My favorites of my case:

After much staring at the picture of the book I took at Comic Con, I think I have figured out that my card must come from the "L" and "O" in Lockhart's name.  It is hard to tell in the scan but there seems to be a bit of the "L" near the edge of the swatch.  There are no other letters in Gilderoy Lockhart's name that would have the bar like that, so I figure that's where it must have come from.  Too bad they didn't actually use the picture of the book on this card.

You know what?  I agree. For Unfogging the Future in PoAU, they used a picture of the book on the card.  The first Daily Prophet was like that, as well as Zonko's, Dervish and Banges ands Honeydukes.  Then, they suddenly started to put character pictures on most of the cards. I think it would have been nice if they used te picture of the Magical Me book on the card like they did the Unfogging the Future.

I was staying away from this forum until I got my boxes and opened them before seeing what all the cards were in the set. Now that I have opened them (will post the three boxes in the other thread shortly), I must say that I am not overly impressed with this set like I thought I would be.  The autos I expected were removed.  The costumes are just okay in my opinion.  Nothing super spectacular, although, I do like Ginny's PJ's for the colors (no, I did not pull that card).  I also did not get any props (I pulled two filmcards though) and I think the props are the best of the set, but again, I do not see much room for variants.  The Magical Me and the howler has them, and a few others, but nothing like the variants we used to see in the older sets.  I am a bit dissapointed with this set, although, I will be shopping n eBay for some more props. lol.  There are a few I feel I HAVE to have.

Your Basilisk fang looks different than others I've seen -- those were sort of brown and reminded me of the Norbert's egg prop.  Very nice collection!

I didn't pull any variants, but I really like my Ron's sweater with the cabling and specks of color. Smiley  The card is fairly thick, too.  I had to put it in a 120 pt. screwdown.

jfer21 said in the Case Breakdown thread:

Is it me or did I get the exact same case as Tower's #2?  The only thing that is different is the case topper (which is packed separately).

No, you are mistaken. It's the exact same case as HPfamily's #2.   Grin

Tower's #2 was the same as HPfamily's #1, with allowances for one costume swap and an extra prop replacing a missing film cel in the latter.

Case clusters already! (My case has been spending the holiday weekend at the UPS depot 25 miles away.)

Maureen, those cards are amazing.  LOVE the Howler with Ron's name and Hogwarts in it.  Also, like Cindy said, your Basilisk fang is the first one I've seen that actually has the color of the one in the film.

Cindy, I love your Ron sweater! I hope I can pull one of those!  Praying

Case clusters are alll to ever present with the last couple of sets. It is a shame really as you can almost tell what you will find in a case after a couple of boxes.

Case clusters are alll to ever present with the last couple of sets. It is a shame really as you can almost tell what you will find in a case after a couple of boxes.
Plus, it sometimes works against the collector who buys just one or a few boxes. The chances of a real top item (like Quad or Daniel for TSS, or Dueling Platform for COS) go down if you buy from a dealer who opens a case until they find their share of the top items, then sell off the rest of the case.

Granted, not all sellers do this, but a bunch do. Of course almost all manufacturers try to avoid "dud cases" and tend to include a balanced selection of the rare versus common in a single case, and you'll always have the potential for case-searching. But the clusters make it possible (sometimes) to know what's in the rest of a case after you open just a single box. If you have everything else but a P6 or P9, you can get an idea of whether it's possible if you keep on opening from the case.

About the only way around it is to forbid the posting of case breakdowns, but then the largest buyers would still be able to see patterns ... The potential for skimming is lower when you don't have single cards (like with TSS) that are worth the price of an entire case.
