It really looks great per box. If I have this right, only 4 boxes out of your 2 cases had only 1 auto/prop/costume/filmcard. All the others had 2. That gives me great hope. Thanks! ;D
: Re: SS Case break outs : Tower May 19, 2005, 03:44:36 AM Wow, that has been 2 extremely good cases, congrats! :D
4 of the rare cards (100-140), that's impressive. Normally every card of them will appear all 6-8 cases. And you've got all 4 in 2 cases. Wow! :) : Re: SS Case break outs : Tower May 19, 2005, 03:51:07 AM it had the DEVIL"S SNARE, John Cleese, John Hurt, and Leslie Phillips. So I think it was a good case. Yes, sounds like a brilliant case, there was also the Chocolate Frog. :) Edit: Ah, i saw your edit. ;D : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ferdinand_the_yak May 19, 2005, 08:21:45 AM John, I hope you don't mind me renaming this thread so it is consistent witht the other breakdown thread titles :)

Pictures of all known cards in this set can be found... Here! http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/tradingcards/index.php?page=cardlist&set=7 : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : allender May 19, 2005, 03:55:29 PM Okay, that's starting to show some statistics. If they hold up, it looks like the film cels are coming in at 3/case and the props, autos, and costumes at a close simulation to almost 5/case. That would put insertion ratios at approximately 1:80 packs for the cels and 1:48 packs for each of the others.
The sum of all of the prop card numbered-to numbers is an even 5000. Costumes add up to 5560, with the Slytherin costumes from Roz's sell sheet still unspotted. Let's assume that one exists and is numbered to 440. Film Cards 3573 ... if 3/case for 800 cases = 2400 in packs ... 67% Costumes 6000 ... if 5/case for 800 cases = 4000 in packs ... 67% Prop Cards 5000 ... if 5/case for 800 cases = 4000 in packs ... 80% We'll see if there are slightly more costumes than prop cards, eventually. But I think we have enough data to start tracking autograph pulls and estimate the total numbers for each. 8) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : LikORish-Spider May 20, 2005, 12:12:15 AM Case 4 results: See the "------------------------------------------------Corrected" lines below and corrected "Jan" Hart to "Ian" Hart (OK, I can't read... ;D)

The one after Fluffy is of the side of the card. It is a little off to the right, but that thick white thing you see is its thickness.

: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : rns91294 May 22, 2005, 09:42:47 AM Thanks!! Oh, and the fluffy card, it is the one sitting on top of the case, which is holding a LOTR costume card. And I thought those were thick. Ha!
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna May 22, 2005, 09:53:04 AM Ooooh! I like the stripes on Harry's PJs too! Real nice! ;D And those Fluffy's Furs are thick! The Devil's Snare is supposed to be even thicker that! :o LikORIsh could tell us for sure.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : morenomark May 22, 2005, 04:10:31 PM Wow. I guess it's been a long time since I posted here, but here goes.

All Auto/Costume boxes were on the right. Each box contained five Foil Cards. One box I collated had exactly two base sets with no extras. Artbox is like the kid who got caught being bad. They're now on their best behavior. :D My one complaint is that some cards are just too big. I like to store my cards in their respective albums. When I saw the "Fluffy" card I started looking around for a glass to sit on it. It's like a coaster. When I held it out to a friend of mine he said, "Wow! Is that a whole stack of cards?" No, just one, and it's too big. It's almost like Artbox is saying, "See what we can do..." My one bit of advise for them would be to stop making cards this big. How are we supposed to store them? Take a look at Inkworks' Pieceworks cards. They've got the right idea. No more coasters please. Overall, a good comeback after the POAU fiasco. I plan on buying two more cases, but I'm still miffed about the "giant" Props and Costumes. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : allender May 22, 2005, 04:42:53 PM morenomark, that's only nine boxes. :P
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : morenomark May 22, 2005, 05:00:02 PM Hey, you're right.
Box #6340 Box Topper: BT4 Autograph Card: Devin Murray/Seamus Finnigan Costume Card: Argus Filch’s Coat -- 66/360 Foil Cards: R3, 4, 5, 7, and 9 Thank you, Jeff Allender, Master of Checklists. Love to get your take on Artbox's "progress". : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : allender May 22, 2005, 05:50:44 PM Love to get your take on Artbox's "progress". I don't know if my take means much, but it's looked to me like Artbox has been watching carefully. When they got the Potter franchise they could see the huge popularity of the LOTR sets by Topps, and it wasn't a mistake that they patterned a good part of the design on that phenomenon. I was telling myself that HP had the same sort of crossover potential as LOTR, and on that fact alone I figured it would be hot enough to spring for more than a case for myself. And that thought was confirmed when they even hired Gary Gerani to design and write the set. When POA was successful beyond their dreams, they overdid it for POAU, but there wasn't quite time enough for them to see that Topps too had overestimated the demand for ROTK and ROTKU and needed to change directions for Trilogy.POAU was a much bigger endeavour than they had ever attempted. They had to find additional printing and packaging job-shops, and there were problems with collation and even quality in a few instances. But with TSS, they seem to have noticed all of the earlier issues and haven't repeated "mistakes". So it looks to me like they are entitled to make some reasoned (but unsuccessful) marketing decisions, come up with a dud or two from time to time, but they adapt quickly for the next releases. Now they need some help with their website. :-\ Okay, I'll add a bit of "odds" info. Data are in on only 11.8 cases, and it will be better when gimli makes a dent in his supply, but I'm tracking the frequencies of autos so that we can get an estimate of their numbers. So far I see 60 autos from 118 boxes, distributed as: 8 - Hart 7 - Flitwick, Lewis 6 - Rawlins, Somerville 4 - Youngblood 3 - Bank Teller, Enoch, Fearon, Herdman, Murray, Phillips 2 - Cleese, Hurt I'm guessing the groupings are something like 750, 300, and 150 each. A bit early to make indelible conclusions, though! To be honest, it's too soon to make a decision whether to keep it. Geez, will I ever get this RIGHT?
The corrections are well annotated. The following case breakdowns were corrected; Case 2: Summary Case 4: Summary Case 2,3, and 4, I made corrections to Ian Hart's name. I was unfamiliar with his name and the back of the card has an ambigious I/J font. Sorry 'bout that. :'( :'( I discovered this error, so case breakdowns for case 5,6, and 7 have his name correct. It was minor and at the time (heat of scaning and posting PIX. etc.) and I put it on the back burner. Since I am a fanatic about accuracy, I just couldn't stand leaving it uncorrected. Roz, knows I am a friendly "nitpicker". Sorry again to all you closet perfectionist, including me. ;D In case you doubt it, note the time, and I've been up since 03:00. I must be part OWL.....Did I say that? Too much HP. Wait a minute...there can never be TOO much HP! What am I saying. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : mcgonagall May 25, 2005, 04:07:30 PM i think it is time for some sleep

