Maybe they're planning to do this Memorable Moments set and then another one for the last three movies.

I want more info about the costumes and props, but I love the box (even if it's heavy and will cost more to ship) and the auto line-up sounds great.  Some people may not be thrilled with another Hermione auto, but I'm happy to have another chance at getting one. :)  The McGonagall and Lucius Malfoy autos are long overdue, too.

Are all the costume Dual Costume cards? If so then what would they be? Mostly dual costumes have something in common :-\ Or will it be like a Dual Hermione with two Emma swatches :-X

This looks like an exciting set (obvious statement of the year). Huge kudos to Artbox for being able to get Maggie Smith and Eric Sykes to sign! :-* The one thing I noticed was the DE auto/costumes...

1. Don't we already get these in GoFU?
2. Exactly how many DE items are there?

The signers list looks fabulous, but if we have say, 200 premium autos (Hermy, McG, Lucius, Sykes) and 500 DEs, I don't think very many collectors will be impressed, especially if they are pretty much replicated from the GoFU set. Also, as this is a premium set, box prices will be significantly higher. I don't fancy paying $80-90 (my speculation of the price) for a box only to get a duplicate. All this is purely speculation on my part, so I do hope I ma wrong :o=

Just got word from tom that cases are at $680. Ive ordered 1 case as with those resin boxes, shipping to Australia is going to be huge.  :(

I'd only buy from dealers you trust as well - with 375 cases, allocation for this set will be very tight and many pre-sells may not be able to deliver if they don't get allocated what they've ordered.

And get in quick! (So says FTY with the Aussie case secured ;) )

If it is a duplicate of GoF, GoFU, SS, and PoA then I don't think many people and collectors will continue to buy it. I'm buying one box as I do with every Potter set but this will be to see how it is and if I'll buy more but I agree with you Jo. I'd have to pay almost 100 dollars, when all you'll be paying for is the box and print run, and get the same cards over and over ::) But if like you just said that it'll go fast then I'll have to see what the set has to offer other then the Emma auto for me :P

The thing is, it will be difficult to buy one box, go, 'I really like it, let's get another' if the set is in as much demand as I think it will be. Once on the open market, I think  prices will go nuts and you'd be looking at paying perhaps maybe even double the pre-sell. If we are looking at $70 pre-sell, I can imagine it could go up to $100 at the very least. So it's a gamble - get in now with a big order and have more chance of getting what you want BUT risk spending a fortune if it bombs OR buy a box now and have no chance of getting more if you decide to get some more later.

Fhrist, those Artbox vampires need to stop sucking my wallet dry (I opened it up and could swear I saw cobwebs in it with little 'Made by Artbox' tags...hm, maybe they'll be collectable :p). *sigh* So, wonder how many chase (and by chase I don't mean foil cards or any of that crud, I mean auto, prop, or costume cards) we can expect from each box. *sigh* I need to get a better paying job.

I'll believe they can get this out so quickly when I see them on the doorstep.

Who said the Goblet of Fire Update would be released at the same time as the DVD.
Who said the Poster Set would arrive in March (rumour is now June).
Who said there would be 2 Zorro sets last year, and produced none.
Who said there would be a Frankenstein set in October, now maybe June.

I just don't see them getting it done so quickly.  Harry Potter is their cash cow right now, so I'm sure they'll do it.  But I'm guessing we have a bit to save before this one gets released.

A September release would work MUCH better for me!  I'd really like a Maggie Smith auto!  I saw her in Lettice and Loveage in 1988 when I was in London....

I'm feeling pretty panicked about it, too.  How are collectors supposed to pay for one release and while chasing inserts for that set, put up more money to pay for a different release?  And then do the same thing again the next month?  This is not a good business decision.  People won't give Artbox more of their money -- they'll spend the same amount but spread it out over all of the releases.

Having said that, I think Memorable Moments sounds awesome.  If Chamber of Secrets comes out a month or two later, though, I'm afraid I'll have to pass and hope I can find a few cards on eBay.

The only thing that makes sense for me would be a release of MM in late August if they really want to release MM and CoS this year. Then the plan should be May GOFU, August MM, November CoS, right before Christmas. 3 months between every release. Then they can have anything in February before the big OOTP-release will be in May 2007. That would be my plan, if i would be the manager of Artbox. CoS before November would be definately a wrong decision.  :-\

Artbox had a nice schedule with releases in May and November (approximately).  There was plenty of time to have fun with one release and then save up for the next.  GOFU in May, MM in August, and COS in November is okay, although I'd like a little more time between releases.  The OOTP movie is scheduled to open in July 2007, so Artbox could issue some of the specialty/limited edition sets during the winter and spring before the OOTP cards are released in July.

Yes, of course i agree, this would be better. I just wanted to say that 3 months between every release is the acceptable minimum, better are 6 months, that's right.

Three months between releases would definitely be better than one every month.  I just can't believe they'd even consider that schedule.  You're right about the OOTP release -- most likely the cards will be shipped a month before the movie.  Still, that would give Artbox about five months in 2007 to release a couple of the smaller sets.

I totally agree with everyone else - this is just too much.  There is only a certain amount of money to go around and if Artbox keep swamping the market people will get disheartened and stop collecting altogether.  Of course I expect this will have a knock on effect for the dealers - they will buy their usual amount of say GOFU which will sell out but by the time COS comes around the collectors will be broke and the dealers will be left with a load of stock.  When OotP comes out dealers will simply not risk getting stuck with large amounts of stock and stop ordering so much from Artbox.  I know this is a looking way into the future but it is really something Artbox should consider.  We all want every set but they must give us time to go out and earn/save the money to buy them.

Not to mention only a certain amount of quality insert cards.  How many HP sets can Artbox produce every year and still expect customer anticipation?  There has to be a point when collecters get sick of pulling prop cards # out of 1000 that just contain Burlap material from every set.  I mean, I really think the highlights of the MM set (Maggie Smith, Jason Issacs, Emma Watson) are absolute jems.  But, I can't imagine these HP sets maintaining collector viability (3 times a year) because of only a few keynote elite cards.  I think the success of a series of cards should be judged as heavily on the "low" end cards as it does the "high" end. 

I guess I just don't want to see Artbox reach the point where they secure a few "big"/"billboard" name cards to highlight (re: sell) each set.  Then just kind of fill in the blanks with as many generic insert cards as they can produce to fulfill insert ratios. 

Being a fan of Emma Watson (go ahead, check out my user name  ;)) I am thrilled with the opportunity to have another shot at pulling one of her autographs.  But at the same time, even I am reaching the point where I may start groaning when I see "Emma Watson, HP Artbox Autograph part VII"

I just noticed that potomac are taking orders at $77 (£43.92) a box for Memorable moments

so once you add shipping to the Uk and tax it is about £55 a box so my estimate of around £60 in the Uk may not be that far off

cause if you buy from Potomac i have always had to pay tax on shipments from them

Edit ... ahh so not such a good seller to use if you need *cough*help*cough* with the documentation to ship stuff to the UK then ... :-\

£55-£60 per box is too much to pay with the GOFu set due out soon IMHO and I doubt many collectors in the UK will be buying them at those kinds of prices ... shame too given the line-up of autos they have for the set. :-\
I can say with certainty that there will be VERY brisk bidding on :ebay: once the cases have been cracked open - get your boxing gloves at the ready for some dirty fighting to get the cards you want! ::) :-[

It will be very interesting to see how collectors take to this set.  People have been clamoring for a repeat of POA hysteria and nothing Artbox has done since then has come close.  We know that MM production is limited and some of the autos will sell for a lot of money, but is that enough to carry the set?  We need to see good costumes and props, too.

