: GOFU Variant Cards : tialessa May 30, 2006, 09:53:50 PM Which cards have variants?
Which are your favorite variants? I know the following: C8/Cedric has black, yellow, or black & yellow C10/Fleur has blue or silver C11/Harry has black or burgandy Ci3/Daily Prophet has multiple P01/Irish Flag has green or silver P03 has multiple P04 has multiple P06 has plain orange or writing P07 has various colors - blue, green, brown, multiple colors, etc. P09 has white or black or writing P10 has multiple P11 has plain or writing : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Anna May 30, 2006, 10:06:52 PM Jackie pointed out that C8 has two versions of yellow, one with a tight weave and the other with a looser weave, so this card has 4 versions.
For C14, I've seen red, black and red & black. For C4, I saw an auction for a black and purple swatch, so I'm assuming there are black and purple ones as well. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : LikORish-Spider May 31, 2006, 08:51:43 AM I have two purple, one with a vertical crease and one with a horizontal crease.
Deep purple. Hold it at an sngle and let the light bounce off it. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : rns91294 May 31, 2006, 11:11:35 PM I am pretty sure my C4 is black. How purple is the purple?
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily June 01, 2006, 12:04:23 AM It's a really deep purple! It's hard for me to tell the difference!! :P
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : rns91294 June 01, 2006, 04:52:31 AM Ryan says ours is purple. He must have better eyes than me :P
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily June 01, 2006, 05:11:22 AM Sara! Don't feel bad!! I have held back 3 of this card for myself! Just because I can't tell!! I need another opinion! ::)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : rns91294 June 01, 2006, 05:17:19 AM And unfortunately, they don't turn up the right color in a scan :-\, or I would tell you to scan them and let me see.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily June 01, 2006, 05:21:19 AM Looks like I'm keeping 3!! ::)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : rns91294 June 01, 2006, 06:28:33 AM Are all three different in color?
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily June 01, 2006, 06:55:05 AM One I know for sure, the other two, I can't tell!! I think I have one black and two purple! I think! ::)

: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Bogleg June 03, 2006, 03:17:27 PM Excellent card. Was it an Ebay box?
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Sharon June 03, 2006, 09:12:52 PM Congratulations Dave, I think you now have the card of this set, it is gorgeous :-*. Has anyone got a picture of the back of Cedric's jacket so we can match where it is from?
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily June 03, 2006, 09:59:38 PM WOW!! That's a nice pull!! Congrats Dave!!! 8)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Roz June 03, 2006, 10:56:19 PM Congratulations Dave, I think you now have the card of this set, it is gorgeous :-*. Has anyone got a picture of the back of Cedric's jacket so we can match where it is from? lol, it's easy for you to say sitting there owning the card from the last set ;D :P ;D No, seriously congrats to you both for great variant pulls last time and this ;) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : grecopa June 03, 2006, 11:12:57 PM That's an amazing card, DaveH!! :o So the patch would be a Hogwarts patch, not a Hufflepuff patch, right? Looks like maybe you have a piece of the Slytherin snake!
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Roz June 03, 2006, 11:56:30 PM Yeah that's what I was thinking Kelly.. it has to be a snake.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : kbmum June 03, 2006, 11:58:22 PM I am pretty sure my C4 is black. How purple is the purple? Hold your card in natural sunlight and tilt it. I thought mine was black, but when I tilted it and the light hit it right, the swatch was purple. There's something about velvet that looks dark from one angle, but the color pops through from another angle. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : beatles99 June 04, 2006, 12:46:00 AM Congrats DAVE THE BEST VARIANT YET !!!! to date !!!!!
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : EmmasOneandOnly June 04, 2006, 01:19:24 AM Has anyone got a picture of the back of Cedric's jacket so we can match where it is from? Its from the front of his jacket. (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y76/EmmasOneandOnly/Second%20Task%20Costume/cedswimsuit2.jpg) On the back of the jacket is his last name with a star below it in black, just like the tank-top. Kelly is right, it's the Slytherin snake.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : ECL June 04, 2006, 01:33:21 AM wow what an incredible variant!
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily June 04, 2006, 01:35:48 AM Thanks for posting that Mike!! 8)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : EmmasOneandOnly June 04, 2006, 01:37:43 AM Thanks for posting that Mike!! 8) Welcome ;D That is a nice variant! I hope we see more of the patch, a Hufflepuff variant would be nice too ;) Did anyone else see the striping from the sleeves variant on EBay? : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Tower June 04, 2006, 01:46:46 AM Mike helped me to locate the source of the one i pulled. :)
Must be one of the "DIGGORY" letters, maybe the Y. :) (http://www.towersweb.de/Cards/GOFUpdate/Costumes/C8 Cedric.jpg) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily June 04, 2006, 02:19:09 AM I was wondering where yours fit in Thomas! 8)
I can also see that the two different yellow materials, that I had posted, must be from the jacket! The sleeves are different than the main torso. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : grecopa June 04, 2006, 07:11:09 AM Have you all seen this?