A few months before release FTY: Hey Roz, how many SS boxes are you getting Roz: Hmmm... I think maybe a couple A bit later... FTY: Are you still getting a couple of boxes? Roz: I am thinking of getting a case. Yes, that sounds like a good idea. FTY: Hmmm... A bit later still... FTY: A case, is it then? Roz: No, I am thinking of mortgaging my parents' house, mortgaging Mark's sketching career, selling off part of Cambridge University and winning the lottery and buying up a quarter of the production run. 2000 cases, I believe. Yes. Good plan FTY: Jolly good then. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz May 26, 2005, 04:01:17 PM Honestly... fancy revealing our private discussions on a public forum such as this!

I pulled a 4 Privet Drive letter number 8. With the right hand side of the Hogwarts Crest on. I have been thoroughly scolded for opening box number one, apparently I might have ruined someone's dreams of owning it sealed, but transporting single boxes around the world only ends up with them in battered ruins if you ask me... it's far better off opened and a Privet drive card in my collection :D If I had seen the number before I tore off the wrapping I would have put it to a vote on here what to do :) I'm REALLY pleased with my choccie Frog - it has gold leaf on the paper too - I must get home to my scanner soon :D : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : rns91294 May 26, 2005, 09:04:27 PM Yes, I would like to see. Was that the only card in box 1? Not that anything would be wrong with that!!!
I envy all of you who pulled some great cards!! I still have two boxes to go, but I don't have that sort of luck. Didn't with the past sets either, but I seem to be happy with anything, as long as it is not a dud box!!! : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz May 26, 2005, 09:12:41 PM I did have a dud box in my first case, (true to form for Roz) but it was such an excellent case it didn't matter in the least bit, but if you are buying on a box scale it can be a case of either feast of famine from my experience :-\
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ferdinand_the_yak May 26, 2005, 09:14:04 PM Dud boxes >:() >:() >:() >:()
If I get one, >:() >:() >:() >:() *insert rude words here* >:() >:() >:() >:() This is especially given what we have seen come out of other people's cases! : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : gimli May 26, 2005, 09:27:46 PM I thought you might want to see some of the variations I pulled in 10 cases
daily Prophets (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/chrischidgey/daily-profit.jpg) wand boxes I pulled 2 varients I have not seen any others like them yet one with writing and the other with a label (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/chrischidgey/wand-box.jpg) and then my candy boxes I love these cards there especially the fizzing wizzbees (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/chrischidgey/candy.jpg) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ferdinand_the_yak May 26, 2005, 09:33:18 PM Beautiful Chris, they are some of the nicest props I have seen! I just hope I can get one in my boxes :)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : rns91294 May 26, 2005, 09:37:47 PM Yes Chris, I agree. I must say, I really thought I wanted a blue wand box, but now that I have seen your purple one!!! I love it!!!!
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : kbmum May 26, 2005, 09:38:01 PM I love the Fizzing Whizzbees card! I don't remember ever seeing that particular swatch before.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : grecopa May 26, 2005, 09:47:39 PM I love the Fizzing Whizzbees card! I don't remember ever seeing that particular swatch before. Yes, LOVE the bee's. I'm so jealous!: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : beckham1 May 26, 2005, 10:00:44 PM Roz,
I am curious when you say a dud box, are we talking total dud box? I had 5 film cells in one case (one box only had a film cell no auto or prop/costume) 4 props, 5 costumes, and 4 autos. So overall there were 18 inserts, but I certainly didn't need 5 film cells instead of 3 :-\ Would have preferred to get the other prop and auto. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : rns91294 May 26, 2005, 10:02:24 PM I think by Dud box that she means one box had no special inserts in it at all. But she did say the case was worth it, and made up for it. Would just suck if you ordered only a box or two and got the one with nothing in it.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz May 26, 2005, 10:03:04 PM Dud as in - no prop, no costume, no auto and no film card, I think it had a box topper and foils as normal, but that's not anything to write home... or indeed to write to the forum about!
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : beckham1 May 26, 2005, 10:23:31 PM I had a box with two box toppers :P You will never top that.
I was assuming you meant nothing in the dud box, (just thought I would ask) but I would also consider one with only a film cell card a dud, but that may be just me. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz May 26, 2005, 10:24:39 PM Well I wouldn't be over the moon with a box with just a film cell in, but at least it's SOMETHING :)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : rns91294 May 26, 2005, 10:30:46 PM I agree!! I would rather get something than nothing any day :)