Chris used too many negatives in his sentance and confused us all :P He must mean (with so many negatives) that he's always had to pay import tax.

Last time I bought from Potomac I pre-paid my taxes to them to save the hassle and to get fast delivery ;D


There will never be such hysteria again. If Artbox made a set limited to 200 cases it would not cause as much hysteria as PoA. Firstly when PoA came out - if you wanted anything that remotely resembled a decent HP card it had to be from that set. Now if you miss out on a set you can buy the other Hermione auto or some things from another set. It will never be repeated.

Secondly they haven't done hotboxes again... I think hotboxes in this set would add the buzz that this set really needs, sure dealers are buying it, but if Artbox wants continuing loyalty from dealers I believe that they have to create secondary market 'buzz' about their sets, and a limited number of hotboxes of this set would certainly do that. What do you think?

I'm hoping for some costumes we haven't seen yet:  Quirrell (his turban, in particular), Sirius, Moody, Snape, and Hooch.  I'm not sure what props haven't been done yet.  This set should also be our first look at COS inserts.

I think hot boxes for this set would be great, as long as they doesn't contribute to the dud box problem.  Artbbox did a good job nearly eliminating the problem by the time GOF came out and I'd hate to see them backtrack.  The hot boxes should be unmarked, so everyone has a slim chance of getting one.  Although, the rigid design of the MM box might make it very difficult to fit all of the inserts inside -- the regular boxes have a little bit of give to them.

as for Hot boxes if they said they would be in the Memorable Moments set then I think that people would be a bit more enthusiastic. But the truth is that if they actually just told us the details of the set we would be able to decide on how we are going to approach this product


I love the idea of a maggie smith auto but if she signs just a few then will we see this rise to the price of harry auto. I hope so.

if she just signed 100 cards that would be 1 in 4 cases which ain't that bad compared to pulling a triple in the POAU set.

it was said that for POAU Dan Raddcliff only signed 65 so if she signed that amount then it is only 1 in 6 cases

I am hoping that if the number of inserts per case are uped then if she was to sign 375 cards there would be one per case which would be fab for collectors

or maybe they should do it so that you have a hot case. What i mean is that in a case you get a complete set of everything that would make this set worth buying by the case for collectors

I would think that it could be difficult for Artbox to collate an entire case into the 'hot box' format.  But I LOVE the idea.  That certainly would drum up interest and excitement over case purchasing.  Ideally, if there would be anyway in which Artbox could develop unidentifiable (externally at least) hotboxes/cases, I think that would be most beneficial for collectors. 

The only problem I can forsee with this....and it really is negligible and not a 'problem' really....

Assuming that Artbox were to create a "hot-case" style product, it would be much more tempting for collectors/dealers to purchase a large number of cases and then open, say, two boxes from each case.  By all thoughts, the pulls from these first two boxes would be enough to indicate a hot/not hot case.  If the case does not appear to be "hot", then the remaining 8 boxes could then be sold on ebay etc. 

Though this would certainly also be a great incentive for those collectors purchasing large numbers of cases....so really I'm not putting down the idea.

I really do think this will be a good set but with it being so near another potter set i am just a bit worried it will damage GOFU and itself as it is making us spread our money too thin especially after the amount spent on evolution

i would really like to have some idea of what is the final line up for GOFU and some more info on the MM set so I can decide how to spend my money

We have been done on sets in the past were they look good and then end up being very poor and after all the only experience of a potter Update set was not a plesant one ;)

I can understand that from a dealer point of view.  You have to be able to make money on a set.  I happen to love POAU.  The cards were great, there were lots of variants, and there was something for everyone to collect.  The big mistake was the print run.  If Artbox could combine the creativity of the POAU cards with a more limited print run, the set should do very well.  If I recall correctly, Artbox has never released the print runs for individual cards.  We only got that info after people started cracking cases.

Yeah i know it is a great looking set but it ended up putting a lot of people out of business and actually i think bankrupted a few people too. Art box did release the number of cards for Charlie and the Chocolate factory, so why not with the potter sets

I have a good feeling about GOFU but I will still be worried until after I have opened my cases and proved it is a good product for me

PoAU is a great set to look at now, but to collect from cases it was an absoloute farce and made a mockery of the trading card industry in general.

Whilst GoFU has been set at 750 or 700 cases (I forget which), so we know that each card will be relatively rare. Whilst Artbox pulled a fast one with PoAU by overproducing one set and flooding the market, their current 'tactic' is to flood the market with lots of different cards which (they hope) we'll all impulsively want to collect.

They are in very serious danger of just alienating us all - remember LOTS of people gave up collecting because of PoAU, because there were too many to collect and they were too few and far between (except for the 2000+ cards) , and  I think that flooding the market in this 'new' direction will keep us entertained for a brief while, but not long term... especially after a LOT of us spent the money we'd saved up for GoFU on LOTR Evo :rofl:

well I have lots of auctions finishing today so maybe my Evolution sketches will sell well enough for me to be able to buy my potter cards

If Artbox follows through with its plan to release GOFU in May, MM in June, and COS in July or August, there definitely will be a lot of alienated customers.

Don't know if this information is useful, but my friend spoke with the kind folks at Potomac and they said that the Memorable Moments set has only been listed on their site for about week, if that, and they are getting many orders.

With only 375 cases, it should sell out quickly even though we don't have a lot of info about the set.

Anyway with a case price from Potomac of $799 a case (£450) I think it is not actually that expensive when you think that GOFU is $589 (£331)
and this is supposed to be a premium product

I noticed the box price increased from yesterday at Potomac (77 to 81).  Wonder if the increase doesn't reflect the demand/popularity.  They also said that this set is garnering increased interest compared to other sets.  I've seen the picture of the box in the price guide and really like it--does anyone know what it's made out of? Cardboard, plastic, tin, etc.  Thought I read somewhere that its makeup was different from other boxes.  Could've been seeing things...wouldn't surprise me.   ::)

What we have heard so far it is Resin  so I assume it is Cast resin (so plastic)  ::)

We watched POA again the other night. Remember when Draco "sketched" Harry being terrorized by dementers and oragamed the sketch and had it fly over to Harry to goad him. That sketch would make a fantastic PROP card. Qualifier: Provided they didn't use all the white paper ala Cake Box.

I think Mike was asking if Artbox would release info about the Memorable Moments set after GOFU is released. :)   Artbox has released a lot of info about the GOFU cards -- we know about almost all of the cards in the set -- so I think we'll be hearing much more about MM in June.  The current release date for MM is late June.

Yes, and with the "never" comment. I was talking about we've only got snippets of info on cards and nothing else. Yes, the card are the best part of the set, no doubt, but it would be nice to know everything about a set, and I mean everything ::)

I really think that for GoFU we have one of the most comprehensive lists we've ever had.

