 no idea Huh

I've gotten a little bit of crap for "simple" too.  Roll Eyes

To expain it in short - It seems to me that one artist got put off by some people not liking the "cartoon style" ones and then the other artists just jumped on the wagon.

Kelly, glad you like the Sam cards. I enjoy drawing him the most of all the hobbits!

I don't think anyone was upset about being labeled 'cartoony'.  I think the misunderstanding was due to some questions that were put forth about why we were chosen for this set, as opposed to those directly involved with the movies. Why they weren't involved is a question Topps can answer. However, for those who don't yet know this, I can tell you that New Line Cinema did approve each one of us for this project. And on a personal note,  I can say that each of us is honored to have been invited to work on this set, as is evident by the work being produced.

Happy 2006 everyone!

Happy 2006!  Well, I finally caved and decided to get a box of Evolution instead of Alias 4.  Roll Eyes  Here's hoping I get something good out if it.  Praying  BTW, I know not everyone likes the cartoon sketches, me included for 3/4 of the ones I've seen, but have you ever tried drawing a cartoon?  It ain't easy!  I wouldn't say those artists are less talented, I just hope if I get a cartoon sketch it's a detailed one.  Some of the Star Wars sketches were just too "bare bones" looking for my taste.

I finally had time to look at the site, and I have to say that alot of the work there was very impressive! I particlarly liked Rafael Kayanan's colour sketches and Russ Walks and Cat Staggs' work. Brilliant!

Maybe I will have to collect a Legolas from each artist... and maybe a few Aragorns... and Eowyns... Gandalfs - argh, I am stuffed! Grin

Happy New Year to all the LOTR Evolution artists as well! I've never had any experience with sketch cards before, but from what I have seen, I have been very impressed! When all the stress of LOTR Evolution dies down, I'm hoping to ask Cynthia to do a commissioned card for me as I love the work she has shown us here Smiley

Well, this IS a Rumour but I guess I'll post this anyway. It showed up on the Topps board earlier today. I have no way to confirm it's authenticity, but here goes...

72 card base set
  63 cards being characters
  9 cards being creatures
20 Evolution A inserts
12 Evolution B inserts
10 Stained Glass cards
9 Memorabilia Cards
  Arwen's nightgown  Cheesy
  Eowyn's Helm's Deep Overfrock  Grin
  Frodo's Travel Cloak  Roll Eyes
Galadriel's Grey Havens Cloak  Roll Eyes
Galdalf the White's Cloak  Roll Eyes
  Gandalf the White's Shirt  Smiley
  Gimli's Tunic    Praying
  Merry's Travel Cloak  Roll Eyes
  Pippin's Travel Cloak   Roll Eyes

First, what's up with all the cloaks??? Roll Eyes

Second, it looks like we'll finally get a Gimli memorabilia card.

I'm sure these will be "material used to make" the costumes, but still rather cool.  Makes that retail product look a little bit better.  I sure wish Topps would make an official announcement with insertion ratios. Praying

Hello Ed:

Thanks for the info.  Yea it is depressing that we see Frodo's, Pippin's, and Merry's Travel Cloaks as they were in earlier sets as was Gandalf's White Shirt.  That is at least 4 cards I will not have to purchase!   Smiley   I agree that Gimli's Tunic will be the card to get if the info is true!   Smiley  I have a Clothing Card for Eowyn at Helm's Deep again from an earlier set.  I will have to see if it is from the same material or not.  Ed you have too happy a smiley face for Arwen's nightgown!   Wink

I am not happy at all with 19 Stained Glass Cards - they do not look good and there are too many of them.  I would have liked to see Topps use those slots for more of the Evolution A & B inserts.

Well that lets me out of the retail set... too many repeats and apart from Gimli and to an extent Arwen and Galadriel, its another case of same old, same old Tongue

I'm glad that I am not the only one that is not a fan of the stained glass cards Undecided

Good news on the Stained Glass cards, it was my typo...

There are only 10:
Aragorn
Bilbo
Boromir
Frodo
Gandalf
Gimli
Logolas
Merry
Pippin
Sam

Just thought it was odd there were no females in the stained glass format... Huh

disappoointing costume cards apart from gimli. i expected a gandalf the grey card not 2 more white ones. perhaps we get arwen's ed night gown. what other costume of eowyn is there? and more travel cloaks of the hobbits? how about vests or shirts? sigh...good thing is as a completists, these will come really cheap.

I am glad to see two Gandalf's but a Gandalf the Gray would have been nice. I like about half of the costumes and the others seem close to what was already done. I am glad that there are costumes at all.

The stained glass I think I'll have to pull one before I decide if I like them or not.

I think there are almost too many Level A & B inserts, It seems to me that it would take 2 or 3 boxes to finish a set.

Hi Everyone-
I'm not sure if I mentioned this here yet or not, but I wanted to let you all know that I will be at Collectormania in Manchester, England next month (Feb. 11-12). Anyone out there going? If so, stop by and say hi!

Anyone hear anything more about Evolutions concerning if the release date is on track or if there is going to be a delay?