Box #7390/8000 BT1 (i think, need to double check) various foils Practice Broom prop361/450 that is one thick card! dont know where Im going to put it... ::) Anyways, one more box to open, but from another case...hopefully Ill actually get a card that I want... :P : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz May 27, 2005, 03:59:35 PM Practice Broom prop361/450 that is one thick card! dont know where Im going to put it... ::) Ha hee - wait til you see Fluffy! : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : blackcat20 May 27, 2005, 04:17:34 PM Box 4
31471/8000 BT1 again various foils Seamus auto card Daily prophet 444/733 (finally a card that I really wanted, has the edges of some curly writing peeking in around the sides of the swatch..) So overall, not too bad, out of 4 boxes: 3 autos 2 props 2 costumes There are still a few cards that I would like so Ill start a topic in the other thread... : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : allender May 27, 2005, 10:29:15 PM Okay, here's my four boxes. Somewhat "below average" again, which is why I avoided case buy(s) this time; figured I would be luckier in the aftermarket because only a case or two can't get you very close to nirvanna! No interesting variants to scan, sorry!
Box 4641/8000 R1,R2,R3,R6,R8 BT1 1 auto - John Cleese 1 costume - Female Hogwarts Students 206/510 Base sets: 2 complete + 3 extra cards Box 3844/8000 R2,R4,R5,R7,R8 BT2 1 prop - Fluffy's Fur 194/700 (pack by itself) 1 cel - Wizard's Chess Base sets: short 3 cards for 2 complete sets, no extras Box 4066/8000 R2,R4,R5,R7,R8 BT2 1 prop - Practice Broom 424/450 (pack with 1 regular card) Base sets: short 6 cards for 2 complete sets, 6 extras Box 1592/8000 R1,R3,R5,R7,R9 BT4 1 prop - Cake Box 358/490 (pack with 5 regular cards) Base sets: 2 complete sets with 3 extras So, no dud boxes but only averaging 1.5 high-chase per box. I can't complain too much, but I am disappointed that all four of my props and costumes are "featureless"! I have to satisfy myself with statistics, instead of "gee whiz, lookatthis!" :-\ : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Tea_and_Fruit May 27, 2005, 10:32:26 PM Hey but you got a John Cleese Auto. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : allender May 27, 2005, 10:51:52 PM Hey but you got a John Cleese Auto. Thats a card someone like me would kill someone like you >:D Sorry 'bout that. Talk to Chris, he got three out of 109 boxes. And Cleese signed for the Avengers Definitive 2 series too. It's looking like the Cleese, Fearon, Herdman, and Hurt autos are showing up at a rate that hints at about 250 of each signed. My next-scarcest pull was an x/450, so I still feel justified in being slightly disappointed. 0:) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Tea_and_Fruit May 27, 2005, 11:39:42 PM I still wait for my boxes. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ferdinand_the_yak May 31, 2005, 05:10:51 PM Nice to have parents who know their stuff ;)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ArwenEvenstar May 31, 2005, 05:16:33 PM hehe only problem is I dont have any cotton gloves :P I suppose it will be ok if I just touch the edges of the card. i think Im letting myself get too finicky with this stuff huh? ;)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Trey May 31, 2005, 05:18:54 PM haha a bit, but you just have to remember to be careful, dont put a big thumb print right in the middle by shuffling through them, and dont bend any either :o that would not be good. I was parannoid when opening my first box too but then you get used to it after a while! ::)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ArwenEvenstar May 31, 2005, 05:40:24 PM then in that case thanks for putting up with me. ;D Im sure I'll do fine. now for real off to go and open a box. ;)