Just to let everyone know, Potomac is apparently no longer taking pre-orders on this set (they removed the option from their website today).

I'm not sure about other distributors, but I've found that Potomac is a pretty good barometer for the availability and selling rate of these sets.

Just thought you might want to know, in case you're thinking about pre-ordering. 

I only managed to secure 2 cases which was half of my original GOFU Allocation my distributor was sold out one week after the set was announced.

I have to say I am not supprised that they are sold out most places or that people can't get what they ordered. I have placed an order but who knows how many cases i will get. I could take pre orders but they would have to be only if i get enough to fill the orders there is no way of knowing and they ain't cheap here in the UK

True.  They won't be cheap in the US, either.  The box price is higher and the shipping will cost more due to the resin boxes.

I stretched and pre-ordered a couple of boxes at about $79/box  :o when they first came out.  Literally one day after I pre-ordered at that price, they had gone up to about $81.  They are crazy expensive and, I agree, it is likely because of the collector resin boxes...and I'm hoping they are higher because of some extraordinary inserts.  :o=

Anyone still have boxes available for pre-order in the US? I'm trying to pre-order a few more now (maybe 3). Most sellers have them all sold out already :-\.

I think most dealers are playing this one very carefully, as the whole allocation thing can get very messy, and most dealers want to have some boxes to save back in case they go through the roof in prices.  good luck, someone should have some somewhere.

I was wondering the other night--if Hermione (Emma Watson) is, in fact, signing for this series, wouldn't it be kind-of cool to have her autograph card feature pictures of her from Years one through four? I like the idea of a card commemorating all the films and showing their changes through the years.  What do you think? (Not sure how they would do it on one card, but I don't think about logistics.  ;)).

If they did that, and it would be one awsome card, it would probably be 4 head shots on one card like you see on the Fred and George autos

You're right--the pictures could go along the top half of the card and she could sign along the bottom like Fred and George.  That would look beautiful!


There really is so much that could be done with this set and future MM sets.  I think we could see some really spectacular cards!  :)

This set of HP cards sounds like it could have a lot of potential if done right and let's hope they do do it right for all us hard-core HP fans,as like anything if done badly they will lose a lot of  loyal collectors aswell as the obvious a huge financial loss.

I'm hoping they won't make that mistake again.  Sorcerer's Stone and Goblet were much, much better, and I think they hit it just right for Goblet Update--there really isn't a card I would be displeased with pulling. Plus, you could be pretty confident that there are at least two inserts in each box.   :D

I can't imagine they would take ten steps back after taking one hundred steps forward...at least I hope not.  :P

Yup!  I actually emailed Artbox this month about this situation - the sets too close together - so I'm VERY relieved!

More time may mean more surprise cards!  :o=.  I am really looking forward to seeing what they have come up with for MM.  It should be something a bit different from the previous releases--maybe some unique props or double, triple, or quad cards.  Something that commemorates and celebrates the success of the films up to this point. 

I would love for them to start brainstorming for a spectacular set after ALL the films are complete--maybe a Professors auto card (McG, Snape, and Dumbledore); A James Potter, Sirius Black, Wormtail, and Lupin auto card; things like that, maybe.  The possibilities are endless and so much fun to dream about.  The things they can do with such a set are absolutely mind-boggling.   :o

Yeah I really hope they go to town on this one they have opened the gateway now by producing the quad card. I would like to see something like costumes with pieces of costume from each of the film like say a Harry with one costume swatch from each of the films. Or a yuleball moments card with a piece of costume from Harry, Ron and Hermione.
Possibilities are limitless.

Yeah, the quad card is nice and all, but I really don't want Artbox to have too many super premium cards.  The majority of us don't have deep pockets for that kind of stuff.  A few of them are fine, but I really hope they don't go crazy with the quad costume, quad auto, auto/costume, double prop, quad prop, etc.  Honestly, if I had pulled a quad I would have sold it in a second. (Yikes, blasphemy!)
I would just be happy with some costumes from some characters we haven't seen yet.  I know everyone loves Harry and Hermione costumes, but I would like to see Flitwick, Quirrel, Hootch, Snape, and some really good props that really pertain to the story in the movie.

if they did produce a triple costume card it wouldnt have to be rare if you think some of the Fleur Costumes were limited to /1025, if they were to produce cards like I suggested earlier it could be entirely likely they could be made into attainable pieces for everyone.
Now the presedent has been set with the Quad we will now be sure to see more of these super premium cards produced. Any way it is the chance of finding these awesome cards which makes busting boxes and Collecting so much fun.

The quad card is nice and all, but I would rather have some killer props and or costumes along with some autos we haven't had yet!  :-\ I know this was posted somewhere else, but I would like to see something Mr. and Mrs. Weasley!! I don't care what...costume or auto... but they have been there throughout!!  :o=

How about some PROPs from the WEASLEY home, the Burrow? Tons of good stuff. Autos from Mr and Mrs Weasley. Then we'd have the whole Fam Damily.

Those are really some good ideas, John.  I would love to see some props from Knockturn Alley, even Diagon Alley. How about the Mrs. Weasley clock prop from the Burrow--probably not likely?  I have been wondering for a while why we haven't seen Mr. and Mrs. Weasley autos--I love their characters.

Howdy guys looks like I got a right debate going, dont get me wrong I love the variety of sets and I too hope we get some new and different characters in this set. I was just suggesting how the boundaries might be pushed for this release going on the fact of the resin boxes and all. Dont forget these boxes are a fair bit more expensive than normal and for that alone we should hope to find some special cards in this release to justify its pricetag.
I collect sports cards as well and they regularly produce sets with 2,3,4, or more autos and jerseys on a card this has also seeing this as a regular occurence I guess I am immune to some of the hype. Also I have always been a big card chaser.
I am also veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery excited about this set and just want every one to get some ace cards.  :o=

Actually I don't have any problem at all with super premium cards being put in the MM set.  At around 300+ cases it really SHOULD have some pretty rare ones.  I just hope they don't get carried away with the other normal HP sets.  With the hype that the quad has been making I just hope they focus on some nice variety of inserts and don't get caught up in the "how much stuff can we put on one card" thing.  :P
BTW, the weasley stuff would make some OUTSTANDING costume and prop cards!  ;D

I agree.  Paying such a high price for a box, I would want to have at least a chance at pulling something spectacular, but in the alternative have some really special inserts that everyone has a reasonable chance of pulling.  Frankly, I would love for there to be a guaranteed three inserts per box for this set, along with the two gold coins.  Probably unlikely, but for such a special set at such a premium price, I think it would be a nice tradeoff. Maybe a Filmcard, Prop, and Costume OR Filmcard, Costume and Autograph combo.  I know, I know, wishful thinking.  ::)

I wish they would do the resin boxes more like the tins that they did before, so that like Chris said the "case breakers" don't get stuck with a ton of heavy resin boxes that cost a fortune to ship back and forth.  I like the idea, but would prefer it to be more like the tins from the first sets.  Just my thoughts.  I do still want the coins in every box, I like that idea :)

I like the idea of a collectible box, but I don't like how it would affect the price of not only the box, but also the shipping.  The dealers will have to pay more to have cases shipped to them, and then they have to charge even more for the box and to ship to collectors.  I can also understand why case buyers are a bit dismayed at the thought of having 10 resin boxes to sell or throw out.