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/AnnaO/GoFU%20Cards/P10_086-130.jpg) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : grecopa June 04, 2006, 07:24:57 AM I posted right before I got your PM! ;D
Everyone check out Anna's Comcast link! Woo-hoo baby! : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : rns91294 June 04, 2006, 07:25:18 AM :o Awesome book props!!!! :o And here, I thought just haveing some lettering on it was cool, but these blow me away.
And wow, what an amazing Cedric variant :o. Way to go :D The patch is just awesome ;D As for Maxime, I held mine to light and tilted it. It looks more like a burgandy/brown to me, but my husband says it is purple...so I guess I can go with that ;) And Anna, I love your Cedric wand too :D : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Anna June 04, 2006, 07:50:05 AM And Anna, I love your Cedric wand too :D Thanks, I think it's my favorite card in the set, followed by the Hermione Book. ;D Thank you Tom! :D : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : ECL June 04, 2006, 09:48:12 AM Amazing wand cards!! I've been trying to get a hold of one, but it's really hard to find sellers that actually have them.

And those books :o :o. I had assumed they were all plain. Now for me being me time. Has anyone got a picture of the front of Hermione's book so we can match the book swatches?
I had thought this set was very thin on the ground when it came to variants but it seems they were just slow to appear. Keep 'em coming ;D : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : kbmum June 04, 2006, 09:16:42 PM I've been searching for a picture of Hermione's book, but haven't found anything yet. The Leaky Cauldron site had a great picture gallery, but they've redone it and now it's terrible! There are still a ton of pictures, but it's very difficult to use. For instance, all of the GOF screencaps are in reverse order from the movie and you can advance only one page at a time. You can't skip ahead and if you select a picture, you can't go back to the page that had that thumbnail. It starts you back at page 1! It took me 20-30 minutes to advance to the last page (the beginning of the movie) and I couldn't stop to look at any picture because then I would have had to start all over again.
Anyway, that's a long-winded way of saying that I haven't been able to locate any good shots. We've seen so many different colors and variants that it's a bit hard to believe they all came from one book. We don't even know which one it could be. I went back to the GOF book and there's no mention of Hermione reading a book during that scene. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Tower June 05, 2006, 01:41:30 AM Congrats Anna and Jackie for your black/yellow striped Cedric (and me for my pull). ;D The one on ebay ended with $116. :o Oh, and i'm sorry, a new forum member has been overbidden. :'(
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : tialessa June 05, 2006, 08:04:21 PM I'm trying to decide on these two cards... both I feel are reasonably priced so I'm about to pick these up... I'm not going for a master set - just picking up a few here & there...
C8 w/ a bit of black trim (http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/5473/gofc89lv.jpg) P7 w/ bit a 2nd color (http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/2530/gofp78gt.jpg) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : padge77 June 05, 2006, 08:09:08 PM I have just seen on Ebay a Ultimate Master Set every single card for $2,995 (approximatly £1560.00)
If any one needs the direct link I will post to save everyone's searching time. Hope this helps the forum members with loads of money!!! Paul : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Tower June 05, 2006, 08:12:19 PM There is only a Master Set from GOF (not GOFU) for this price. And one of GOFU for $3,995 but 3 cards missing (of the 25 case incentives). 8)