My hands were shaking and I think I went slightly overboard with the :o smiley and exclamation marks when I posted! : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Tea_and_Fruit May 31, 2005, 09:01:41 PM Got my Case

Let me start by saying that in 4 boxes, I got two full foil card sets :D
Okay, box 1(3762) BT2 Neville's PJ's (plain blue swatch) :D 358/520 Quidditch filmcard (cells are a close up of Hagrids face ;D) 344/397 Box 2 (4291): BT2 Fluffy's fur (again, as this is my second one in just 4 boxes) 422/700 and..... : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz May 31, 2005, 10:21:03 PM Wow that's one of the best cards in this set. John Hurt is a legend
"Curious... very curious" Fantastic! : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : rns91294 May 31, 2005, 10:28:06 PM Thanks to both of you. My husband opened this box, which had the duplicate Fluffy in it, but when he pulled the auto, he played it off like it was nothing big, until I figured it out. And then, I was jumping up and down, and up and down!! I was thrileed. Yes, i would have enjoyed a SS card, or Chocolate frog, as well, as I thought I might have better chances getting one of them over the big autos, especially with just 4 boxes. But here I am. Shocked over the whole thing.
Do we feel that Hurt and Cleese have about the same amount of autos signed? Are they definitely the rarest? I would like Cleese too, but would need to get another box and hope to pull him now as well. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Tower June 01, 2005, 12:52:14 AM Woo hoo rns! ;D A John Hurt auto :D Congratulations! 8) From my 4 cases I didn't even pull one of them. And i? 4 cases, no Hurt, no Cleese. :'( : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : LikORish-Spider June 01, 2005, 01:01:50 AM A Wizard Candy pull
Number 506-538 (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/LikORish-Spider/WizardCandyProp506-538DESwatch.jpg) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : allender June 01, 2005, 03:08:09 AM Do we feel that Hurt and Cleese have about the same amount of autos signed? Are they definitely the rarest? I would like Cleese too, but would need to get another box and hope to pull him now as well. UPDATE POSTED 20 JUNE AND/OR LATER So far I've seen breakdowns for 459 boxes, and the tally has been: 9 - John Hurt 10 - John Cleese, Joshua Herdman 11 - Ray Fearon 13 - Goblin Bank Teller 14 - Geraldine Somerville 15 - Leslie Phillips 16 - Luke Youngblood 17 - Alfred Enoch 19 - Devon Murray, Ian Hart 21 - Matthew Lewis 24 - Adrian Rawlins 30 - Flitwick Of course, things could be concentrated because 90% of the breakdowns have been from here. It's only 228 autos out of maybe 5600. The Cleese and Hurt autos are sure bringing in the biggest bucks in completed auctions. But if the trends hold up, the scarcest ones seem to have from 200 to 300 signed. Onward! : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola June 01, 2005, 03:10:07 AM What about the ones sold on ebay, although we don't know if the same ones get resold as they aren't numbered :-\
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : allender June 01, 2005, 03:40:11 AM What about the ones sold on ebay, although we don't know if the same ones get resold as they aren't numbered :-\ I tried tallying auctions for POA and POAU and found it was okay for the most common but widely off the mark with the scarcest, for numbered costumes and props. The "stats" get dicey when the sellers hold some of the scarcer cards for off-auction sale. And like you said, it gets really tricky when the bargains are put up for sale again. We're up to about 6% of the boxes from breakdown reports, and that's starting to give us some hints. Like, by now we can say that Lily is the tougher pull for people who want both of Harry's parents. ...The Cleese card is interesting to watch, because he also signed for the Avengers 2 set that just came out. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : rns91294 June 01, 2005, 03:48:50 AM wow, only 200-300. Interesting. I think my Hurt auto has become my favorite card.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Luluhime June 01, 2005, 02:04:06 PM Hello everyone! ;D I got my 2 boxes today, and just spent the last 20 minutes or so frantically opening them XD This is what I got:
#7445 Ian Hart auto Dracos scarf (green swatch) 116/485 #5156 Film card of Harry and the troll with the cells showing john hurt Wand box prop (brown swatch) 92/842 I'm pretty pleased about the inserts this time....sooooo much better than the POAU ;D ;D I shouldn't have bought those 2 boxes really...now I want more :ebay: : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz June 01, 2005, 02:07:37 PM Hey Amy, I'm glad they arrived safely, I hope they hadn't been too battered in their box by the postal service folkses, 2 inserts in each box is excellent, especially when they are autos and costumes and props ;)
That case seems to be rich with Wand boxes, I have had a wand box, a restricted section library book and a film card from 2 boxes also out of that case! Three more boxes have been posted out to people so I will wait and see what they got out of them :D : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Luluhime June 01, 2005, 02:11:08 PM hehe, they arrived in perfect condition!!!! ;) Do the wand box swatches come in different colours? I'm still very hazy on this set...I didn't know the prop/costume cards were going to be so thick! lol

