Cards Inc - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Sti-Cards (info brought to us by CI themselves)

Charlie Bucket comes from a poor family, and spends most of his time dreaming
about the chocolate that he loves but usually can't afford. Things change when
Willy Wonka, head of the very popular Wonka Chocolate empire, announces a
contest in which five gold tickets have been hidden in chocolate bars and sent
throughout the country. The kids who find the tickets will be taken on a tour
of Wonka's chocolate factory and get a special glimpse of the wonders within.
Charlie miraculously finds a ticket, along with four other children much
naughtier than him. The tour of the factory will hold more than a few surprises

Cards Inc presents a new way to collect both trading cards and stickers -
Sticards.

Sticards are both cards and sticker on one item, Peel the sticker off to put on
the sticker page and then put the card into the binder part of the album, 2
pictures for on one card !

Sounds interesting this sticards thingy. But I never really understood why they had to remake Charlie and The chocolate factory. But then Johnnys in it so I bet it will be good.

Artbox better make this a quality set then.....If there is a Johnny Depp auto then I can guarantee that I will buy at least a couple of boxes!!! I want to see some great costume cards too, I think they can be really good...there is definately serious potential with this set!

Well I don't know that Artbox have all the cards in hand signed... we shall have to see - apparently he promised Inkworks a long time ago he would sign for them and they got as far as putting redemption cards in a set I believe... but we shall have to hold our breath - let's ask Mike if they have them all in hand, it can do no harm

And only 10 years ago, I was happy with just the book!

Ah, the long hours spent dreaming of what Wonka goodies I would buy if they really existed... yuuuuuuuuuuum! What wouldn't I give to have a lifetime's supply of Wonka lollies... :D

Well I must say i am quite happy *joins FTY in squealing like a kid* that there will be a Johnny Depp auto. Depp and Tim Burton agreed to sign for Sleepy Hollow, and redemption cards were included with that set but in the end they did not sign so the redemption cards were void. Sooo hopefully there are no redemptions but the actual autos this time!! But, checking out the photo, it looks like they will be included in the packs if he has already signed at least one(for the photo)

Well I am hoping that they will release a set similar to POA, I dont know if they would produce a large number, I suppose it might go on pre-orders though.

I am praying that there arent a large number of prop and costume cards though like the POA update, but if they make the ratios similar to the original POA set then it could be good.

Edit: email this guy (trianglecards@earthlink.net), his shipping costs are really good ($20 for two boxes, $25 for three, $60 for a case).  He might have them for preorder.

FTY, how much do you normally pay for a hobby box including shipping from the US (in AUS$)? (if you don't mind me asking)

Well, I pre-ordered from Potomac for PoA update ($57). Their minimum shipment is $125, so I bought 3 boxes and shipping altogether (via UPS) was about 50. So on average, about $75.

Ooops - sorry, that is all in US dollars - so I paid about $100 AUD per box

ok, I just wondered. The thing is, I could preorder a SS hobby box from uktradingcards.com (and a CatCF if they end up making it available) and get it shipped to me for free. I thought maybe I could order some, and then send them over there, but after looking at shipping costs to Oz, it would cost about £19. Plus that to the £49.90 price for the box, and you're already looking a $169 AUD for a box.

Not to worry, I thought for a moment that I might have been able to get them to you for cheaper, but looks like that's impossible  ::) :(

Well, I am going to be doing field trips up to NSW sometime soon...

It is possible that Kate and I could meet up, I work in the city, or we can meet somewhere in the middle of where we live....it just depends on if Kate can, and how far away we are from eachother.

Im not doing any type of trip to Sydney in the future unfortunately unless I decide to drive up for Supanova.....

The idea could work if Kate and I can meet....pm me if you want to kate and let me know which suburb you are in so we can see if it is possible.

Or even if just you and Kate met up - that would save some money for sure.

