OK, there was another topic on this general discussion forum about black 9 pocket trading card pages started by Anna.  I mentioned I had framed some of my cards and she asked if I would publish some pictures.  Here is the link:

The photo's themselves are quite big so they may take a while to load.  Also, I think you can resize the image window to get a better look at them.  The picture montages for Stargate and Enterprise have cellophane on them hence the poor colour.

Anna, if you're reading this, sorry for the delay but I hope you like them!  I use mini snaps to hold the cards themselves and the mounts are acid free card.  The glass is conservation standard so it cuts out harmful UV light that could fade the signatures and the cards themselves.  I don't have them in direct sunlight though.  The chap who does the framing uses a special glue that doesn't attack the plastic of the mini snaps.  He actually built a box frame for the Osbournes and Hellboy pictures because of the size of the action figures!

I recently got some deeper mini snaps that hold upto 130pt so they are great for the thicker costume cards.  The Enterprise autos are in Ultra Pro Magnetic holders so they are easy to remove if you needed to.  They also have squared off corners to protect the card corners.

The Osbournes and Hellboy framed pieces look fantastic!   And your montages for Stargate and Enterprise look wonderful too!   Now I'm thinking about framing some of my Harry Potter cards thanks to your inspiration.   Thanks for sharing your collections.

Really nice framed sets although I do have to ask, why did you not use the pieceworks set in the ozbournes?  Just wondering?  Still looks great.

Thank you all for the compliments    It's really down to the guy who frames them but we discuss it together before he goes ahead with the work.  Took me ages to find him though, not many people do conservation framing because the glass is quite tricky to handle.

I didn't use the pieceworks cards for the Osbournes because I don't have them.  The idea of Kelly's jeans, fresh from the laundry didn't appeal 

I'd do some of my Harry Potter ones as well Anna but the company (or rather individual) who makes the mono/colour cast montages hasn't got a Harry Potter cast picture as yet.  Roz will probably know him because he exhibits at Memorabilia - does Rich-art ring a bell Roz?  He has loads of cool pictures, I got a Nightmare Before Xmas one because I have Tim Burton auto floating around somewhere and NBX is one of my favourite films.

Ok, I've been inspired by Geek Boys frames and decided to do some of my own.  The materials are archive quality, but the glass is just plain.  The 2 smaller frames are from Micheals craft store.  They are special "Memory Frame's" that aren't as deep as a shadowbox, but have enough room to mount a 10 count Pro-mold mini snap.  I plan on doing one for each film.  Just displaying the cards I think are the coolest or the ones that discribe the movie the best.



The larger one is a hinged display case for my costume collection (excuse the glare).  I plan on getting one costume for every character available.  I displayed them in order of appearance in the films.  I used a black foam core board and cut out sections big enough to put the mini-snaps in and hold them in place.  All the mini snaps can be removed and rearranged as new costumes are added (note space left for Rosmertas jacket coming soon).  The whole case is hinged so I just have to lift up the top.  When all the sets have come out and my collection is complete I'm going to lable the names and numbers of the cards in silver ink.  I will probably make another case to hold all of my props.

I'm quickly turning our home office into a Harry Potter shrine!

Wow, I am so impressed.  For me it has certainly always been a big dilema as to what I am going to do to display all my great nonsport and sports cards.  How much do one of the hinged frames run?  I think I am inspired to try my hand at it now, also is there anything I have to think about as far as light natural or artifical ruining the cards overtime?

I bought the largest hinged display they had at Michaels craft store.  I got it for under $20 with a 40% off coupon they usually put in the Sunday paper.  As far as light eventually damaging the cards, well-I'm not sure.  Geek Boy had his displayed with a special archival glass.  I don't know where to get it, but if I find out, I don't think it would be too hard to have it cut and put in my frames.  I don't have any of my cards in direct sunlight.  The home office my frames are in is sort of our "cave".

Kelly, those are way cool!!!!  It's a nice idea to try and find a relevant picture to go with the cards too!.

As far as the conservation glass is concerned, it is supposed to be quite tricky to handle and cut.  I've only managed to find one person in our area who does conservation standard framing because of this.

As for fading, mine are out of direct sunlight as well.  To be honest I think they would fade slightly with time anyway, even if you stored them in Ultra Pro pockets but the sensible thing is to keep them out of direct sunlight and artificial light like fluorescent tubes.

I really appreciate you starting this thread and posting your frames, Geek Boy.  I wouldn't have thought to frame mine otherwise.  I'm going to start looking for someone who can get the special glass.  Is it any thicker than a regular sheet of picture frame glass?  If so, it may not fit my frames.

Actually I thinks it's thinner - which may be why it's tricky to handle and cut.

You know that they make a UV blocking film that is used on winows. I had it put up in all of the windows  inside my home when I lived in Coral Springs, FL. (It was also to keep the glass from shattering in the event of a hurricane, but that's a diffrent story.) Anyway this film will probably protect from the Flouresent lighting as well. It's easy to apply. They sell it at places like Home Depot.

It's interesting that you posted that today, because I just went to Michaels craft store's framing dept his morning and bought some archival quality UV blocking glass for 3 of my frames.  I bought the mid grade of what they have available.  It still shows some glare, but not much.  It was about $15 for a 12"x12" square.  The high grade UV blocking, non-glare, non-reflection glass they have is about $42 for a 12'x12'.  They also have some that looks just like regular glass, but the glare was horrible.

Here is my latest frame.  It's pretty small, just a 10"x10".  Thanks to Tom Breyer for my last card- the choc. bar prop.  That's about it for my Charlie collection.  I have some foils and the other retail props in my binder.