Looks like I can FINALLY open my case! :D Right after Ive finished my History assignment of course. ;) By the by, does anyone know if its ok to store cards thicker than 120pt in team bags? : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : grecopa June 20, 2005, 07:31:27 AM I have my Fluffy fur in a team bag. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna June 20, 2005, 10:15:54 PM The 3 boxes I opened this morning were my rewards. I got to open 1 boxes for finally sorting all of my base sets from the 4 cases I opened last month. The other 2 boxes were my reward for re-entering auctions back into the Price Guide. The Wizard Candy card was in the 3rd box, in the next to the last pack I opened. ;D

: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : kbmum June 21, 2005, 12:18:12 AM That card has to be the primo wizard candy/Fizzing Whizzbees card. It's incredible!
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna June 21, 2005, 12:36:25 AM That's my favorite one EVER. Even better than the Fizzing Whizzbee eyeball you have. Way to go! Thanks :D I will be adding the Fizzing Whizzbee eyeball card to my Trade/Sell list in Diagon Alley. If anyone is interested, send me a PM. :) EDIT: It appears that my trade list is missing from Diagon Alley. :-\ It must have gotten deleted when we had the hosting problem. >:( I will create a new list and post it in Diagon Alley later today. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ArwenEvenstar June 21, 2005, 04:07:25 AM Thats a wonderful card Anna! :D
Just a question though...is it usual to find stress marks in a wizard candy swatch? I just pulled a fantastic Fizzing Whizzbees card (the "ZZ" of Fizzing) and I just wanted to make sure it doesnt de-value the card? Anyway Ive opened 8 boxes and here is what I have gotten: Male students Gryffindor jumper Female students skirt Hagrid's shirt Fluffy's Fur Wizard Candy Practice Broom Daily Prophet (nice card with just a floral type pattern on it) Josh Herdman as Gregory Goyle Adrial Rawlins as James Potter Alfred Enoch as Dean Thomas (covered in fingerprints when I got to it - wonder if they were Alfred's? :D) Luke Youngblood as Lee Jordan Harry with wand filmcard (cells are vault 713) Harry being sorted filmcard (cells are vault 713) About a million foil sets, lol. So really nothing out of the ordinary which Im a little disheartened about but Ive still got 2 boxes to go. Just a couple of Q's...when I put my 50pt cards in the screwdowns no matter how hard I try the lid wont sit flat. Is it because the screw isnt straight? Also is it usual to find auto cards with fingerprints on them as I knew they couldnt be mine because I was htumbing through them wearng cotton gloves. ??? : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna June 21, 2005, 04:21:56 AM Thats a wonderful card Anna! :D Just a question though...is it usual to find stress marks in a wizard candy swatch? I just pulled a fantastic Fizzing Whizzbees card (the "ZZ" of Fizzing) and I just wanted to make sure it doesnt de-value the card? Anyway Ive opened 8 boxes and here is what I have gotten: Thanks ;D I have some creases in my Wizard Candy swatches. I don't think it de-values the card since the props were supposed to have been used in the movie, so in reality, the swatches shouldn't be perfect. ??? My cards fit tightly in the 50 pt screw-down cases also. The next larger size screw-down case is a Pro-Mold 80 pt one, Ultra-Pro 100 pt one or a BCW 120 pt one. I only have BCW cases so the 120 case is way too big for my cards, so I put them in the 50 pt ones even though they fit snugly. :-\ Congratulations on your pulls so far. I can't wait to see your Wizard Candy card variant. ;D : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola June 21, 2005, 04:56:38 AM Oh well done Anna that its a beautiful swatch ;D
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ArwenEvenstar June 21, 2005, 06:08:50 AM 9th box:
harry's pyjamas :D Harry with wand filmcard : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola June 21, 2005, 06:13:47 AM Oh Harrys Pjs I am jealous ;)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ArwenEvenstar June 21, 2005, 06:17:53 AM Its definetely my favourite card thus far. Plus it has 2 blue stripes in it. :)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola June 21, 2005, 06:21:28 AM Cool that was one of my faves from the tasters they gave us but I have still to get my hands on one ::)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ArwenEvenstar June 21, 2005, 06:25:18 AM Good luck. I hope you do get one. :) Ive still got one more box to open so I might just go do that. Be back later.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ArwenEvenstar June 21, 2005, 06:58:17 AM 10th box:
Cake box seamus Finnigan auto So overall got 17 inserts. Not too bad. :) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola July 02, 2005, 05:24:49 AM Has anyone noticed the base card with Harry and his mum on it (I think its called a Mothers love) the mobile behind them has got owls on, bless ;D. It makes you realise how much is put in to films for seconds that you don't even notice. I sometimes feel bad for the props guys :-\
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : kbmum July 04, 2005, 06:51:54 PM The mobile would have made a great prop card! I'm still ticked off that Artbox didn't make a Harry baby blanket card...and a Quirrell turban...and a Sirius prison costume (for POA). So many missed opportunities. ::)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola July 05, 2005, 02:29:20 AM I mean how much work would have gone into the mobile for a few seconds? Harry's blanket would have been great (I get a little teary when I see the picture of Dumbley leaving Harry and privet drive). I think the trouble with the SS stuff is the time in between things could have been sold, lost, taken or thrown away. Sirius stuff would have been good.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola July 06, 2005, 06:44:19 PM Right latest box came today, hopefully the last, I am hdeading towards a case ::) not sure what happened to the 'just one box'.
Anyway it as good two cards I haven't already got. Box No. 2595 Chase cards R1, R3, R5, R6, R9 Auto Dean Thomas Prop Practice broom I wasn't after this auto, but it is a nice one and my one looks a bit nicer than the one on the price guide must be from the start of his signing run ;) (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/MorningAngel-Iola/DeanThomasauto.jpg) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ferdinand_the_yak July 06, 2005, 06:51:14 PM Nice one Dawn! :D
Can you hear that little voice saying: 'Just one more?' ;) It's always in my head :P : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola July 06, 2005, 06:52:32 PM Oh yes that little voice is very insistant ;)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ArwenEvenstar July 06, 2005, 07:13:40 PM In the next couple of weeks my parents are going away to Queensland and seeings as I have to stay behind due to academical studies they are allowing me to buy another case and wil purchase 2 more boxes for me, just to keep me occupied. ;)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz July 06, 2005, 07:17:03 PM Wonderful - don't forget to tell us how you do :D
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ArwenEvenstar July 06, 2005, 08:03:22 PM Will do. Just have to wait for Tom to get back from holidays which I think is the 11th. I want my boxes! :P
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola July 07, 2005, 04:31:21 AM My last box brought it up to seven only three away from a case worth and I still haven't seen a film card :-\
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : DewDude July 11, 2005, 10:07:08 AM I have been feeling left out lately as I haven't had the funds to buy any cards but I was finally able to buy one box each of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Here's my breakdown for SS:
Box 6571/8000 1 Base Set, 5 cards short of a 2nd set + 4 extra cards Box Topper BT3 Foils R2, R4, R5, R7, R8 Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom Autograph Wand Box Prop w/ Redish Snakeskin Swatch 121/842 I didn't get anything spectacular, but it was fun to open up some new product! Can anyone out there help me finish my 2nd base set and my foil set? Mark : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : grecopa July 11, 2005, 10:26:51 AM IM sent for the spare base cards.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna July 11, 2005, 11:28:48 PM I can send you the missing foils you need Mark, just send me a PM with your address.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola July 13, 2005, 03:44:13 AM Just having a count up and I have noticed that there are 11 props that I have no chance on earth of owning. Thats an awful lot. No prop mini master for me :'(
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : jfer21 July 24, 2005, 11:58:32 PM Just thought I'd add my two boxes (from two different places) in.