I probably the only one that lives in florida, under eighteen, and cant meet anybody because nothing ever comes here and if it does then its in Orlando, a two and a half hour drive away

Maybe if all 3 of us were buying boxes, we could get them sent to Melb, then Kate and I could meet up, and ship the other boxes up to you. That would save money for all 3 of us. Some time ago, I had the funniest vision of all the dealers opening their purchased cases just like Veruca Salt with her dad. Well, I imagined them searching for the props/costumes and autos like the 1971 version where they were waiting for the Golden Ticket to show up  ;D

Anyways, I've been searching and searching and I can't find any new info for this set. Yeah, it's two months away, but I can't wait  :) For instance, we knew how to find all four promos for the Sorcerer's Stone set some time ago. Right now, we only have info for the first two promos of this set ...  ???

I really hope that one of the costume cards will be willy wonkas red velvet jacket!! It's soooooo nice!!! ;D ;D

When do you think they will release pictures of all the cards?

Well since this is another Artbox product, the earliest you'll probably see pictures of the cards is when they're released! ::)

I recently got my promos and sell sheets for both this set and SS. While looking at them, I noticed a key difference. SS did not mention anything about releasing info in the future, but they promos and sell sheets for Charlie say that info shall be released in the future.

We'll see if they stick to this  :P

The key words "in the future" can mean anytime.  They didn't say "in the near future", so we'll see what happens. ::)

Right I have my P1 and P2 promos so do I now buy this set I love the original film and I am a big fan of Depp and Tim Burton. I am a little afraid that the Depp auto will be so rare that I won't stand a chance of getting it

I emailed the seller about the picture. The reply I got was that she didn't know anything about it except it was a picture being released for retail distributors to promote their product.

The good ish news is that Artbox are very unwilling to release info until it is confirmed with them (and who can blame them) - as with SS they are scared to let info get out until they have the autos back in hand.

So I think from that we can assume they have Depp in hand (unlike back when he said he'd sign for Inkworks), and to add to that Darren (Cards Inc) told me he'd seen the Depp autos ;)

That's for a more "official" confirmation that they have the Depp Auto on hand! I was happy when they emailed me, but I was still skeptical.

Artbox may be very cautious about their auto being on hand and what not ... but what about the costumes and props. Surely, they know more than what they are willing to devulge in that area. They should have those on hand by now ???

Thats ok, happy to share of course  ;) although someone would have discovered it sometime anyway. I loved the 'employee of the month' haha and I got one of the wallpapers to put on my desktop.

Oh yes, I sent them two emails regarding this set. The first was rather lengthy, and I explained things like we know more about the HP:SS Set than we do CCF and what not.

Yea exactly, as if they wouldnt know what costumes and props they would be using! I am getting a bit sick of artbox really, not giving out information. I mean, we havent even got confirmation on much of HP. We know a few things but nothing really in concrete. Look at Topps and Inkworks for example, they have heaps of info on upcoming sets. Even if not pictures, they still let people know who is signing, props etc.

I would agree, but the release date for both HP:SS and CCF are approaching quickly. Right now, we know much more about the SS set (even though it isn't much). For example, I have two CCF promos, but I don't know where to get the other ones. With SS, I have all the promos except the binder exclusive. GAH! As for the inserts, we know a couple from the SS and have seen pictures. For CCF, we only know of the Depp auto. DOUBLE GAH!

I belive the CatCF binder comes with one of the promos.  The other may come from an upcoming show/convention or possibly NSU like the SS promo.  Only Artbox knows for sure. ::)

Its ridiculous - several months on from PoA update, they still have not updated their site to include information about that set. Why bother with a website and paying a fortune for bandwidth etc if you are not even going to use it? ::)

OOH -OOH - I read something about this - let me see if I can find it.

"Artbox's set, releasing in late May, will feature 90 base cards, as well as nine foil insert cards. Eight card packs will have an SRP of $1.99. Among the many highlights of this set will be autographed cards from the three main stars of the film : Johnny Depp, Christopher Lee, and Freddie Highmore. ... The product will also include costume cards, although the exact number has yet to be announced. There will also be prop cards, with different versions for retail and hobby packaging.

