General Stuff / Ebay and Paypal quibbles/problems / Re: No Paypal for non US Buyers!?!?!?!?!?!?

I got stiffed by a sport card seller who has feedback of over 13,000. He currently has 164 negatives over the past year. A lot of people, myself included, have reported him to eBay, but eBay won't do anything. You can't trust the general feedback rating -- it's really important to look into the negatives, too. I use a website called Toolhaus to check out negative feedback. www.toolhaus.orgThx kbmum, not seen this site before I used to use a program that appeared to have spyware built in This will come in very useful Ta again!! Congrats - I am really happy that it worked out for you. It was just so outrageously stupid that it even happened in the first place and I am just glad its all sorted. I will also be interested to see if the seller leaves you a neutral/neg They shouldn't because I think they know that they screwed up. Look at their latest auction terms: If you accept paypal AND ship internationally, you HAVE to accept paypal as an option from overseas bidders... I think the seller might get reported... Not by me! I tried complaining to Paypal, their attitude is.... "You got refund, what's the problem?" 2 days after giving nuetral fb, the seller hasn't responded I've now won & paid for a cheaper card, so I spose I'm happy. Am still baffled as to why some peeps are determined to complicate life, but that's humanity Moral of story: Just because you've won, reread the listing, complied with sellers wishes............. Don't take it for granted you'll be in the clear. Especiallly if seller has several K positive feedback!!!!! Rob

Any news from this mess Rob?
Yes, and it's good The funds finally cleared on Thursday. Another auction ended a few hours later, so I won that one Used the cleared funds to pay for it, saved $15 and left neutral for seller. It's been a real pain, but I have a result If seller leaves me neg or nuetral, I will respond, but make damn sure it stays on the record. I'm happy to take some stick, if it flags up what a twit the seller is!!!!! Rob

I would do what Cindy suggested and file a complaint with Ebay but say the goods were not received. When she responds to them by saying she refunded the money it will be up to her to explain why. This way it is all on Ebays records.
I've filed non-receipt with Paypal Only problem is, they're almost as dim She's replied stating she's refunding me. This is correct, but doesn't explain why They now say that they're waiting till 6/5 to see if I cancel the complaint, then they'll proceed If they were to read my submission, instead of just following a flowchart, we could sort this nonsense Still no sign of the returned funds clearing Just to cover a few other points - Someone I know on the Topps board is offering me a deal on this card, so I'm waiting on him The refunder can't cancel the refund (which would help both of us) that's Paypals fault tho' Finally, I bought something totally different today on the bay. Went out, voted, had meal, get home, check ebay. The seller of item I won earlier is now "No longer registered with " I dunno if I should laugh or cry Rob (laughing)

Thanks everyone, for all your opinions My problem is. I really don't like the sellers attitude. I understand all the arguments for/against Paypal, but the facts are these: 1. No mention of not accepting Paypal from me. 2. Refunded my payment without consulting me. 3. After two days, I'm still waiting for the refund to clear my Paypal axxount. No way am I paying again 'till it does. 4. I keep asking myself, "Why am I being so reasonable about this?" 5. Seller has now told Paypal that she made me a refund. No explanation given, it's almost like she wants me to come across as unreasonable. 6. I send all correspondence via ebay, all her replies come straight via email.. So, she'll deny anything they don't have records of. The more I consider this, the more I wonder why the hell I should bother. I complied with sellers wishes, SHE refunded without even speaking to me, funds ain't cleared etc etc, etc. I'm certain I'm within my rights to just give her a neg and move on. Advice please? Rob

I thought a bit, then raised a Paypal complaint. Couple of hours later, had email from seller It's all a big misunderstanding. They don't take Paypal from non US addies. However, they'll make an exception fer me However, funds are being returned. So, by the time I've taken the return fees/rate and repayed, I'm prolly gonna be out of pocket So now, I'm waiting to see if there's a response to the complaint, waiting to see how much I get when the funds clear, and therefore, still not happy! I did suggest seller might cancel refund, but no joy so far Watch this space!!! R

There's nothing anywhere to say they want cash on that auction and nothing to say they don't accept Paypal either! Rob - your Paypal payment - was it funded from a credit card or from funds in your account? It could be that this seller has a bog-standard Paypal that only accepts funded payments, for them to accept a credit card payment they would have to upgrade to a premier account and pay fees on any money the receive which might be why they refunded your payment. That's the only thing which comes to mind ... Whatever the reason, she didn't say anywhere that its only paypal in USA. Most Americans sseem to be the opposite. If she doesn't want Paypal, she should say so. I suspect this infringes eBay rules though. Am waiting on a reply from seller. R

You lot are gonna love this: 1. Win ebay auction. 2. Request Shipping costs. 3. UK buyer pays US seller using Paypal. 4. Seller refunds Paypal payment. 5. Paypal only for US buyers??? 6. Seller wants cash? Nothing on the item description or invoice saying she won't take Paypal. Buyer is baffled, confused, perplexed, FURIOUS Watch this space

I think the only chance of retail in shops in the UK will be Toys R Us. Anyone heard anything? It's doubtful They did Fellowship and the Update, and the first Two Towers. Trouble is, people who knew what to look for grabbed all the good cards early on (Yes, including me!!). It might be worth looking in Ottakars too, they did Fellowship ond Return. Why they skipped Two Towers, I have no idea Rob

Ed as a Dealer do you have any input with Topps at all? If you do not who do they listen to?
I don't buy direct from Topps (they require sports card purchases as well, and I'm not going there...) so I don't have any kind of contact with Topps at all. As for who they listen to, apparently nobody or they'd do some things differently. I know my distributors have trouble getting any information from them beyond what is on the sell sheets they send out. Ed Topps? Listen to people? That's the funniest thing I've heard all year Hate to say it, but I like the Agent Elrond card. I won't be angry if I pull it!!! Rob