Box # 7160/8000 Harry's Quidditch Robe #311/410 Harry & Ron fighting the troll film cell card #96/397 (with a nice cell of Hagrid in Gringott's Underground vaults). : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ferdinand_the_yak July 26, 2005, 07:42:11 AM 2 insert box! Cool :)
Did you get a red or yellow robe? : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : darthmactor July 26, 2005, 07:59:58 AM Sorry, forgot the swatch color, didn't I? It's purple! Heh, no, I mean red. It was one of the two or three card I was hoping to get from this box, so I am surprised I actually got it.

I have seen less red ones about than yellow, not that that really makes sense ::)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : DogStarBlack August 05, 2005, 09:52:37 PM Don't know where to put this question, but does anyone know if there are both retail and hobby editions of the 9 chase cards for SS? I know they have both Hobby and Retail for PoA and PoAU, but I've never seen the retail ones for SS.
~DogStarBlack :) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : EmmasOneandOnly August 05, 2005, 09:53:19 PM Tom said there was no retail for SS
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : DogStarBlack August 05, 2005, 11:22:07 PM Thanks, didn't think so, but just wanted to make sure.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : darthmactor August 07, 2005, 03:10:45 AM New box to add:
Box #6089/8000 Luke Youngblood as Lee Jordan auto Cake Box #228/490 : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : darthmactor August 11, 2005, 02:39:31 AM Another new box to add:
Box #6835/8000 Adrian Rawlins as James Potter auto Harry's Quidditch Jumper (Red Swatch) #124/335 Anyone need a Rawlins auto card? Second one I've box pulled. :P : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : darthmactor August 21, 2005, 12:30:15 AM And, again, yet another box to add.
Box # 0438/8000 Warwick Davis as Professor Flitwick auto :P Cake Box Prop Card # 367/490 :P :P :P :P : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna August 21, 2005, 05:26:46 AM Boy Darthmactor, you really had some bad luck with those boxes (too may duplicates). :( Did you get all of the boxes from the same seller at the same time?
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : darthmactor August 22, 2005, 12:22:24 AM Actually, surprisingly, no, each was bought from a different seller over a period of a couple of weeks. I guess my luck is just really starting to go sour. :'(
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna August 22, 2005, 11:13:57 AM You'd actually have a better chance of getting different cards if you would have gotten the boxes from the same seller at the same time. Then the boxes most likely would have been pulled from the same case and the cases are pretty good about having a variety of cards.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : darthmactor August 22, 2005, 12:00:18 PM Yeah, I know, but being a recent ex-u.s. Marine and working at a video store until I go back to college, I can only afford x-amount at any one time, so it usually is a box every couple of weeks I may be able to treat myself with. Oh well, 'tis life. :P
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz August 22, 2005, 02:25:51 PM At least you are doing well in that most of your boxes have had 2 exciting items in :)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : darthmactor August 23, 2005, 03:35:24 AM Yes, true, can't fault that. Two repeat items are better then one. 0:)