WOW! All this info is rather inundating!!! Thanks Joanna and Martyn. Now, I might have to get a hobby and retail box or just a retail box. I like the idea of getting a candy wrapper! Though, I think it kinda weird to spread their product that way, but Artbox can probably make more sales that way.

When talking about the next NSU issue, does that mean the Sopranos one. I looked on the website, and they didn't mention having the CFF promo with the issue ... could it be one of the surprises ??? If this is the issue, I'll have to put a preorder in with my local comic book store ;)

Oh don't get me wrong, I love the FOTR autos and they are mainly what I collect if possible. Its the horrible odds that I don't like. 1 auto in three boxes. And when you consider that boxes nowadays (if they turn up at all sell for $250-300 and you are not even guaranteed of an autograph. The FOTR retail boxes had the Legolas, Saruman, Elrond and Merry autos which fetch the highest prices. I was lucky to get a Legolas but I doubt I will ever get any of the others :P

So that was why I hope the odds for the CatCF retail cards are not the same!

I got an e-mail back from Tomunique.  He will have CatCF retail boxes and cases if anyone is interested in getting any.  Just send him an e-mail for prices.

A dealer in the USA who sells Artboxs Produce e-mailed me and said the release date has changed for this set to June 17 but when I e-mailed Artbox they said the May 30th release date has not changed.

Any word on this yet.  I am getting a little annoyed that we are a little over 2 weeks from release and we know nothing (other than depp auto).  Of course I don't expect to have any info from Artbox, but usually we have some underground word.  Tap those resources I know some of you have great ones. 

By the way, does anyone else who has seen a pic of the depp auto think that is the worst signature ever.  I can't even make any sense of it, can anyone else?  (although I really still do want one.)

When I e-mail Artbox they says "Ask closer to the release date"

But they did say, that Promo #1 and #2 are normal Promo's and Promo #3 and #4 are Incentive Promo's. But didn't say in what way. I think they ment with the binder!

Well this is the 25 case incentive short grass prop and because of it's size it will come in a 150 count box.

For those of you who just got a pain in your wallet the New York incentive will be limited to 95 cards (so hopefully a little more achievable) and will have LONGER grass - and will come in a 250 count box for protection!

These are mad but exciting times people!

hey guys can u explain this "new york" exclusive card? how does it work? what makes it a "new york" exclsuive, and what do "new york" refer to?

I don't know whether you know but there's an event in New York called the New York toy fair.

This was back in February and LOTR fans went wild as there were tonnes of exciting Sideshow statues revealed there.

Anyway - Artbox had a presence at this event and dealers and distributors who put their name down for their cases at this event will receive a few of these "New York" incentive cards.

As far as I have heard only 2 or 3 dealers are having them.

Oooooo...those 4 chocolate wrapper cards are MINE, MINE, MINE!  And from previous posts it looks like they will be in hobby and retail, and in high numbers, so not too hard to get. ;D

Hey, Rich.  What is the Chocolate piece card like?  Is it hard plastic or more of a rubber?  How thick?

I'm curious also (since I haven't received my cases yet >:( ).  Are a lot of the cards thick like the SS set?

Tom's auctions say that there's only a little over 100 of the Depp, Highmore and Lee autos..

It's amazing the stuff Artbox can get away with - in our Enterprise set we had 3 autos that were between 200 and 300 and collectors get pissy if one of those three isn't in *their* box, but Artbox has 3 autos that are just over 100 and it's exciting and cool.

I have just checked  :ebay: and here, for the pictures of the grass prop. It says that there are 2 styles of grass.

• The 25 case one, where the grass is taller and wavey
• The New York exclusive, where the grass is short and straight.

Any light shed would be good.

Check the price guide under CATCF set, it has pictures of both, and actually I think it is the other way around:

The 25 case incentive card is shorter and more limited

the NY exclusive is taller and wavier and there are about 3x as many, however there are still under 100 of this one too.

Well unless my cards are coming from Fed Ex they probably won't be here today.  UPS already came to work and they didn't have my CATCF :'( >:()  I am a little disappointed and a little PO'd.  If Artbox had sent them by Wed they should have got here.  Well I hope you have better luck anna.

