love harry and neither have had voldemort directly harm one of their loved ones (besides bill). I also believe that RAB is Sirius's Brother Regulas. He was mentioned in Book 5 as well as quite a few times in book 6.  I believe that the necklace is already in the Black house and is the ornate lockate that nobody could open that was mentioned in book 5 when the Weasley's and Harry were cleaning out a cabinet.  I think that Kreatcher took the lockate out of the trash and hid it in his nest. I may be wrong, Embarrassed But that is what I think.  Wink

Wink Hi again I just wanted to reply to rns91294, you said something about DD's arm and hand being burned.  If it (the arm) is in fact dead, then maybe the AC curse wouldn't work on it. maybe DD held his arm up to his chest and the curse rebounded off of it. it could have knocked DD out and knocked him off of the tower as well. Then Fawkes showed up and caught DD and lowered him to the ground.  Just a thought but can the AC curse kill something that is already dead?   Smiley I also want to believe that Snape is "good"   Praying I think that he was doing what DD asked him (or ordered) him to do. He DD made it clear to Harry that sometimes you have to follow orders that you don't want to. Because you simply have to. I am probably wrong but thats my thoughts. lol

Hello again,  I always have had a soft spot for Snape! Kiss Don't know why though Huh My friends think I am crazy, (for being supportive of Snape) So heres to being crazy! Grin A few of them have a couple of good ideas also about the HBP. One of Dennis's ideas is this.... remember when Harry tried to curse Bellitrix?  She told him that it wouldn't work if he didn't mean it. So if you have to mean it for the curse to work, and Snape didn't mean it when he cursed D, then maybe the curse didn't work on D.  It is amazing that my friends don't have an oppinion until I give them one of mine!  ROFL! Well it is nice to be able to tell someone my speculations, and I am proud to be in the Snape is innocent society. Thanks for responding rose

I was worried that it would mean Harry would have to die. But I think the horcruxs have to be sorted before LV can be killed. I hope she doesn't kill Harry. We should all sign a packed not to nag for more stories as long as Harry gets to live Wink

I believe that all of the horcruxes will indeed have to be destroyed. Then when LV is "killed" Harry's scar will be the last HC so somewone will have to destroy the "scar" not necessarily Harry.  I believe that it will have to be Neville who is destined to try to destroy the scar because neither Ron or Hermione will be able to.

I think that the Horcruxes are in the following places:

1. LV himself (of coursc)
2. Harry's Scar ( LV created this when his curse backfired, but he couldn't use harry when he was a baby, so he has had to wait until now)
3. I think that Nagini is at LV fathers house
4. I think the Locket is at the Noble House of Black (Grimald place)
5. I think that the Hufflepuff cup is probably at the orphanage somewhere, prob. in LV old room, although, LV hid the locket near the orphanage so this may not be the case
6. the diary was at Hogwarts
7. the ring was presumable at LV mothers.

again just a few wild guesses  Huh But I like to keep trying! Grin  please let me know what you think...all my friends think that I'm nuts!! so there is no place but up from there! lol

What does concern me is that DD said Harry would always have the scar. Well at least in the film he did.  Undecided

Some interesting speculation... note that when they talk about the cave where the horcrux (locket) was in, they say that 2 people are needed to breach the security and only one of them can be a wizard...definitely not true!!

Potter wizards on the hunt - 'Half-Blood Prince' cliff-hangers have fans re-reading the series, hoping for clues to book 7

September 8, 2005

Now what?

Almost two months after the unveiling of J.K. Rowling's sixth and penultimate chronicle of the wizarding world, diehard fans are coping with severe "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" hangovers.

Eager for some more hair of the three-headed dog that bit them, many wonder how to occupy themselves over the next couple of years before the arrival of still-unnamed book seven. The logical choice? Time to re-read the entire canon in a hunt for overlooked passages and illuminating clues.

To that end, here are some theories about the most vexing questions that remain, culled from message boards and fan sites. But be forewarned: Hagrid-sized spoilers follow.

How many horcruxes? One major revelation in "Half-Blood Prince" is that Lord Voldemort tried to ensure his immortality by splitting his soul, then embedding the pieces in objects or individuals called horcruxes. Tom Riddle's weird diary from "Chamber of Secrets" was one; a ring originally belonging to Salazar Slytherin and destroyed by Dumbledore in "Half-Blood Prince" was another.

Seven being a magic number, Dumbledore theorizes that Voldemort created six horcruxes, the seventh piece of his shattered soul still residing in You-Know-Who himself. In the final book, Harry will need to destroy the four remaining horcruxes before attempting a facedown.

Since a murder is required to make a horcrux, one speculation is that Harry was inadvertently made into a horcrux when Voldemort killed his parents, which explains why he has acquired some of Voldemort's powers. Another iteration has Harry's scar as the actual horcrux, leaving open the more pleasant possibility that only it, and not all of Harry, need be destroyed in order to off Voldy.

Other possible horcruxes, some more likely than others: Nagini the snake from "Chamber of Secrets," Hufflepuff's goblet, the Sorting Hat, the sword of Gryffindor (like the hat, located in Dumbledore's office), even Wormtail's magical silver hand.

Who is R.A.B.? In "Half-Blood Prince," Harry and Dumbledore travel to a mysterious cave in the hopes of finding a horcrux; instead, they recover a fake horcrux - an empty locket - and a note taunting Voldemort that is signed "R.A.B."