Two repeat items are better then one. 0:) I bought 7 boxes, and got two dups as well. Harry's PJ's and Fluffy's fur. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : darthmactor September 11, 2005, 12:10:07 AM Argh, I hated that while in, and I hate it now while out, if only because no matter what you say (ex-Marine, former Marine, once a Marine) they always come back with, "There is no such thing as a...". Well, more disliked then hate, I guess I should say, as while the notion is a true one, it just makes it difficult to find the right term (though, I suppose, since I'm still in the I.R.R. for another two years, I'm still a Marine by any definition, just not active duty anymore :P).
Casey P.S. ~ Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my service and all that goes with it, I am just sick of a few choice phrases, that being among them. :) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : grecopa September 11, 2005, 03:13:34 AM P.S. ~ Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my service and all that goes with it, I am just sick of a few choice phrases, that being among them. :) How about "If I told you, then I would have to kill you." Never could stand that one. :P: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : darthmactor September 11, 2005, 03:59:47 AM Yeah, that one got kind of old ('specially since I worked in a MOS feild in which people could use that alot; plus, the closest to that the truth comes is, "If I told you, we'd both be spending at least the next 20 years in a federal prison." >:D
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Nienna September 11, 2005, 05:03:18 AM I'm sure people didn't mean to be unkind Casey and you've every right to be proud of being a Marine - that's what you'll always be whether you're on active duty or not and is definitely nothing to be ashamed of! ;D
Hollywood has a LOT to answer for by pinching these phrases and using them in their films don't they!? ::) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna October 05, 2005, 12:00:56 PM Well, I broke down and opened up another case. ::) Here are my breakdowns:

: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola November 07, 2005, 04:34:50 AM But there are always side effects with every 'drug' ;) I think Boots might run out pretty soon though. Although image who much convincing your doctor would take :o
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Bryanjs14 November 07, 2005, 04:48:07 AM of course the medication does not ALWAYS work. her perscribed box could end up being a dud box....or ALMOST as bad, a box with a Warwick Davis autograph and nothing else.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Morningangel-Iola November 07, 2005, 04:52:25 AM Very true :-\

: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : jfer21 November 22, 2005, 01:25:08 PM lucky lucky you! the harry PJ's is the only card I still need from the set...and if I could have one autograph from the set it would be the John Hurt autograph....so in my opinion, the best box you could get! Yeah, I was pretty happy. The only thing I wanted more was Harry's Hogwart's letter/shopping list of my wants list. I would have been over the moon if that had happened. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna November 22, 2005, 09:07:28 PM Great pulls jfer21! 8) Congratulations! ;D I opened 63 boxes of SS and didn't pull one John Hurt. :(

Great boxes Tasha! ;D Four prop cards in four boxes and one of them a Devil's Snare. :o Props are my favorite cards so I would have loved to have opened those boxes. ;) Congratulations! ;D BTW - What does the Wizard Candy swatch look like? The Wizard Candy cards were my favorite cards in the SS set.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ECL July 06, 2006, 12:17:16 AM me too i love the candy cards!!! ;D
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : tasha092 July 06, 2006, 01:04:17 PM yeh I thought I'd done pretty well too ;D ;D. The wizard candy by far is my favourite, it's one of the ones with Lik O'Rish spiders on it.
Heres a pic (http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/tasha092/harrypottertradingcards/wizardcandy.jpg) Im in two minds about selling the devils snare. Im not too fussed on the card, but its my first good, rare card. But the proceeds of the sale could buy more boxes ;) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : EmmasOneandOnly July 06, 2006, 01:13:02 PM Congrats on your pulls :D
What does your Snare look like? : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : ECL July 06, 2006, 01:29:41 PM lovely spiders!! although real spiders freak me out
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : tasha092 July 06, 2006, 06:06:19 PM What does your Snare look like? (http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/tasha092/harrypottertradingcards/devilssnare.jpg) The scan doesn't really do it justice, the card being so thick my scanner did a hissy fit, but the actual sample sits quite raised above the card. lovely spiders!! although real spiders freak me out Aahh Ron the Second hey ECL? : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Roz July 06, 2006, 06:10:24 PM lovely spiders!! although real spiders freak me out Move to the Antarctic - it's the only continent in the world without em ;) As a general rule, the warmer the climate the bigger the spiders *gross* : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Anna July 06, 2006, 07:40:06 PM Oooh, I love your Lik O'Rish Spiders swatch Tasha. 8) Your Devil's Snare looks great too. ;D