I wouldn't mind a box to have in my collection, but could not imagine having a load of them and trying to find something to do with them :-\  I also don't like how it raises the prices.

Well, if they do make the resin boxes I am going to use them to sell my extra base sets. Maybe they will have a use after all. Much more attractive than a plastic box.

I would be guessing end of July Start of august. Unless they push it back more cus of GOFU. Also although nothing official again there seems to be more buzz coming through of the COS set.

Nothin much just the speculation on when that will come out and what impact that will have on the MM release date. It was just gossip on the NSU forum. Like I said no details just speculation about release dates, more people seem to be mentioning it more in other forums posts.
However it is on the NSU release date thingy as in August, which isnt going to happen because they had MM as being out in June.

The last I heard CoS was a Oct/Nov release so it's not likely to tread on the toes of MM.

It's a good thing Artbox pushed back the releases.  It just didn't make sense to have GOFU in April, MM in June and COS in August, then not have another big release until OOTP in June or July 2007.

My feelings exactly I am struggling to keep up with all the releases at the moment a new one seems to be announced every week. I just hate manufacturers announcing a set without any concrete details I dont see the logic from a dealer point of view I feel frustrated when I cant give any details and at times I know more than my distributors.

I think it's kind of scary that, at one point, Artbox actually expected to release COS in June and have three major HP sets and the poster card set all released within a three or four-month period. ::)  I guess it shouldn't be surprising that MM has been pushed back to October.  The set is supposed to have some coin cards (I think they're taking the place of the filmcards we usually see) and we haven't received those yet from the poster card set.  Never mind that some of the intact costumes and props were on display in San Diego just a few weeks ago.

The release date is in October sometime.  I had e-mailed Potomac about it because there seemed to be a lot of speculation from August to October. 

They e-mailed back and confirmed an October release.   :-\. 


I agree.  I was thinking about the coin cards the other night. With all the pushbacks, I hope the coin cards will be in the boxes and not as a redemption.

Nooooooooo!  No more redemptions! :P  It isn't as if we were talking about a good auto that needed a redemption.  They're just coins that are being fabricated for a trading card release, not actual props.

Oh, I know! It would be awful to wait this long for the set and have redemption cards!  :P.  But, I would think that if EVERY box is supposed to have two coins, then perhaps, like costume cards, they will be in there.  In fact, that could be part of the reason for the delay. Hopefully!  :o=

Hi everyone.  I've been reading plenty of messages but this my first post.  I have casually collected most of the previous HP card sets.  I would like to buy my first sealed box but am wondering about strategy.  Is it a better idea to start with a current or upcoming set like MM or pick up a box of an older (and cheaper) set such as SS or POA?  Thanks for all the awesome information on the board. ;D

Hi Aiden!  Welcome to the world of box collecting..... :D I have this feeling one box will become two, and two will become three...until a case gets ordered  :P I swore it would never happen to me...and yet, it did ::)

As for your question, this is really up to you.  I say, get a box of MM AND one from an older set :rofl:  If there is a particular set you love all the inserts in, go for that one.  But in the end, they are all lovely choices, IMO ;)

I wouldn't buy POA and POAU boxes. The chance is too bad to get inserts which are worth the price of the box. SS, GOF and GOFU are a better choice IMO. :)

Hi!  Thanks for the answers.  I have a feeling that you're right - I can see myself going entirely round the bend here really.  So now my quest will be to look around online and find sources for boxes aside from ebay.  I can't even find retail packs in most of the local stores.  I hope to be an active participant on the forum and I'll keep you all up-to-date on anything I am able to find.  One warning though - I hope that I don't anoy everyone with my excitement over the small things.  Here's to great things to come! :o=

Aiden - you might already know this, but you need to be looking for Hobby boxes, not the Retail versions.
The Hobby boxes have the inserts (costumes/autos/props/film cells) whereas the retail boxes normally have base cards with some of the chase foils in them.
Check the auction descriptions really carefully, especially if the price looks too good to be true, cos there's every chance it's a retail box up for sale. ;)

Somehow I dont think so but I would like a september release date. Just from a cash flow perspective with Avengers and LOTR in October.

Unless they move really fast, I kinda thought that Artbox had quite a few in-tact Harry items displayed at the SDCC.  I don't know that they would have been able to break everything down this quickly, then produce the cards, then pack the boxes... ??? I just don't know.

well I think that Memorable Moments will be later rather than sooner it has been the way with every potter set

I was just reading through this thread and I thought I could remember someone mentioning some of the actual props and costumes that were in this set. Is there anything confirmed interms of the props or costumes yet.

It looks like the 'cast resin resin' (plastic ;)) case will be inserted at a rate of one per case, and the other 9 boxes per case will be normal display boxes - that's a relief for those of us wondering about shipping and storage  ;D

I sort of had the impression that the cost of the resin boxes is why the distributor price was so high. This might turn into some very interesting discussions, possibly with some people being displeased.

Interesting for the boxes already presold. For the two auctions in the Price Guide, the one that sold 3 boxes just said that the boxes would feature the lavish Harry Potter design. The one that sold 5 boxes said the boxes would be of a resin design.

Of course, there may still be some details which Artbox hasn't decided yet.  :-\

We were also told at one point that there'd be "double inserts"... which doesn't seem to be coming true either. I don't see any reason why this release is so expensive - you could cite the cost of the three big autos, but they must be offset by the five billion death eater auto costume cards we are likely to be force-fed.

I would hope there will be a reduction in the cost of this product since artbox must have reduced their cost quite a bit

even if you didn't want 10 of the resin boxes at least it was something else to sell to make up for the increased price

I'm just wondering what those people who don't know about the Shack will do when they get their order and the boxes are NOT resin, collectible, or otherwise.  :P  I would imagine there will be some very displeased people.  I know that I will likely not get a resin box out of the two I bought, which then makes me wonder why I would be required to pay the $70+ dollars for regular boxes.  The bottom line is, when I ordered I expected the boxes to be resin/higher quality.  Now, I'm not getting what I bargained for--I think that if there isn't a drop in the prices, there are going to be some very angry buyers.  >:()   ???

My only thought is thank goodness I didn't sell any early on pre order I don't have to deal with any customers who will be disappointed by this

It is yet another time where I feel let down by artbox I have 4 cases on order and will be opening all boxes and breaking down the inserts seperately as I always do. I really do not know why they have even bothered with one resin box now unless this resin box will contain something pretty special. :-\
I for one am not someone to have the wool pulled over my eyes but this is what it feels like, I mean POAU ruined many a card dealer due to poor collation and incorrect insert ratios. Even if the boxes are part of a smaller production run this alone does not warrant a higher price, if the props and costumes are not limited very low and inserted only to 2 a box even then people are not stupid and wont pay $70 for a $45 box. :o
It is doing my head in just thinking about everything, one thing is for sure the longer I think about it the more unhappy I feel about this sets prospects. ???