FedEx just delivered 1 case to me. ;D  I'm hoping UPS will bring me my other 2 cases (I ordered from 2 different dealers).  I'll post any variants that I pull.  I won't bother with the normal cards since everyone's already seen them on ebay.

The Birthday wrapper is GORGEOUS!!!!! Congrats on the great pull.  My local shop had the boxes today. We bought two packs and pulled a Mr. Salt's Tie costume card with a blue stripe right down the center.  Very exciting! ;D

Thank you Thomas, I didn't think of that, luck certainly is part of collecting I had some bad luck and good luck.  So I guess that helps me feel better about missing out on the letter props in SS.  Although I don't know what I will do with the auto, I like Depp, but am not a huge fan by any means, I would rather have lotr auto's.  It will be hard to keep a card worth that much without an emotional attachment.

You could sell it and use the money for the LOTR autos you want!!!  Or trade with someone who would want Depp.  Loads of Johnny fans out there!!!

Oh yes, i can understand that very well. But you really should decide very fast. I guess the price will fall below $600 very soon (but of course i can be wrong). I would sell fast or keep "forever".  8)

It's a kind of "Well, no Triple Auto, but a nice card though, a Daniel Radcliffe Auto".  ;D

The card could very well go up too, think of Daredevil Affleck auto or Garner Daredevil all in collections so if you can find one it will sell for more than the last one.

Even LOTR, I don't know what a Merry auto of FOTR went for at first but (I am sure someone here knows).....and we know there is only around 100 of the JD auto's.

There are around 500 Merry's and in the early days it went for £300, then up and up to finally £1200 before currently settling around £800.

I think I'll stay with my luck with a box or two with new sets because my luck's been a lot better than my cases. Right now, this looks like my personal record. Not quite like the story of somebody pulling a James Earl Jones SW autograph from a random pack, but I'll settle for a Johnny Depp from two boxes.  ;D ;D

Here's the scan of my three high chase. The chocolate bar is 3 mm thick, and will still slide into a 9-pocket page. I'm glad it was confirmed as "plastic" because I was going to lick a corner to find out. OK as much as I do like these cards I do have to make this observation....they didn't do a good job of mixing up the collation.  I will post my case breakdowns so you can see what I mean better Tues (as I must go to bed soon), but I had many duplicates from case to case.  I actually got the same 5 autos in consecutive cases and 3 certain autos were in each of the 4 cases I opened >:()

Well just my take, but it's hard to complain when you get a depp auto :-\, but my guess regarding #'ing the boxes is they just number them on the assembly line with random variable numbers and then shrink wrap and put them in the cases.  So you probably get 10 consecutive boxes off the assembly line.  Well I will post my breakdowns Tues and it will make more sense, but again I do like the cards I just have a lot of duplicates and not a lot of variety.

There is only 18....well...how many boxes are left to open?  I only plan to get one box....but I would be thrilled to get one.  I know, wishful thinking, huh ???

When i'm calculating this, i'm thinking that there are not more than 12 tickets in packs. I'm sure Artbox hold back some of them. So it's like a 50 case incentive card, you have to buy 50 cases / 500 boxes to find one (if they really exist). But it's strange that no ticket appeared yet. Are they really existing? Any big dealer must have found one, or not? Well, i will get one box and i hope it's number 500.  ;D

It surprises me that Tom hasn't had one yet as he's taken quite a lot of this product maybe he hasn't opened that many cases... we shall have to encourage him to keep opening ;)

It seems that Tom also didn't find a Wrapping Paper from the Birthday Present (lim. to 72) yet and others did. So he can't have opened much boxes (or he had really bad luck).

This might have already been covered, so sorry if I am bringing it up again.  I notice Mr Salt's outfit is limites to 265 in the priceguide.  Yet, on  :ebay: I see there are some to 265 and some to 165.  Any ideas?

The 165 is of his tie, and the 265 is of his suit!

