Last I heard, it was early March.  For anyone interested, I'm auctioning some original art I did for Star Wars.com.  You can get the link to the auction through my web site:

i just stumbled across this forum

yowch that sounds painful! But welcome Cat Cheesy Grin The more the merrier Grin and that's both an interesting and helpful breakdown - you've left some REALLY desireable sketches as rare (Cave Troll, Argonath, Treebeard) but also done a good few of popular characters (leggy and Aragorn at 20 a piece (plus a few painfully rare and painstaking for you to draw full colour ones)) but overall I can't wait to see these up close - scanners are great things but by the time you re-size things for the web they do lose 'something' just as a print of an artwork has 'lost' something compared to the original too.

Aragorn.... 20 + 1 full color
Arganoth...2 full color card scene

And as long as you marked 2 of these with a big X on the outside of the box and "For Roz in Cambridge" then that's fine ROFL!

I've been astounded by your work and I'm bankrupting myself in attempts to find it (erm... anyone need a Evolution base set Grin?) and you can be sure that if I find one a very large scan will be appearing on these pages Grin

Thanks for joining us

Hi and welcome to the Forum

I have to say I loved the Star wars Sketches from Heritage that most people did But the cards i have seen of the Lord of the rings Sketches I think they are 100 times better and i must have some.

I am sure as with Star wars that there will be a few artists who have just produced numbers rather than quailty but I was just blown away by the sketches by Cynthia and Cat. Every card you ladies have done are just fantastic and i would like to say thank you for the effort that you have put in where others could not be bothered.

Praying Praying Praying I will be proud to own cards by either of you  Praying Praying Praying

I meant to mention that dealers aren't expecting LOTR Retail in for another week or so - whereas Hobby should be in this week... so if you have ordered a case... you'll have to take solace in your Hobby for the next week

Wow,
I searched for Cats name on Yahoo to see what he Star Wars work looked like, and I found a site that that had the three color Orc/Urak-hi sketch cards she did and wow. I do not like sketch cards, I have never collected them. But I am buying a case now with the hopes of pulling anyone of her cards.

These?

You can see a lot more over here I just sent him a new batch so there should be more up this week. He also has all of the 21 Saurman cards displayed. If you can find one of those babies..you are golden. they are SUPER rare cards.. Lee was the only actor to want approval of likeness. Most artists did not even attempt to do any and those who did had to go through a tough process. Many only got a few and some didn't get any approved. I was a lucky one. There were about 100 submitted in total but maybe half of them or just a little more than half passed the test.

Thanks for the compliments folks. It is much appreciated. I wish you all good pulls next week.

I just looked throught the whole list of artists again and discovered Russ Walks and John Mccrea. Shocked  There are so many great looking sketches, but also so many cartoon ones.  Tongue  Just not my thing for the most part.  If I get any of Cynthia's or yours Cat, or any of the other artists that do the more realistic sketches I will be more than thrilled!  But with just one box to my name I won't be holding my breath.
I found my most favorite of all time Eowyn sketch....it's by Allison Sohn.  It's Eowyn looking over her shoulder and smiling.

Russ Walks is a complete genius. Jules is a big fan of his too Wink

John Mccrea is often at shows in the UK which is pretty cool, he was even at the Comic Expo Mark exhibited at last year (although I was more blown away by meeting Graham Bleathman at the time... and finding out what a great guy he is and how totally un-appreciated he is and whilst he was talking to me he did the most awesome full A4 (letter sized) thunderbirds sketch for me and just handed it to me - I nearly collapsed on the floor Tongue

Best thing about these sketches is there's something for everyone from the photo realistic to the cartoony...  Every artist has something I like Cheesy

I just took a quick look at these two's sketches!! I absolutely love Russ Walks's!!!
I don't own any sketches yet, (actually I just ordered my very first one from Warren  Grin )(I'll post it when I get it), but I am starting to really like these! Do most artists accept commission? (Like Russ?  Roll Eyes) Or do they mainly do things for card sets?

You beat me to it!  So, we're all speculating if ALL boxes have 2 sketches or if boxes have 1 sketch and some have none due to collation problems...  That would be SO neat if they're 2 per box (and I'd have a heart attack when opening my case)...

I would guess that the odds are probably around 1:20 so you would get 1 maybe 2 per box I can't imagine it being 1:12 packs but we can live in hope

we need someone here to get a box and read the odds

Roz, if that was an invite to me I will certainly take you up on that proper cup of tea! I did enjoy a proper Sunday brunch in Islington and it was lovely! Looking forward to returning to your amazing country.

Hope everyone gets whatever card you're hoping for:)