The auction link you posted is for almost a master set. As Thomas (Tower) posted above, this set is missing 3 of the 4 25-case incentives: Ci4a (Harry), Ci4c (Fleur) and Ci4d (Viktor). This set only shows incentive Ci4b (Cedric). : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Tower June 05, 2006, 09:01:33 PM And it' still $1,000 more than you posted. 8) ;)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : beatles99 June 05, 2006, 11:30:11 PM So let's call it the Almost Utimate Master Set (1 of a possible 28!!! or would that be 1 out of 112 ?)...I still think from other set sales in the past (except SS which I don't know) That all others sets that I know were sold with all cards offered in the set, incentives and all...if the other past sets had you a 25 case insentive card then you really did have a Master set.....the good news for me is that when I put my 2 wand cards finally up for sale that there will at least 10-15 people with at least 1 Wand card looking for it's mate..and another 50 that would be gob smacked just to have one in their set...Maureen
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Tower June 05, 2006, 11:33:13 PM the good news for me is that when I put my 2 wand cards finally up for sale ... You don't want to tell me, that you have plans to sell them, or do you have? ::) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Nienna June 06, 2006, 12:27:31 AM Ooooooo Thomas!! You sound like you're about to faint at the thought of these cards for sale!! ::)
Sorry ... I just couldn't resist teasing you ... :P ^-^ : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Tower June 06, 2006, 12:30:10 AM  No, i think, i won't buy more of these cards than i already did. ;)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : beatles99 June 06, 2006, 12:54:09 AM Well not just yet Thomas.......I have been thinking of though...not seeing any other auctions, it's hard to tell what I'd expect to get..well at least my money back???
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Tower June 06, 2006, 12:55:57 AM Yes, at least. :) BTW: I still need an answer to my PMs. ::)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Nienna June 06, 2006, 12:56:24 AM  No, i think, i won't buy more of these cards than i already did. ;) ahhhhhhh hahahahahaha ... okay Thomas! I'll remind you of this post when you've gone and bought them at some future date! ;) ;D Mo ... you'll get your arm ripped off if you put those on ebay anytime soon - I don't think you'll have any problems getting your money back on them plus a bit extra. ;) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily June 06, 2006, 12:58:11 AM Congrats Anna and Jackie for your black/yellow striped Cedric (and me for my pull). ;D The one on ebay ended with $116. :o Oh, and i'm sorry, a new forum member has been overbidden. :'( Thanks Thomas!! ;D I was so ecstatic when I saw the BIN! ;D I think Anna's and mine are reversed. Meaning, mine is black yellow black and (I'm not sure, could be wrong, can't remember ::) ) Anna's was yellow black yellow. 8) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : DaveH June 06, 2006, 02:39:15 AM I have decided to sell my Rare C8 Variant Costume Card on :ebay:.

: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Roz June 06, 2006, 04:06:09 AM Not true ;) I don't want to dig up old discussions but I think it's around the same price as that C14 Karkaroff blue, and it's a prettier card than that one was ;)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : beatles99 June 06, 2006, 04:21:19 AM Oh yes that card..... I stand corrected...I still think that was a mistake swatch and not a variant
I'll stick with mine only $76 (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a208/beatles99/9c_1.jpg) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily June 06, 2006, 07:21:17 AM It's really a lovely card. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : LikORish-Spider June 06, 2006, 11:28:59 AM Yeah, But I thought he was wearing a Ravenclaw tunic.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : blackcat20 June 06, 2006, 11:56:17 AM He is, but I guess they decided to put a hogwarts crest on it becuase he is competing for the school, not ravenclaw :-\
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : LikORish-Spider June 06, 2006, 12:00:53 PM Well, that explains it.

: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Anna June 06, 2006, 09:58:24 PM Ouch, one quad is expensive enough without taking variants into consideration :o I agree, getting two Quads would be taking variant collecting to an extreme. :o : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Bogleg June 06, 2006, 11:10:16 PM Looks to me like their playing Trivial Pursuit

Now, this isn't as impressive a Cedric varient as the ones we've seen with bits o'the Hogwarts shield or parts o'the name from the back, but I still like it for the simple varient it is:

Maybe the black is part of the "D" or "I" in Diggory. :D That's what I'd say if it were mine. ;)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Tower June 07, 2006, 12:49:22 AM No, it can't be from a letter, they are much larger. It must be a stripe from the sleeves.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : EmmasOneandOnly June 07, 2006, 12:50:21 AM This is a nice one, from one of the letters on the back

I found this set picture at The Leaky Cauldron. I'm beginning to wonder if some of the material comes from the furniture as well as the drapery.