Well that explains why some are going for more than the others!!!  I noticed the one was brown with the stripes and the other was not brown, but a greyish black color.  Thanks!  They should both be in the priceguide though, right :-\

The Mr Salt costume comes in a variant numbered to 165 of his tie. the 265 is of his coat jacket I believe. But the picture on the card is exactly the same.

The scans probably don't catch the color too well. The suit is actually a dark green. (At least on the Swatch I have.)

That's strange, my suit swatch looks dark grayish black and the fabric is like a light wool-blend. :-\

Your right Anna, I was looking at mine last night in a room with soft yellow lights and it caused the swatch to take on a greenish cast. It was 2:00AM ,too.   ::) So I may have been hallucinating after finding 3 Depp autos in two cases in a row.

Mr. Salts Suit and Mr. Salt's tie are definitely two different Costumes. They do have the same picture just like Honeydikes Candy and Black Pepper Imps, they have different numbers issued. Suit is 265 and Tie is 165.

I'm not much of a complainer, I hope, but if the adverts say 18 Golden Tickets, doesn't one feel justified in inferring that all 18 will be available for the collectors/buyers to find? If they give away 6 or 7 and keep 1 or 2 as backup cards then I'd like to submit that the advertising is false and misleading.  >:()

Well, they do only say limited to 18.  However, thtat is because that is the number they are limited too.  They never do actually tell you how many are inserts......

Maybe they thought "Hey, we should do what's said in the book and make it authentic. Let's put only 5 tickets in packs".  ;D

If i imagine, there are 10 of 18 tickets in packs, we have 1 in every 600 boxes (every 60 cases). Well, i still hope, anybode else has the other 599 boxes and i have number 600.  ;D  It's nice to have this little chance with the single box i ordered. But of course i know, i won't pull a golden ticket. But i still hope for 2 inserts. :)

Yeah, I was wondering about the Comic Con costume card also....I am going to be there and I really wanted to try and get my hands on one. Any information would be MORE than helpful.

It's all rather confused at the moment, but there are supposed to be tins with the costume in.

There's also supposed to be hobby versions of the retail "golden ticket" cards at the Comic Con limited to 70 (of each) - but I don't know how they will be distributed, I heard it was in tins but whether that's the same as the above costume tin or a different set remains unknown

Yeah - for some reason they count the retail cards as "golden tickets" despite not containing bits of the ticket - have a look at a retail card and you will see emblazoned across it "GOLDEN TICKET".

Well that makes my decision a little more tough. There are two Exclusives that I really want and I'm sure they will both go REALLY quickly. The other is the Master Replicas .45 scale Yoda lightsaber. So I guess at 10AM on Thursday I will have to make my decision which booth the head to first.

I would head to the lightsaber place first I think there should be plenty of Charlie supplies and it's not been well publicised either - Star Wars fans are very enthusiastic so head there asap

I finally found 2 Charlie tins at Target today and since each was different I got them both.  And out of the second tin*****a Whipple Scrumptious card!!  It's a plain brown swatch, but WOO-HOO anyway! ;D  Since they come 4 packs to a tin, I guess the odds are 1:6 tins?

Jeez!!! Somebody please explain to me the whole "ORANGE" foil thing. From what I understand the tins sold at SDCC contained sets that were "orange" stamped rather than regular purple foil. When i got my tin either i didnt notice a difference, or mine werent orange and i just tossed them seeing to how i already have about 30 sets. Also i see Tom has orange foil stamped promos which i didnt get with my tin?? Someone please break this down, im really confused. ??? ???

Since I didn't buy the San Diego Comic Con Tin, I can't speak from experience, but in one of Tom's auction for one, the tin is supposed to contain the following:

CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY SAN DIEGO TIN SET. YOU GET:

- THE CARD SET DONE WITH ORANGE FOIL.
- 9 CARD FOIL CHASE SET R1 THRU R9
- MISSI PYLE AS MRS. BEAUREGARDE COSTUME CARD NUMBERED TO 720
- T1 CARD MADE JUST FOR THIS TIN

So it sounds like the orange promos are not included with the tin set. :-\

I would double check the base cards - they should have been shrink-wrapped as a complete set of orange foil cards (the orange and purple foil look very similar).  Also you might want to e-mail Tom for clarification on what you should have got in the tin.