If we are indeed getting the usual 2 inserts per box and 9 regular display boxes per case, I don't see how Artbox can possibly charge $70 per box. As Rich has said, who cares if its a low production run, that alone does not justify the increased price, especially as we can pretty much guess that the most desirable inserts will make up only a tiny fraction of the run anyway. I'm only sharing a case, but its definitely made me think about whether I want to pay a premium price for what is pretty much a regular release but with half the print run

I am a bit put off about paying so much extra for TWO boxes I THOUGHT were going to be resin, collectors boxes, one of which I was going to give as a gift.  Now, I find out that they are (likely) going to be regular, old cardboard boxes that ordinarily cost around $55 pre-order.  What's more disappointing is that I could have ordered more boxes had they been at the regular price--after all, they will be like the other series releases.  And though I am looking forward to the coin inserts (hopefully not by redemption), I still don't feel much better about the high prices.   :P  :-\ Like Rich, I hope my pessimism will be miraculously turned about after the set is released.

My guess is that Artbox will say the limited print run of 375 cases justifies the higher price. ::)

No doubt, I think you are definitely right.  But, does it justify a good $20, $25, $30 additional cost?  ???  I think it can be argued either way.  :-\

The only thing I thought that was special about the print run was that we weren't getting any costume card at 2000 print or another Quidditch robe (lord how many of those are out there), the resin box was a big deal, also the shipping presale cost was a big deal. I paid $88.00 a box with shipping factored in to get a rare print run in a resin box...do you think my dealers is going to offer a refund??? To me this is no different as them turning around and saying sorry Maggie Smith is not signing now...the delays were bad enough now this sudden turn around about promised product not offered anymore...already sent a nasty email to Artbox telling them to get thier S--T together or watch the Chamber of Secrets sales die down

Artbox will soon be a defunct company anyways.
Think about it...do they cater to collectors? No, they pull stuff like this ALL the time...has there been ANY Artbox release that went smoothly?
Do they cater to dealers? HECK NO...think about the SDCC Mystery Boxes...I am friends with two smaller dealers who I met last year and saw again this year. In a conversation with them they both said they are prob going to go buy a ton of mystery boxes, and not buy any more boxes to sell or carry singles...why buy cases and cases to try and get a Quad when you have a 1:50 chance of getting it each day in the Mystery boxes (at least Artbox told me two quads were inserted each day and there were 100 boxes a day) for just a LITTLE bit more than a Hobby box? I am not a dealer in any way, I sell some stuff on Ebay, but I definetly agree with them that there is no point in buying cases and cases of their products when you can just pull the premium cards at a fraction of the odds, and at a fraction of the price.

It may be a bit early to say. Plenty of manufacturers have tried experiments that seemed like a good idea to somebody at the time but backfired, and the question becomes whether they listen to the feedback. And at least they do read our comments.

I agree completely with the non-dealer-friendly nature of quads in mystery bags, but I note (for instance) that a lot of people have petitioned Rittenhouse to make limited numbers of their multiple-case-incentive cards available in packs. That's another side of the same coin, in my opinion. Some things that they choose to do that might seem to be collector-friendly aren't great for the dealers.

One of the least dealer friendly actions happened with the very first case buy I ever made for a new product, the first X-Men Movie. Topps didn't receive a couple of the autographs in time to put them in packs, so they offered them as incentives to dealers who reordered additional cases when the print run didn't sell out. Now, wasn't that a kick in the teeth to the most loyal customers who had preordered the first time around?

Very true about the lack of smoothness that keeps things muddy for collectors. Some of that might be growing pains or changes in management, but they've done a decent job of getting time-critical sets out (when the cards release has to coincide with a film's release). I can't really understand the confusion about the design and release for HPMM and HPCoS except possible difficulties in qualifying new manufacturing subcontractors for the coins, like they had difficulties in finding new printing partners when the whole HP series started selling so well. Still, they haven't gone into the mode of some companies that announce sets and then don't produce them when presales don't reach a target level.

Every major manufacturer (and a lot of "former" card companies) has done something I've disliked quite a bit. Some approaches that I consider anti-collector or anti-dealer have become routine practices.

My opinion on HPMM is that it had better be something very special that will make up for the confusion, or I expect them to refund some of the presale money. They can keep the con-mystery-bag idea, but make the insertion rate of cards-also-in-packs lower or replace them (perhaps) with con exclusives.

Well...since we have so few details about the set, there could be more Quidditch costumes. :-\  We've heard talk of dual costume and prop cards.  If the fabrics are from costumes we haven't seen yet in a set, that's great, but I'm afraid we'll get a POA dual Quidditch costume card of Harry and George.  I don't care if a card like that is numbered to 50, I won't be interested in it. :P


I believe that every HP set so far as sold out, no matter how many complaints there were prior to release.  Artbox has had problems with other releases, too, like Frankenstein and Doom.

How about a nice all-black swatch of one of Harry's robes, numbered to 50?

Or my favorite, "One Leprechaun Gold Coin in every pack!" (But open your packs right away, or it might disappear.)  >:D

Artbox could alleviate a lot of concerns if only they'd release some info this week.  It's close enough to the release that they have to know most, if not all, of the inserts in the set.

i think it would be great if there were larger pieces of costumes and props in the cards if possible!  But i'm not sure if they would ever do that.  I've always thought the Marauder's Maps cards for example would look even better larger!  ;D :o

Since the release is only about a month away, there should be no problem releasing some more detailed information and soon...especially considering there are some concerned (possibly peeved) buyers and, I would imagine, some worried sellers regarding the potential backlash and/or resistance to paying the higher prices.   :-\ Surely there is some information regarding some of the props and costumes that could be released, as well as some rough production numbers.   :-\

To be honest, I'm not sure I'm going to bother with this set.  I'll wait and see what a full run will cost from Tom but I think I'd rather have COS (and the inevitable update)...

I'm always very wary about these "collective" sets.  What concerns me is that they will probably release it again after Phoenix (but with Phoenix included) just to tide them over until Half Blood.  And then release it again after Half Blood etc.  And then we will get the full 7 film run...

And like many others, I'd rather have some decent props/cossies/autos instead of the same old Prophet/Quidditch/Hermione cards (I'll wait for the backlash on that last one!)

I'm not so sure there will be other memorable moments/collective-type sets in between each movie.  There are only so many costumes and props available, especially for Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets.  We'll definitely see update sets for each of the new movies, though.

I think todays point are very valid surely we had more info on previous sets this close to the supposed release. I am still pretty sceptical on the expected mid october release I still have not been given a firm release date other than 'should be mid October'.

My dealer told me today that the release is now the end of October.

The original release date was Oct. 16, which is less than two weeks away.  There really isn't an excuse for not sending info by now.  It's possible that the set is going to be delayed (no confirmation on that).  We still haven't received the coin cards from the poster set.  Those cards are also supposed to be in MM, so I wouldn't be surprised if that is causing a delay.