: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : akimira March 26, 2007, 06:28:15 PM Hallo.
I opened one of my Sorcerer's Stone boxes last weekend and was happy to find 25 packs in it. But after I pulled out all the card I was really frustrated - there werde only 5 Chase Cards and the Box Topper >:() Did this happened to anyone else, too? Today I will start all new with another box - hopefully I'll be more lucky this time... : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : Bryanjs14 March 27, 2007, 01:55:49 AM it sounds like that box was searched....was it sealed?
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : akimira March 27, 2007, 02:57:35 PM Yes, I always buy sealed boxes. That's why I was expecting at least one special card...
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : allender March 27, 2007, 05:09:15 PM I opened one of my Sorcerer's Stone boxes last weekend and was happy to find 25 packs in it. But after I pulled out all the card I was really frustrated - there werde only 5 Chase Cards and the Box Topper >:() It seems like we hear about maybe two or three "dud" boxes for every release. I haven't had one, but somebody else might have some experience on whether Artbox will do something for you. ... Did this happened to anyone else, too? : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : kbmum March 27, 2007, 06:03:36 PM It can't hurt to send a nicely-worded email to Artbox customer service and see if they'll help you. :) There were a great many dud boxes for POAU and so many people complained that Artbox worked to rectify the problem. It's one area that the company greatly improved, since reports of dud boxes for all of the subsequent sets have been fairly rare.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : portlaw November 29, 2010, 08:16:10 PM Ok i would like to thank Jonh for sending me a box of these :D
so the box arrived today and i kept saying to myself they are for xmas but i said id open one pack, and it wasn't to hard to figure out which pack to open cause it was so chunky, i opened it and got the wand box prop :) but anyways i was hoping if somebody could help me with letting me know if its a variant or not? on the right side it has a very pale purple kind of colour with a black design on it and on the left side it has a kind of burgundy? any help is appreciated :D : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : rns91294 November 29, 2010, 10:37:17 PM I would definitely say it is a variant :D I believe any with designs or multiple colors were variants. Mine is just solid green with a crease going through it. AND, I would venture to tell you that there is probably a costume in that box too ;)
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : portlaw November 29, 2010, 10:45:35 PM Im afraid not :(
my self control for these amazing cards is very bad so i just opened them up but no other insert card :( but props are my favourite to collect and if i was told to pick a box with a costume and auto or a box with just a prop i would pick the prop so im still very happy :D : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : rns91294 November 29, 2010, 11:04:48 PM Sorry to hear there was not another insert. It seems that there were 2 boxes in each case with just one insert in this set (if compiled properly....I believe). With that said, your one insert was a VERY good one. You got a variant!!!!! :D I agree, the props are my favorites as well, but I have also started to get in to the autos now too.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : portlaw November 30, 2010, 02:13:53 AM Yea i do like the autos aswel.
The one reason why costumes are not my favourites is that its the same characters over again but with the props they change every film. To me the sorcerers stone had one of the best prop ranges along with the chamber of secrets. Unfortunatly i have not got a box of the chamber of secrets yet but hopefully soon :) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : portlaw November 30, 2010, 02:47:12 AM Ok being the big nerd that i am ive decided to do my homework on this wand prop card :)

I'd suggest going back through all of your base cards, looking at the fronts and backs. Sometimes, two cards will stick together. More than one person on this forum thought he or she had a one-insert box, but later discovered that the front of an auto was stuck to the back of a base card.
: Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : portlaw November 30, 2010, 03:02:10 AM ok il get going on that now kbmum :)
il let you no my results thanks :) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : portlaw November 30, 2010, 03:12:12 AM Nope unfortunatly not :(
Looks like i got one of the 2 boxes from each case like rns91294 said. : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : portlaw December 13, 2010, 01:20:30 AM Ok after my first box of these i got hooked to this set and im getting another 2 boxes thanks to John again and well its obvious which ones im looking for SORCERERS STONE PROP or CHOCOLATE FROG PROP but i highly doubt ot il get any og them but who knows :)
Hopefully they'l arrive just before xmas so cant wait :) : Re: Sorcerer's Stone set; odds, pictures and box/case breakdowns : portlaw December 19, 2010, 08:44:34 AM Ok my two boxes have arrived and i have opened them :)
Unfortunatly no prop card so no rare prop obviously :( but here are my pulls: Box 3241: Lily Potter Auto Harry Potter Pjs ( 6 stripes, 3 white and 3 blue and has a bit of loose seam from the side of circle patch ) :) Box 1387: Neville Longbottom Auto Filch Costume Overall not the worst boxes ever but i really would have liked to have got some sort of prop out of it but i cant complain :) |