Dave. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Nienna June 18, 2006, 12:42:50 AM Yep, you're right Dave, those two have definitely been removed from the description which was originally posted on the auction. :-\
The Fleur costume was particularly nice - it looked like the gold lettering from her initials 'FD'. ;) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : sweinar2005 July 15, 2006, 05:41:22 AM It looks like the variant Fleur First Task jacket, and the Rita Skeeter Dark Brown Note Pad Variant are no longer included, as they have been replaced for the more common swatches. |:# Dave. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : ztaylork October 09, 2006, 10:05:45 AM Not sure if anyone still cares much about the variants on this set, but I just pulled these 2 that looked pretty nice (and I just pulled 6 more Quads, for a total of 11 Quads :) )

: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : ztaylork October 09, 2006, 11:33:19 PM Ya, the Fleur was fun, after seeing "C10" like 20 times, its great to flip one over that looks like that :) And the stadium banners card is so bright and pretty in person, and yes it is covered in paint that is cracked, really cool. The Fleur is scheduled ot hit ebay this Wednesday, along with a bunch of other nice cards. :)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : grecopa October 09, 2006, 11:34:55 PM I'm ALWAYS interested in looking at varients. Nice pulls, Zach!
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : 5594mike October 10, 2006, 12:40:05 AM wonderful!!! yeah that banner card dose look like its cracking, maybe its part of a printed image or word of one of the triwiards names OOOOOW ::) ::)
upp theirs my imagination runnig off again... ;) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : The Razzer January 29, 2007, 03:40:54 AM just looking at the C10 fleur variant, i pulled this one from one of my cases i had.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Harry-Potter-GoFU-Rare-Fleur-C10-Variant-Costume-Card_W0QQitemZ280072583350QQihZ018QQcategoryZ73570QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=1738318&mpre=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/Harry-Potter-GoFU-Rare-Fleur-C10-Variant-Costume-Card_W0QQitemZ280072583350QQihZ018QQcategoryZ73570QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) but sold it the person now selling it. i sold it to him for £105 :) so was a bit >:() when i saw it back on :ebay: straight away. especially starting at £275. it is now lower though but still >:() that's just the nature of the beast i suppose. i got what i wanted for it so good luck to him. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : DaveH January 29, 2007, 03:18:07 PM I think that the last one of these sold for between $400 and $500.
The C10 varient is very rare, and I would have put a similar price on it if i had won the card. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Sharon January 29, 2007, 05:56:57 PM Have a look at the Charmed Phoebe costume they have for sale. Boggy pointed that out to me a few days ago. They bought it for half the price they now have it up for - if memory serves they had it back up for sale only a day or two after they bought it. I have noticed more and more people doing this - buying cards for an immediate turn around rather than for their collection. Don't get me wrong, I am not moaning (well not too much ;) ) as it is an open market and if people can see a profit ...... I do think some are going to be in for a mighty big fall though. Card collectors are people not bottomless wallets and there are only a limited number of 'big' spenders out there. I can see the price of cards going up so much that people can't get complete sets and just give up on them altogether.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : The Razzer January 30, 2007, 02:05:16 AM i'm a bit gutted i sold it now :'( all i have now is a plain blue swatch.
another varient i remember seeing on :ebay: was a blue Karkaroff variation. This sold for a high price also for a high numbered card. all the others are white, where does the blue come from?? can't remember if this was update or the original set. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Roz January 30, 2007, 02:09:23 AM Can open... worms ... everywhere:
http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,3618.0.html : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : The Razzer January 30, 2007, 04:21:55 AM thanks for that roz. :)
makes it a bit clearer i suppose :-\ : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : terryweasley January 30, 2007, 04:24:15 AM That card must be an error. I have a similar error for the Beaubaton Card.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/tspil/GofF-Costume-cards.jpg) It has the Karkaroff material instead of the blue material. Artbox veried the card was and error. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : grecopa January 30, 2007, 04:36:58 AM Well, that's pretty cool. I've seen the blue Karkaroff, but not the white Beaubaton. 8)
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Nienna January 30, 2007, 04:39:19 AM WOW!! That's a different variation - thanks for posting it Terry! 8) ;D
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : beatles99 January 30, 2007, 05:02:13 AM Thanks for showing the two different cards with the same swatch material............finally !!!!!!!! I said it months ago and I'll say it again...the blue Karkoff was an error card...as in this one is also an error card...Hey Terry you can sell it for $450..if you list it and claim that without this error card....no wait I mean variant you can't have a true master set....just like the Blue Karkoff listing...the'll be busting down your door with cash in hand wanting to get it....Maureen