I really hope they are not planning on delaying it AGAIN! I did a little mental note-taking and realized that I pre-ordered in April for an expected release on June 12th.  June turned into July, which turned into the middle of August, which turned into the middle of October, which has now become LATE October.  Now, you would think that if you originally state a release of early June, you would have some notion as to what will be in the set. So, having said that, there should be no mystery by now about the sets' contents.  I have been concerned that they are waiting on the coins...if that's the case, I wish they would let us know that.

yea, the wait is getting frustrating.  I think releasing some information or photos of the cards would be the least they could do!

 I e-mailed Tom  2 weeks ago  and he said  he thought late Oct. release and then I e-mailed  him this week to see if he'd heard anything new at all from Artbox about  definite release date , what was gonna be in the set etc.etc.  and he said he'd heard nothing new at all  ....
 
 So I"m now wondering if another delay is upon us ...... you'd think Artbox would let a large distributor  have some info for a supposed release that was  2-3 weeks  away .....

 Artbox creates some wonderful sets & cards  but is absolutely brutal when it comes to pre-release info  and it's not fair to the distributors , the dealers and the consumers not to get information out ahead of time  ....

 what's the big secrets ??    other non-sports companies seem to get alot of information out well before a product is released ...

   Here's hoping we all get some real information ASAP ...... seems like I've been waiting for this set for a year and if Artbox does'nt get moving  it just might be    >:(

I agree with everyones feelings, we have had delays from artbox before on other sets but it seems to be getting way worse currently. Just take the whole Frankenstein thing it was delayed for ages with no firm date then about 2 weeks before it was out we got to hear about it. Wasnt that set late by about a year, for sanitys sake I hope thisset is not going to be the same. Also if they are having production problems what is wrong with letting us know !

Not to be a killjoy, but...

It's great to finally receive some news, but until we know the insert rate, I don't want to get too excited.  These boxes are expensive and I won't be too happy if we get only one insert and two coin cards in a box.  IMHO, the two coin cards do not take the place of a costume, auto, or prop.

  these boxes will be more expensive and until we know what we "should" get in a box and/or what the cards look like we'll all be wondering exactly what Artbox has in store for us ...

 I would certainly hope you'd average  1.5-2  hits a box  and yes that's not including the coin which I don't really consider a "hit card" at all ....
  At least getting a update hopefully means this will be arriving soon but with Artbox who knows ..... why can't we get at least some pics of the base set along with some of the props & costume cards and what the autos will look like ??

Artbox is trying to release the 24 preview set this week, their customer service person has been out of the office for a while, and I don't think the company has too many other employees.  Still, my dealer thinks the set will ship next week.  It would be really nice if we could see a new sell sheet and some photos of the cards.

Without knowing the insert ratios, I'm still a bit skeptical about this set :-\  It's nice that Artbox provided a general list of what to expect, but I would really like to know what the props will be and what costumes and who's.  Plus I'm not a big fan of coin cards so getting 2 per box and with them both being the same in each box sure does lessen the value of them.  In effect a box topper would be more rare than a coin card. ::)

I agree about the insertion rate question.  I won't be able to get too many boxes, and with the significant increase of price for this set, I hope the odds are reasonable.  Just seems like alot of these cards may be numbererd reallly low, and unattainable for some.  I'm just hoping there aren't too many cards numbered under 50, despite how cool they may be lol

Hooray it is great to finally recieve a bit more information, but as with everyone else what are we getting for our money now we know we only get one resin box per case.
I cant believe for all us loyal customers who have had this product on order since April after all the delays, why we dont get proper release details ie. what are the costumes and dual cards going to contain. Then there are all the collectors who have had pre orders cancelled.
I am just holding onto the hope that because of the number of autos costumes and props 32 individual cards in total compared to 38 in the GOFU set which had 7500 boxes this set is due only 3750. If we factor the coin cards and the premium cards to be produced in similar quantities we should be paid back hansomely, the other alternative is that the premium cards are extremely short printed which again should be cool.
What do you think people ?

I was surprised at the relatively low number of autos, given that the majority of them seem to be the DE's.  I just hope that there are at least two inserts per box (not including the coin cards) and that, maybe, we will have a better chance at pulling a prop or dual cards of some kind.

I am really glad that some information was released!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :D  I'm even happier that the set should be coming out in a couple of weeks  :D

There is some confusion about the autos.  We don't know whether there are 9 in total, including the 4 DE auto/costumes, or 13 in total, meaning 9 regular autos and 4 DEs.

Oh, I see.  :-\  This set really is a mystery! Should be fun/interesting to watch unfold.

four death eaters!?!?  :o >:() out of all the people that have starred in all four movies, theres gonna be FOUR death eater autos!?!? im outraged, have people dropped out of signing and theyve replaced them with more death eaters? fair enough if we will actually know who they are, but doesnt memorable moments mean we may have some memory of who these people are/were in the movies???

im sure it will be good in the end, but with the delay, excitment and all the tension it dampens my spirits, as im sure that as the films progress there will be many more deatheater autos/costume cards

well peeps im well happy about the 4 deatheaters auto/costume cards  ;D ;D(it will be a massive add to my deatheater costume/auto collection) i have a massive interest over the deatheaters, and what they did and their realtionship and loyalties to voldermort in the books.
i found the DE1 and DE2 wicked ;D totally new unique card design for a costume/auto adding mystery over who were the deateaters at the quidditch worl cup. i thought $60 = £33 is a good price, i was happy to pay it
but i can all see where you guys are comming from. because theres a massive list of actor who havent signed yet like...

 FINALLY we have some solid information --- not specific costume /prop cards but hey I guess we'll all be surprised when we open our boxes ...

 Looks good ---  5 autos / 10 costumes &  3 prop cards per case --- 

 The deatheater autos are "just okay" but the other autographs are all very solid ----

 I also received some scans of the costume & prop cards (including the dual cards ) and they look nice and nothing like previous releases -- very classy looking .....   (it was noted in the e-mail that the scans were meant only for the email address's they were sent to and I'll honor that request) ....
  I'm sure they'll get out to the general public soon ....   I will say that one scan is of a McGonagall costume  :D

 I have 1 case coming (hoping for 2 but won't know until next week) and can't wait to see all the cards in hand ....

I am not very happy about this.  The previous sets had 10 costumes, 5 autos, 3 props, and 3 filmcards per case.  There are no filmcards with this set, so that should mean three boxes in every case will have only 1 insert (the coin cards don't count).

How is this set worth about $20 more per box over the previous sets? >:(

Sheesh, I need to learn to add and divide. ::)  There are 18 inserts per case divided by 10 boxes, so there should be two boxes per case that have only one insert.  In previous sets, a case usually had 9 boxes with two inserts and 1 box with three inserts.

Well, maybe this time it'll be the Sirius letter and not the envelope ::)

 :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:  Well, I try.  However, I have to say, from someone who was only able to get two boxes, I'm a little sad.  :'(  I was so hoping to have at least two inserts per box, plus the coin cards, all in a collector's resin box.  Now I know I won't get a resin box, and I will likely get at least one box, if not both, with only one insert.   :'(   It's all up to luck, I suppose.  And let's face it, the odds of pulling a BIG prop/auto/combo card when you are only getting two boxes are slim to none. 

So, I'm thinkin' I must rely on all of you to pull super great things and post big, bright pictures.   ;)  For the life of me, though, to echo what Cindy said, I can't see what justifies the $20+ increase in price.

