It was odd wasn 't it? At one time chase was going to be "tuff" and the base set was going to be smaller than 72 cards. The sell sheet does say 72 base cards but I still think it's almost a case of 'wait and see' - this is a useful summary thread - thanks Cindy :D

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: kbmum April 05, 2007, 11:45:22 PM
I know I read somewhere that there were going to be 54 base cards and various levels of chase cards.  I agree, it's definitely wait and see.  I still feel a bit burned by the COS set, when nearly half of the autos didn't materialize.  Maybe that's why we aren't getting a lot of info for this one. ::)  If it weren't for the Philly show, we'd know basically nothing about this set.

(**Edit #1**)

Aha!  I found a press release that was issued to dealers.  It states that there will be 9 puzzle cards, 6 chase cards and 3 ultra rare chase cards.

(**Edit #2**)

Artbox had rare and ultra rare foil chase cards for the 24 Season 4 set.  The 6 rare cards are numbered R1 to R6 and the 3 ultra rare cards are numbered UR1 to UR3.

6-card set:

I don't really like this idea of a tiered chase card system.  I'm just hoping it isn't to compensate for a lack of auto, prop, or costume cards in a box. I buy the boxes for those cards.

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: kbmum April 06, 2007, 07:51:23 AM
I looked through the 24 Season 4 box breakdowns on another site.  A box included two inserts (costume/prop/auto), 5 puzzle foils, 3 rare foils, 1 ultra rare foil, 2 base sets, and a box topper.  Just like with HP, an occasional box had a third insert.  The foil puzzles are PZ1-PZ10.

If Artbox does the same for its HP sets, I'll be happy. :)

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: Harbottle April 06, 2007, 10:27:31 PM
I agree with kbmum. A lot of people got burned on COS and just don't want to commit before buying. Remember the phantom Julie Waters auto card. Wheres that gone? Thought it might turn up in this set like Artbox did with the GOF Unmemorable moments autograph stitch-up ( 4 unknown death-eaters and a bunch of late autos from previous sets). Also more recycled props and costume cards to boot. For the first time ever I am not buying a case of HP cards. I think Artbox have decided to suck the collector dry. I'll save a ton by going on eBay. The auto line-up at the moment is dire, bar Daniel Radcliffe, who no doubt will only be signing the rarest card by a good few miles. I probably sound a right miserable git but I only post nowadays when I smell a rat. Limited information at this late stage can mean only one thing - Run Away!!! Run to the hills...............

Yours disillusioned with the route Potter is taking, Steve ( actually normally a happy person ) :D

I decided a long time ago that I would no longer buy boxes of cards for any Artbox Potter release. I see no reason why I should change my mind now either ::)

I'll join Steve and Jackie's "club" if I may ;)

The order deadline is currently April 16.  That's one week away, but we still don't have any decent, confirmed details about the inserts.

I didn't think Artbox could get any worse on their information releases, but they've proved me wrong!

Congratulations Artbox!! ;D >:()

(that's probably the only time you'll see me use "congratulations" and "Artbox" in the same sentence ::))

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: The Razzer April 09, 2007, 09:02:19 PM
there was supposed to be a promo for the philly show, but artbox sent it back as the design was not correct.  So if the promo was not correct, what about the set cards?? i can see this set getting delayed just like all the previous sets.

and why don't artbox employ someone to run their website?? it's a complete joke.
Have they not heard of promoting products.  How do they expect the collector to collect cards they don't know about???  and do they really expect dealers to buy the product just on the HP brand reputation with no samples or info??...........yes they probably do.

there seems to be more info on the OOTP set than 3d at the moment.  They should just put the 3d set off, and release it after OOTP but before OOTPU.

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: grecopa April 09, 2007, 09:39:09 PM
Honestly, when I see them at Comicon, I intend to ask the hard questions.  Why not hire someone, or get a college intern to run the website?  Why don't you release all info about inserts like Rittenhouse and others?  Why so many sets in so little time frame?  Etc, etc, etc....
I would really like to know.

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: kbmum April 09, 2007, 11:34:58 PM
I think we'd all like to know the answers to those questions! ;)  Out of all the problems there, the most frustrating is the lack of info prior to release, with the release timing an extremely close second.