I purchased a Tin at comic-con and the previous reply is correct. It is essentially the EXACT same thing as a basic 90 card set and foil set except the Charlie logo is in Orange and not Purple. Also comes with the T1 promo and the costume card. Comes in a tin with a close up of Johnny Depp on it.

With my Comic-Con 'exclusive set' I got the Purple Foil promo set, along with the tin and binder. I needed a base set and binder, so I was okay with it, though I was a little disappointed at the sale of "$50 Mystery bags". While  I got really cool prop card in mine, the binder was for Sorceror's Stone and the box was POTA Update Retail - so it didn't make any sense. Now I have a binder with no set, and a box with no binder.

Thanks Kelly!!  I searched and searched and could not find anything!!!  Has anyone seen a swatch with part of the incrediants or barcode?  All I seem to see is parts of the front of the wrapper with the letters, and plain swatches. 

I do like the cards though.

That's a very nice card. 8)  I've collected the 4 retail and 4 hobby wrapper props and none of the ones I have has a large letter like yours.  Hmmmm...  Maybe I need to replace one of my cards with one like yours. ;)

Has anyone seen any more CATCF GOLDEN TICKET 18 cards? It seems that only three are accounted for. Anna got one from Tom, I think it's the same one he had. There was one from Australia that was offered twice and withdrawn. Tom has another one in a master set. That leaves 15 unaccounted for. I wonder where they are? Any Yakkers secretly gloating at their great luck?

I think that's where the stripes came from. :-\   I won this card from Tom and he told me that it was the only variant one he had seen. 8)

I know the fun of collecting cards is pulling something like an Auto Depp out of a hobby pack etc, but if you are going for say the full set of C&TCF, wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a full set (unless ofc you get ultra luck on cases and boxes) ?

It would be cheaper to buy a complete set.  This is also true because some cards aren't even in the boxes. But then, some people are lucky with their pulls, I suppose.

Yes Rosco, I think you are right,  I think it probably would be quite a bit cheaper, unless you are very lucky! For instance you can buy 5 cases of Charlie and in all likelyhood you wouldn't get a golden ticket card - which on ebay costs a good deal less than the price of 5 cases! However you would have a good pile of other cards for the rest of the set.... there's just a lot of fun to be had opening packs ;)

Then there is always the wise-guy who opens six cases and gets 5 Depp autos, two in one case.  ::)

No, I havn't, I have nearly all of the Artbox Cards, minus Wrapping Paper and Golden Ticket so I don't know why I havnt gotten them!

I didn't buy any C&CF, but I did get the base set and a few inserts and an auto that I really wanted.  Same with Disney Treasures, although I have bought packs on sale at retail stores.  So my opinion is- Yes, it's cheaper for me to buy base sets of what I want and save my money to buy special inserts that I probably wouldn't pull otherwise.  *This logic does not apply to the Harry Potter cards because I always seem to want EVERYTHING, so I'm never dissapointed!*  Those are just my absolute favorites and I'll probably get at least a case.   And it's such a rush to pull a really great varient or rare card.  Harry Potter trading cards-My drug of choice.  ;)  Yeeee Haaaaa!!!!

I realise no one can tell what the future market holds, but will a auto be worth the same, more or less in the future in your eyes ?

The short-printed autos will always bring a good price, especially if Johnny Depp continues his luck with landing film roles.

Most of the rest will settle down a little bit lower than what you are probably seeing now.  If one of the signers lands a big role in something though, all bets are off.

Traditionally, non-sport autograph cards are a poor investment.  Even the early Lord of the Rings autos are suffering from devaluation to some extent right now.

Collect what you enjoy.  If you are looking for an investment then you are probably better off with mutual funds or even savings bonds. ;)

The auction says the set contains 12 scratch-n-sniff cards and that you get a chance at a movie prop candy bar. :D

There's are also 12 Scratch and Sniff cards inserted randomly into packs to collect.  Also see if you can find a golden ticket to win an actual movie prop of a Wonka Chocolate bar as used in the movie.