 I agree. I'm only getting two boxes, and i'm kind of worried about whether or not i just spent more than I should have.  I was hoping the insertion rates for the props would be better.  I'm still looking forward to this set though, the design sounds amazing!

Oh Well !!!!! I am slightly disapointed we are not going to get a bonanza of inserts per box, but at least we can now assume the numbers of the props and costumes will be low,giving at least some added value.  ???

The reasons for the increase in price are the limited print run, the number of double costumes and props, and a different card stock for the base cards.  This might be one of those sets that will be much better when we're all cracking boxes and cases than it seems from the press release.

I do think the autos look good (not the auto/costume death eater ones... OBVIOUSLY :rofl:).

 I also agree that we probably won't see the  real story  of this set until some boxes & cases are opened ....
   I had forgotten about not having filmcell cards in the set so yeah you are'nt getting quite as much per box/case as in GOFU but hopefully the design and card stock will be an improvement over previous releases ....
   
  I'm really hoping the entire set (base cards,inserts, auto & costume/prop cards) are all going to be something different than what we've seen in the previous sets ...
  If this is a limited production set I hope it'll show with the quality in the cards...

  IMO it can't look like a regular Harry Potter Artbox set -- it's got to be different and that includes all the cards ....

Just my imagination. But it sounds not too bad, a case should have a fair value.  8)

LOL I'll have to agree with that!  It's very tough to get decent prices on cards now on ebay. The competition at times is completely insane sometimes, but it makes me appreciate the cards that I already have even more!

I have pretty much already convinced myself to accept the fact that whatever I get in my two boxes will be ALL I am able to get of this set for some time to come.   :ebay: auctions on these cards will be crazy.   :P :-\

With COS and OOTP coming out this next year, I think some serious decisions will have to be made regarding this set--maybe pick one or two "gotta have 'em" cards.

I really don't doubt that opening the boxes will be equally as fun as always and the cards will be top notch once we see them. The problem: likely will want more and won't be able to get them.  :-\

I'm just a little afraid of waiting in the wings to purchase these cards at a later date, is that some of them may dry up before the prices come down on  :ebay: which in the long haul, they allways drop somewhat

Well exactly. I think we have to be practical about this, PoA was 500 cases although I daresay that a lot of those boxes and cases were purchased by speculators at the time, and maybe there will be some speculative purchases of these boxes and cases too.

Let's wait and see how the numbers work out, but I think Thomas has illustrated how rare those props are going to be, I always love the props :(

I still think we trust Artbox to much, even if we smack-talk them all the time ::) Like John said, their probably not even planning to release official news because this set is already sold out. I don't know about you guys, but the day I spend $80 bucks for box that has no guaranty, no idea of inserts or insert ration, or no news at all for that matter, is the day I've complete lost it :P . This is the first time we've ever been promised a case of all resin boxes only to find out later that there will only be one resin box in a case which might not mean anthing but more money because the inserts could be packed the same way normal boxes are. And for the fact that they have complete sold out, people who were able to only buy a few boxes are really stuck with whatever they pull :(

But, I'm not all badtalk;) It does look like a nice set and the parchment cardstock it's printed on will be a breath of fresh air from the other sets. Even thought Artbox isn't the best card company, it's nice to see some of the good stuff they come up with :)

Well I am hoping that Artbox have done something truly amazing for this set that isn't being done justice by the press release.  I do think they have listened to criticism in the past and made some changes - more even insertion rates, spreading out releases.  They will do themselves a lot of damage in the long run if this set doesn't live up to the extra cost.

I think the problem with Artbox is that they try to release what they would want if they were collecting the set. They are fans of trading cards rather than running a business. Dispite the delays in releasing each set, there has been very few complaints in the content (apart from POAU) and they seem to really mean well. The breakdown of this set will, I think, set a new bench mark as to what can be expected for the future.

Funny, but I thought the content of POAU was excellent. :)  The collation and dud boxes were the problems.

I complained a lot about MM yesterday, but having thought about it for the past 24 hours, there just isn't enough info yet for me to judge this set.  Yes, three less inserts per case is a problem.  Yes, only one resin box per case is a problem (although I've heard they are heavy and it would have cost a small fortune to ship a whole case of them).  We know nothing about the coin cards, haven't even seen a picture of one, and while they are a fabricated item (versus one that was used in a movie), they might be quite collectible.  The double costume, double prop, and prop/costume cards might turn out to be stunning.

It's really hard being patient to see what else is in the set.  From the talk about ship dates and release dates, I believe that many dealers will receive their cases on Oct. 25, and then ship to us after that.  It's going to be a long couple of weeks. ::)

I agree about POAU, most of my favorite cards are from the POAU set.  As far as props were concerned, I found almost nothing interesting in both GOF releases personally (except for the super rare wands),

I think It's going to be very interesting watching the auctions for this set.  I'm certain that the competition will be amazingly fierce.  I'll probably pick up a couple of my favorites;  the magical plants book sounds like a nice one.  If I remember correctly it was on display at comic con this year!

As of now, the Magical Plants Book Prop is the most intriguing to me. I think the Christmas ornament props from SS might be pretty...I would love one of those.   :D

I'm just really not optimistic that I'll have even a shot on these cards, especially if the production numbers are as low as we're anticipating.

I'm just hoping we won't see too much of what happened with the MM Comic con trophy cards.  I know they were rare, but that's just a little bit too hardcore for me  :rofl:

You can look at the price guide for case incentives from recent sets to estimate what any case incentive might cost.  We also have to consider the print run for the card, based on the limited number of cases.  With 375 cases, there should be 75 Magical Water Plants cards, but Artbox makes more for replacements and other reasons.  A few cards that would roughly have the same print run are GOF Yule Ball Poster, Dark Forces book, Dragon Selection bag, Trial Chamber Paperwork (pack-pulled), and Monolith Trophy, and GOFU Rita Skeeter's notepad and Harry's letter to Sirius.

Do you suppose the
2   case be around 200 cards
5   case be around 90 cards
10 case be around 50 cards
25 case be around 30 cards?

Delivery Day Etiquitte 

1. Pacing by the door is ok, but do remember to use the restroom so you dont have an accident when your case(s) arrive.

2. When you see the Delivery truck driving down your street, do not run to it and chase it till it gets to your house. This will just make you too tired to open packs.

3. Do not stand outside yelling for the Delivery truck. They will get there eventually, and they can't hear you anyway.

4. Do not tackle the Delivery driver. He/she might not give you your case(s) if you do. They might take offense and call the police and you would have to spend precious pack opening time in jail for assult.

5. Ask the Delivery person if its OK to hug and/or dance with them before you do it. It might be accepted but its proper to ask first.

6. Wait a few moments (10 seconds at least) for the Delivery person to walk away before you close your door and tear the case and packs open with your teeth.

7. Be very careful not to harm your precious cards when you rip through the packaging with whatever sharp object you find handy.

8. Do thank the delivery person, but remember, it's not acceptable to scream at the top of your lungs. Also, jumping up and down makes it hard to sign the delivery sheet.