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: tialessa April 09, 2007, 11:45:26 PM
I personally want to know (in addition to the other two questions - info & timing) WHAT is the reasoning behind so many sets of promos?  Why possible reason do they have for continually printing promos with different colored foil?

good question!!     I have no idea

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)

The manufacturing costs for the promos are less expensive than a costume card for the binder case incentives? (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/kbmum/smilies/whistling2.gif)

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: Sharon April 16, 2007, 12:56:51 AM
I have just had a look at the new info and whilst I like a lot of the cards (the dual autos etc) I am very miffed about the case incentives.  Why is the Daily Prophet the 25 case incentive?  If Artbox read any of these sites they must know that is one of the most popular props they have ever made and one they have now put out of the reach of the average collector.  Why is the five case incentive the Dragon bag - one of the most expensive props from GOF?  There will now be loads of these, making the original one less special.  I still like the look of this set but I am not a happy bunny  >:(

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: grecopa April 16, 2007, 01:59:44 AM
I'm sure any one of us would be happy to be Artbox's unpaid HP consultant.  I wonder if they read this forum?

All and all, I'm pretty happy with the cards I have collected thus far, but I agree with Sharon.  No one wants to chase a rare card and have it pop up as a more common card in another set.  Or be chasing Prophets since POA and suddenly have one that you won't be able to buy, like Cindy.  It's all very discouraging.

There are many more tips that we could give them if they asked or browsed this site.  I guess we could bombard them with emails all the time, but I sure wish they would do a little market research on thier own.

: beatles99 April 16, 2007, 02:52:15 AM
I assure you that all of the people at Artbox reads this site on a regular bases..............Don't we have most of these costume/autograph/props ...sometimes more than once in other sets ??????????
I'm just having a hard time getting me head around this set as I don't see anything turning me on about it..Maybe the Sirius costume ???...I also may pass on this set or maybe pickup any prop/auto/costume card that I don't have 4 other times in previous sets released.........the shine is starting to dim on these HP cards for me....Maureen

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: kbmum April 16, 2007, 02:57:56 AM
Sara saw the mock-ups of some costume and prop cards at the Philly show.  Maybe she can tell us if the cards are horiztontal or vertical.

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: rns91294 April 16, 2007, 08:36:46 AM
The props and costumes are horizontal, like all the other sets.  Only the autos seemed to be vertical.

And if anyone read the NSU upcoming sets list, you will see that Artbox has a couple more 24 sets they plan to release this year too.  I don't know how they will manage to do all these sets at once and still keep up the quality.  I really hope they can do it, but I won't complain for certain sets to get delayed so that they can keep up the quality, and allow me time to save my money between sets.

One thing I'm really looking forward to is having another shot at a Lupin auto.  I hope so much that I can get one!  :o=

Fred, George, and the Krum/Diggory autos would be super as well.

At the moment the Ci1 Sirius Prison Costume card is the only one I'd be interested in purchasing.  I hope the fact that this is the first and only costume card for Sirius won't run the price up too high.

I doubt that the price will go to high - I know Tom Breyer usually lists his 2 case incentives for around 20.00-30.00 USD. But I think there will be a couple of variant versions of it. Probably a light grey version, dark grey version, and half and half.

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: kbmum April 17, 2007, 09:05:22 PM
The costume could have the shirt and trousers or the overcoat like one that recently sold at a Christies auction.  There could also be dirty or torn variants, too.  If I recall correctly, the GOFU 2-case Daily Prophet originally sold around $40 or $45 each.

There doesn't appear to be a number or writing on the costume.  Of course, with all of these pictures, I'm sure everyone is quite surprised that I want a Sirius costume card. ;)

That's JUST what I was thinking with 3D Troll Bogeys... LOVELY! (I don't think that translates to US English, and frankly you don't wish me to, but since we're headed down this slippery slope - in the Philosopher's Stone version of the movie they say "eaurgh, troll bogeys" - what is said in the SS version?)

Awwww, Ok - I know that they changed some of the rest of it (mostly any mention of the Philosopher's Stone) for your version, so wondered if they'd changed that too :)

This promo lark is quite baffling so far. Is it just one set of 9? I'm not sure, there may be some kind of 'version' to deal with ::)

I really can't decide if i should get any I like the look of it and I will want to collect it but the question is how much to get. I have to think of OOTP too

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: kbmum April 25, 2007, 04:48:53 AM
This set has great potential, but...I don't think it's fair to collectors or dealers to release 3D and OOTP only 21 days apart.  There will be people who won't have received their 3D order when OOTP is shipped, never mind how difficult it will be to collect two sets at the same time.  Both sets could suffer.