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Roz January 30, 2007, 05:16:58 AM There we go... I knew the worms would be out.
To me it makes no difference. It's still a variation on the norm... it's just not a "special" bit of costume (patch, seam etc.) which we have come to associate with the word variant. I don't think that it sold at the price because it was described as a "variant", and I don't think that the OP will be selling anyway. : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : beatles99 January 30, 2007, 06:21:37 AM I hate to differ on this one with you Roz but that Karkoff blue card did sell at that price ...because the word Variant was all over the listing...remember the listing with quotes of.... only 2 ever seen both in the U.K./can't be a true master set without it.......in the listing nowhere did I ever see the word ERROR on that listing...THIS IS where the discussion started was it a true variant or a true error
In the sense of card collecting sports or nonsports...a variant card is something that is completely different...but should be on the card An error card is something that wasn't suppose to be on the card, or has nothing to do with that particular card....like swatches or printing for that matter : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Bitsy January 30, 2007, 12:08:08 PM Congratulations Zack! Those are excellent variants! :o LOVE the Fleur variant--it's gorgeous. The banner prop is absolutely amazing--the best! :o
The blue Karkaroff and White Beauxbatons cards are clearly mistakes, but it sort of makes them different, I guess...I had gotten a GOF filmcard that had two filmcells one on top of the other, both of Hermione--the weird part...one was a close up of Hermione in GOF, the other was of Hermione in her pink sweater from POA. ??? I wound up keeping it because it was different. :-\ : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : blackcat20 January 30, 2007, 01:09:23 PM Didnt the GOF trailer have clips from the earlier three movies, showing the "growing up" of the characters? That would explain the two different Hermione pics...
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Roz January 30, 2007, 05:27:41 PM I hate to differ on this one with you Roz but that Karkoff blue card did sell at that price ...because the word Variant was all over the listing...remember the listing with quotes of.... only 2 ever seen both in the U.K./can't be a true master set without it.......in the listing nowhere did I ever see the word ERROR on that listing...THIS IS where the discussion started was it a true variant or a true error In the sense of card collecting sports or nonsports...a variant card is something that is completely different...but should be on the card An error card is something that wasn't suppose to be on the card, or has nothing to do with that particular card....like swatches or printing for that matter Well we all know the person who purchased it - why don't you ask her? : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Sharon January 30, 2007, 07:12:56 PM I had a little Google to define variant. There was loads of definitions but here are a couple -
A slightly different version of a figure, typically found in smaller numbers than its standard counterpart. Can either be due to a change in production, such as the three Jean Grey figures from the X-Men movie line, or a specific choice on the part of the manufacturer, such as the yellow and brown Daredevil from Spider-Man Classics Series II. discrepancy: an event that departs from expectations I'm not quite sure why the first one singles out the X Men but as I like the X Men I thought it was appropriate ;D ;D ;D Bottom line is that the blue Karkaroff and White Beauxbatons are a slightly different versions of the original. How that occured is neither here nor there, provided they haven't been tampered with post production. And I will bet my eye teeth that there is not one serious collector on the Shack who would have returned either of these cards to Artbox for them to replaced with 'correct cards'. I would have loved to have pulled either of these cards and congratulate whoever has them in their collection now. No they are not essential for a master set but I certainly don't blame the seller for putting this in their Ebay listing - how many times have you seen the ultra rare Lupin Shirt up for sale ;). Yes Roz we are now knee deep in lumbricidae, should I throw in Boggy's white Arwen at this stage   : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Roz January 30, 2007, 07:46:03 PM Nope I wouldn't have returned it ;D
I tried offering all sorts of things to Graham for the Arwen - huge quantities of money, his own personal cartoonist (yes, Britain might have been the one to abolish slavery, but I was ready to start it again :P) etc. but he wasn't for budging ;D : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : kbmum January 30, 2007, 09:04:12 PM Variant, variation, or error -- In the end, does it really matter? If someone is willing to pay any given amount for a card that's different from the norm, more power to 'em.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : HPfamily January 30, 2007, 09:27:21 PM There we go... I knew the worms would be out. Ya know.....My son ate a worm once...... :-X ;) ;) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Galea January 30, 2007, 11:57:04 PM I had gotten a GOF filmcard that had two filmcells one on top of the other, both of Hermione--the weird part...one was a close up of Hermione in GOF, the other was of Hermione in her pink sweater from POA. ??? I wound up keeping it because it was different. :-\ If the POA scene is in the GOF trailer then it sounds more like a nice variant to me than an error filmcard. Look: (http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/7205/img1898adz7.jpg) It's one of my favorite filmcards, it has Harry from Sorcerer's Stone changing into Harry from COS and the filmcard is of Harry in GOF so it's like 3 Harrys in a CFC. And i consider it a variant, at least that's what it is to me, even if someone else were to tell me it's an error i'd still keep it. So that one's a keeper Bitsy, congrats ;)! : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : kbmum January 31, 2007, 12:20:52 AM Wow, I love it! That's definitely a keeper, for both of you. :D