9. With all of the excitement caused by delivery day jitters, make sure you are fully dressed before answering the door. 3 day stubble and boxers with holes in them are sure signs of your obsession and may scare the Delivery driver away when it comes to future case deliveries.

10. If you must have a sharp object to open the package with, do NOT answer the door with it in your hand. You might frighten away the Delivery guy/gal and they will run away with your case(s) in their hands.

11. If you didn't get ANY sleep the night before, drinking lots of hot coffee is not recommended. If you forget to put down your cup, you might burn the delivery person, causing him/her to run down the street with your case(s) still in their hands, screaming and wailing.

Now make your plans, and everybody have a safe Delivery ;)

But I think the extent of our mania extends beyond the delivery guys. We also have to consider etiquette with family members. I can imagine there will be lots of 'shoo'ing by mothers :rofl:, it's hard, but try to let them enjoy the fun and get them enthused - hand them a pack of (safety) scissors... yeah, you know the ones that aren't capable of cutting through anything :rofl:

Oh forget it - just retreat to a cupboard or an upstairs bedroom and demolish your box/case ;D

WOW just been emailed the pictures of the announced costume and prop cards all I can say is my excitement is increasing big style. I cant say how happy i am they are sticking with the look of the cards like the Trophy Prop cards ( I know this was fairly obvious but it is still cool)

Oh dear, anyone seen how much the Resin boxes are going for on ebay?. Over $140 for a Resin box! they were being sold for $75-80 before :o :o :o. I expected the "regular" cardboard boxes would go down a bit but they didn't. I seriously hope this set does make up for the amount of money we're all going to spend on it :o=.

The resin boxes were being sold for $75-$80 before we found out that there would be only one resin box per case, and from what I can see on eBay, many dealers still don't know about the change.  There are going to be a lot of disappointed buyers who will expect resin, but receive a regular box, and there's nothing the dealers can do about it. 

I understand that the Resin boxes are (now) limited to 375 and that makes them rare/more valuable but $140-$180 for a resin box :-\? That's almost twice what the cardboard boxes are selling for.

I know what you mean, I'm one of those that will be dissapointed if the inserts aren't worth the $80+ i paid for a not-Resin-anymore box.

That's the pre-order from one dealer right now.  In two or three months, the boxes might be less expensive or people who have them might want to sell the empty ones.

I really hope so Cindy :o=, I'd love to have one of those boxes, even an empty one would be nice ;D.

I am still unsure about what exactly the resin boxes will contai I am still hoping they will be a little special and not just have the same cards as we will find in the normal boxes. I cant understand why we would pay more for a resin box even if there are only 375 of them. My boxes will all be sold empty.

I agree about the boxes.  The resin box sounds nice, but I buy these things for the cards not the boxes LOL

Still, I think I'd like to have one resin box for my Harry Potter collection.  Although the prices are scaring the daylights out of me.   :o  Frankly, I really wouldn't be all that surprised if the only thing special about the resin box is the box itself and the inserts are basically the same as the regular boxes. 

I do think it would be great, though, if the resin boxes held some especially special cards.   ;)

Oh, I don't know.  We're going to have a lot of cards that are very limited as it is, particularly the props.  I'd hate to think that there is even one card available only in the resin boxes. :-\

True.  I'd like to have at least a shot at pulling everything.  I just meant that maybe the resin boxes would have one of the double props or something special like that AND have more inserts.

Like I say it is very exciting . I was thinking more along the lines that the resin boxes might have an extra premium card in a noticable way and not a stealth way as in GOFU where we had 9 boxes with 2 inserts and then one box with 3 premium cards. At least this way you would know roughly what you were getting making it worth paying the little extra. I say bring on the cases and lets have a look. Rest assured my breakdowns will be on here first as soon as they are open.

  My case was delivered about 1 hour ago !!!!

 All dealers etc. have been asked to not show scans or start auctions until tomorrow and I will honor that ...
 however -- I can state that these are GORGEOUS cards ..... the base cards IMO are by far the nicest Artbox has done for HP  and they are totally different than all the other  sets ....... the presentation from the box to the cards is very nice ....
   And there are only 3750 boxes as previously stated ....

  I'll ask for opinions on whether or not I can pass along any other information today or whether I should wait until tomorrow ...

 I will say that I have cracked all 11  regular boxes  and am currently debating on whether to crack the resin box packs  or just sell it like it is on  :ebay: ....

I got mine yesterday and have already cracked the whole case and I was just about to ask the same thing.
I have to say I'm pretty happy with my pulls.  It didn't seem to me that the resin box had anything more special than the other 9.  I did think it was interesting that the other 9 boxes were more like the poster set type and not the usual cardboard ones I was expecting.

Maybe you should ask your dealer to see what he/she says. :-\

Did your resin box have one or two inserts in it?

My resin box had two inserts (one dual).  My dealer never actually told me not to put pictures up, I just read it on the board and was following what everyone else was saying.

 I've opened 9 and might crack the resin box in abit (have'nt decided yet) ...

 I will say this -- out of 9 regular boxes  I've had 7 boxes with 2 inserts / 2 boxes with 1  ....

 Doubt that I'll be up at midnight EST (USA)  but I am being to scan the cards  and will get a case break out tomorrow at some point...

I haven't seen an Emma auto yet either.  Some "partial" sets of autos have been listed on  :ebay:, but none of them have the Emma auto.  I also noticed that some of the costume cards are reasonably priced on  :ebay:.

i noticed that too, im getting my hopes up lol, its strange cos i thought Maggie Smith would be the auto we wouldnt see at first but its emma's instead......i dont know wether to think its good or bad  ::)

I was told the Maggie Smith auto is rare, but not $900 Rare! Maybe Emma got sick of signing for so many sets and only agreed a VERY small number of cards.

The Auto Card prices will go the same way as they do ever, i'm almost sure. Emma Watson was rare ever, in POA and POAU and we had the same with Rupert Grint in GOF, we saw him very late. The price should be about $300 as it was ever with Rupert or Emma. And Maggie Smith seems to be less rare than Emma, so ...  ::)

Does anyone have the Hermione autograph card for memorable moments?  how much is this card worth?

I was also wondering about the set coming out in February 2007 for Chamber of secrets, is there an Emma Watson auto card?

Hi Tim, i posted my thoughts right before you. But maybe it sells for more the first days/weeks.

As Tower said in the post above yours, Emma autos generally sell in the $300 range.  No one has posted that pull here or listed one individually yet on eBay.  Generally, the autos that sell within a few days of release go for a lot of money, and then the price settles down.

We have no information about the COS set.  I don't know where you heard a February 2007 date, because Artbox has not yet released that info.  There has been speculation that COS will come out then, since Order of the Phoenix will be released in June or July 2007.  When we have info, we will definitely post it.

If nobody has seen an Emma auto yet, does that mean I should expect to find 5 in my case when it shows up tomorrow?  0:)

hey i know i'm joining this late but i love the look of te MM set. i heven't been looking for cards in ages or even keeping up with the HP cards due to college and being sick. but i really like the look of these. i'm definately getting a  mcgonagall costume and hopefully loads of props  ;D plus i still must get  Dan card wihich would be amazing although that's GOF update and shows me going off topic.  ::)