I just wanted to say that having seen these in person, I can promis you that the cards look much better than that promo does in that scan.  Of course, with anything 3D, the scan never looks right.

The price, however, well, that's a different story.  Is any promo worth that much?

I received the P1 Troll promo today and I have to say it's pretty neat!  The card is made of a thin, flexible plastic (not like the lenticular case loaders).  The image has depth -- both the troll head and the words "Harry Potter" seem to pop out from the card.  I honestly can't wait to see the rest of the set! :)

It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out.  Right now, Artbox is releasing 3D the last week of May, Season 5 of 24 the first week of June, and OOTP the third week of June.  That's a very ambitious schedule over a 22-day period. :o

Exactly why I am not thinking they will stick to it. I just can't see them staying on schedule, particularly with OOTP. Cindy's right--this will be interesting to see.

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: jfer21 May 02, 2007, 09:30:56 AM
Put me in with the group that is just going to get a box, not a case.  I'm more of an autograph collector, and with only two new ones (neither one I want), there doesn't seem to be a lot of incentive for me.  I can pick up the autographs I want elsewhere.  I'd rather save my money for OOTP.

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)

True, there are some repeats in autos, which is kind-of a bummer.  There are some that I would love to have, though, that I didn't get a chance to get from earlier sets: Lupin I would love to pull! The Krum/Diggory would be cool, since I don't have Krum.

Order of the Phoenix has the potential to be huge for autographs!  :o :) ;)

I got this e-mail today:

Artbox has announced a sell out on the very limited print run of The World of Harry Potter 3-D

From Tom, he says he has a few cases left.

As for OoTP, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were delayed until August or so.

What does it matter though?  Artbox sold out another one without giving us any information. ???

Until half the print run sits there on release day, there is no motivation for them to do anything different.

Ed

: Re: World of HP: 3D card list (incomplete)
: ferdinand_the_yak May 03, 2007, 08:51:32 AM
Sadly Ed, you are right :P

Artbox knows that it can rely on the Harry Potter name to sell out of any release. With the ongoing lack of communications and, let's face it, lacklustre sets (yes, the 3D concept is interesting, but worth a new set?), I'm surprised that people are still buying this stuff.

I'll buy one or two cards that interest me and a base set. Not risking the usual 1/2 case with this one.

I don't think this set will be pushed back coz if it does, then OOTP will also be pushed back too. It sure doesn't make sense to have the trading set released after a few months of the movie screening.

If they were to move the release date, it could come out between OOTP and OOTPU, or even after OOTPU.

Whatever way they do it, it's chaos. The distributer order deadline has been and gone and we still don't have definitive information on the set. If this were Rittenhouse, Inkworks or Topps, we would have had all the card information and potentially insert odds as well.

Business as usual at Artbox ::)

It's just ridiculous that we don't have any information about this set.  Granted, we know the autos, but costumes, props, and the insertion ratios are still unknowns and we are about two weeks from the proposed release date.  :-\  :P

I am really frustrated with this aswell, I always order the Harry potter as I am a massive fan myself. I would say with future sets I will wait for concrete information but every set sells out  >:() so it is impossible to make a calculated decision. As always once cases start being opened I guess it is us at the shack who will have the best and most comprehensive set listing. At least there is somekind of silver lining  ;D

This is what I'm going to miss about not getting this set....It's usually a race between
Anna and myself to post first on the new sets....now I'm going to have to wait.  :(
I really enjoyed the rush!!  ::)

The first few cases...the surprise pulls...the race to see who will be first to post with new info...It's always a lot of fun here on the first day of an HP release! :)

Yeah not too long to wait now I am opening 3 of my 5 cases at the moment but that could change based upon the finds. Just hope my luck carries over from spiderman.  :o=

Cant wait.

Thanks Terry :) I have some emails etc. to get through. It's only a flying visit back home for the weekend, but I move into my new place tomorrow and hopefully I'll get the net up and running in no time :) I've missed you all too ... I can't tell you how much I have smiled today reading through some of the posts :D