Do those initials belong to the now-dead Regulus Alphard Black, brother to Harry's godfather, the much-mourned Sirius? It's a conclusion Rowling herself has called "a fine guess." Since breaching the cave's magical spells requires two people, only one of which can be a wizard, many have speculated that the Black family house elf, Kreacher, helped Regulus retrieve the original horcrux-locket.

In "The Order of the Phoenix," a heavy locket that cannot be opened is found among the Black family possessions. Hmmm.

Will Dumbledore pull a Gandalf? The ultimate spoiler - don't blame me if you don't stop reading now - is that at the end of "Half-Blood Prince," ill-tempered professor Severus Snape murders beloved Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore.

Though a proper funeral was had and Dumbledore's snoozing image has appeared in a portrait on his office wall of departed headmasters, some fans advance the argument that, like the popular "Lord of the Rings" wizard, Dumbledore will reappear after his death, whether real or faked. For convincing arguments, visit the bereaved fans at www .dumbledoreisnotdead.com.

More likely to surface in book 7: Dumbledore's low-key brother, Aberforth, who had been prosecuted for practicing "inappropriate charms on a goat" (don't ask), and is the barkeep at the Hog's Head Inn.

Snape - good or evil? The answer to this hinges on whether you think Dumbledore's death was a pact between the two, a necessary sacrifice to ensure Voldemort does not suspect Snape's betrayal. Or whether you believe Snape was a double-double agent, convincing the wise but trusting Dumbeldore that he was defying Voldemort's orders to spy on Hogwarts, but in truth keeping his promise to the Dark Lord.

Then there is the "crush" theory. Rowling has hinted there was someone else at Godric's Hollow the night Harry's parents died. And it was out of character for cranky Voldemort to give Lily Potter so many chances to step aside before he attempted to kill her son.

Was Snape at Godric's Hollow, and was it at his request that Voldemort agreed to spare Lily? And is that why Snape resents Harry so deeply - because Harry, with his mother's green eyes, reminds Snape of the woman who died in order for Harry to live?

Will Harry survive book 7? Optimists look to a line in "Goblet of Fire" in which Harry sees a "gleam of triumph" in Dumbledore's eyes after the old wizard learns Voldemort used a drop of Harry's blood to regenerate himself. Dumbledore has told Harry that wizards saved by another of their kind have a "life debt." Perhaps now Voldemort has this magical IOU to Harry - with happy-ending-inducing results.

On the Web, just wild about Harry

There's no shortage of sites where you can find Potterheads prognosticating. Beware of wild theories - Neville's crazy mother is not sending him secret messages on those candy wrappers, and Snape is not a vampire - and maybe concoct a few of your own:

www.jkrowling.com - Herself's very own site. Lots of tidbits if you poke around, including why Harry's wand is made of holly (tradition is, it repels evil), while Voldemort's is yew (long lived, but its sap is poisonous).

www.mugglenet.com - Talk about juice: Emerson Spartz, the 19-year-old founder of this authoritative fan site, was one of only two people granted a private interview with Rowling when "Half-Blood Prince" debuted. The discussion forums can get as weighty as a grad class, from "Voldemort, the Ourobouros Worm, and the Legend of Kronos" to "Fudge & Machiavelli."

www.hp-lexicon.org - What Rowling herself has called "my natural home," and an indispensable destination if you need to brush up on characters and plot lines. Searchable by key word ("butterbeer," "Slughorn") or category ( "Wizards A to Z," "Magical and Mundane Plants"), it's positively encyclopedic.

http://scholastic.com/harrypotter/books/ pronunciation/play.htm - Who knew Voldemort has a silent "T"? Before you botch "boggart" and "animagus," too, consult this Scholastic guide.

www.quick-quote-quill.org - A compendium of interviews and quotes from the reclusive author, who often debunks theories on her own (including the two mentioned above).

Thanks for that FTY.  I hadn't given Kreacher a thought but that could be a good solution.

I am not convinced we are looking for as many Horcrux as we seem to think.  The known ones are definitely

1   The diary
2   The ring
3   The locket

Lord Voldemort makes 4, so it seems we are looking for another 3.  But when LV was hit by the reflected curse at Godrics Hollow wouldn't this have killed the bit of soul inside him then, hence his sorry state.  That would mean that when he was resurrected with Harrys blood in the graveyard one of the three missing horcrux would have to have been used to bring him back to life.  Assuming you can only spread a soul so far and LV can't make any more, I think we are only looking for 2.  I think they are the the Hufflepuff Goblet and either the Gryffindor Sword or Hogwarts itself (I still really don't want it to be Harry).

(little interesting fact - I have just spell checked this and the dictionary has Hogwarts in it  Grin )

Aaaahhh, what a great question!  Each of the books may hold the clue to a horcrux!  Diary for COS, Locket for OOP, ring for HBP, Scar for SS?, what for GOF?  Maybe that could be how JKR planned it.  Huh

That could be true, but that would mean that Voldemort had enough soul to split at that point.  I was under the impression that he made all 6 horcruxes pretty close together.  I'll have to think about this a bit.  Maybe we could make a timeline of when we think each horcrux was made.  You may be right on that.  I just assumed that they were made one right after the other.  Huh

Also POA not sure about that. But it really does seem a JK thing to do that they would all be hidden one in each book along the way Undecided. Answers on a postcard.