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : terryweasley January 31, 2007, 03:14:07 AM Well, I bought it off of ebay as a varient. Would you believe I only paid a BIN price of $21.95? I think it's a nice addition to my collection. Artbox offered to replace it, but I already had both the light blue and the dark blue, so I decided to keep it.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : LikORish-Spider January 31, 2007, 08:17:10 AM Well, I bought it off of ebay as a varient. Would you believe I only paid a BIN price of $21.95? That's a lot like mine, except mine has Hermione! It never dawned on me that it could have been a transition through the films. Wow! Thank you for sharing, Galea! I guess we have a couple of filmcard variants...and I am definitely keeping it! :) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Sharon January 31, 2007, 06:14:42 PM Well, I bought it off of ebay as a varient. Would you believe I only paid a BIN price of $21.95? I think it's a nice addition to my collection. Well that's even better ;D Congratulations (and yes I am jealous ;D ;D ;D) Those film cells are brilliant. I can now see how they would be the transition scenes, very rare ;D ;D : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : sweinar2005 February 04, 2007, 12:10:16 AM An error card is something that wasn't suppose to be on the card, or has nothing to do with that particular card....like swatches or printing for that matter Well we all know the person who purchased it - why don't you ask her? I was looking for variants at the time and was emailing Richard (cardvault) about specific variants and I brought up the Igor costume card that had the blue swatch. I had only seen one on ebay scousse691, was the seller. I questioned the legitimacy of the card because there is no visible blue in the costume. He then stated that he had one as well. I then emailed Tom Breyer and asked him if he knew anything about blue being in the costume or if he knew of any errors in production. Tom then contacted artbox and artbox said it had to be an error in production. After several emails back and forth between myself, Richard and Tom; I guess Richard decided to listed the card as BIN on ebay, possibly to see if I or someone else would pay that much for it. I bought it out of curiosity. It was of course the dark blue material from the beauxbatons uniform. In light of what I have paid for some of my "variants" - it wasn't that bad of a deal. I believe the one scouse sold went for around 210 USD. Think its interesting that there is a beauxbatons card with the Igor material. Wouldn't be interested in selling it would you? 8) I consider my card an error, not a variant. I bought it specifically because it was an error and there were not many of them; only 2 that I know of. I agree its not required for the set to be a master set. :) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : Roz February 04, 2007, 02:11:10 AM He hee - hey Edith - if you don't ask, you don't get so it was always worth asking TerryW ;) but I don't think you'll be lucky this time.
I think that TerryW's demonstrates that somewhere the Karkaroff and Beaubatons costumes got mixed up, and I think you are both very lucky to own them :) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : sweinar2005 February 05, 2007, 11:30:56 PM Well I did make a PM offer. Which she did turn down. :'( I don't blame her I wouldn't sell it either. Although I have found someone who has an Igor card that has the light blue beauxbatons material. ;D Just bought it. 8) and not nearly for what I paid for the one I already have or what I offered TW.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : terryweasley February 06, 2007, 11:32:26 PM I have to ask how and where do you dind these people who have such unusual cards.
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : beatles99 February 06, 2007, 11:51:20 PM Oh you can ask Terry but you won't get an answer.....that's up to the individual to tell you the contacts they have built up over the years now
: Re: GOFU Variant Cards : kbmum February 07, 2007, 06:04:56 AM I have to ask how and where do you dind these people who have such unusual cards. A lot of variants end up on eBay. There are also dealers who have websites. It takes some patience and perseverance to find them, but the effort is worth it in the long run. :) : Re: GOFU Variant Cards : sweinar2005 February 08, 2007, 10:06:46 AM The Igor light blue error card I found on a card web site called toywiz.com the same seller I got the Sorcerer's Stone wizard candy card of the Exploding BON BON with the face of the the little man in it. Most of the variants I get are by ebay but now and then after literally hours of searching google for web sites outside of ebay; I have come across the rare good variant. I got my book of monsters variant with small portion of the title from a guy called emainstreetscards or something like it. there is definitely emainstreet in the name of the site. I got a really good variant of the COS C10 Hermione costume (scarf with white pink and blue) for an extremely low price off another small site.