Yeah, I've seen this one.  The seller has been trying to sell this one for over a month now (the price keeps dropping a little each time it's re-listed).  I don't think anyone is keeping track of them though. :-\

I bought a few prop cards the other day, just need the 4 SD tickets and the retail tickets to nearly finish my prop lot (not inc the grass props & wrapping paper, golden ticket obviously   :( )


Also I bought a box of 100 packs of mini movie cards and I swear I got stitched up again, each pack is supposed to have 1 scratch n sniff card, 12 in total to collect. Well out of the 100 packs I opened I had 25 #4s and 25 #3s of the red scratch n sniff set, and 25 #4s & 25 #3s from the blue scratch n sniff set  >:()

Once I get both Charlie Chocolate card sets completed (both the normal and mini) I will have learnt some valuable things, I'll buy them from ebay rather then chance getting a decent card  ;)

I don't know about this product, but the last two Cards Inc products I bought did not have a seal or ANY overwrap on the boxes at all.

And if you want to talk about bad collation, their UFO product was the worst.  Most boxes had 2 of the same autograph in them instead of 2 different ones, and the base cards were not distributed evenly.  I opened 14 boxes and only made 5, yes five, 100 card base sets.

Doubt I'll buy much Cards, Inc. product in the future.  Just too risky.

Funny you should mention the UFO set Ed, because I just opened a box of them the other day.  You're right, the collation was horrible - I ended up purchasing a set off of eBay, it'll be cheaper in the long run. ::P  My box didn't have any autos or pieceworks cards.  And the 4 Future Fashion cards I pulled were 2 each of the same 2 cards. ::)  If I didn't like the TV program so much, I would've skipped this set entirely. ::)

All the Charlie cards will fit in a 9-pocket page (tight fit on the Charlie Sweater card though) except for the two Grass prop cards.  Do you need a specific list with all the card point sizes?

I never intended to collect any Charlie costumes.  Then my 2 kids started watching the DVD every other day and I caved.  ::)  Anyway, I absolutely love the few I got from Tom today.  They're so BRIGHT and COLORFUL, I just think they're great!

The picture of the dress cannot do it justice. That is the best costume card I've ever seen :D The scan of the poster can ether because there is a slight discoloration of green dividing the white from black. And everyone needs to get a Wonka Bar card ;D

Just saw on Tom's ebay store that he had several Charlie San Diego 2006 mystery boxes, similiar to what was done with HP. I just bought 2.

The Charlie Mystery Boxes are authentic...I think its contents include A retail box, a tin, a costume card....there might have been something else, but I can't remember what.   :)

The scoop is this. When the set first came out, the "short" grass card was provided as an incentive to buyers of 25 cases of the CatCF boxes. It's a "card" but I would almost call it a terrarium. It was sent in a clear 3" x 4" x 2-7/8" tall clear plastic storage box because the movie-used prop material grows right out of the card, to a considerable height.

It's really one of the neatest and/or unique incentives ever issued with a card set. But not to be outdone, Tom Breyer arranged with Artbox to produce an even bigger one for sale exclusively at the New York Toy Fair. The "long" grass card required a 5-1/2" x 4" x 2-7/8" box. Strands of plastic grass from the movie's Chocolate Room extend up to 8" (20 mm).

Based on both scarcity and the "fun factor", these cards are underpriced, IMHO. The average for the last 5 sales tallied at the Price Guide for the short-grass card was US$210, for a card numbered xx/39. Take any other Artbox release with a card limited to 39 copies and it would carry a higher price. Against that, it can't fit into the binder. I still haven't figured out how to store mine long-term, so it sits there on the table ... So I guess I get to "enjoy" it even more than I would otherwise.

The long-grass card originally was BINning for $199.99, but it looks like not enough people knew about it to be looking and bidding. The average for the last 5 sales registered in the Price Guide dropped to US$68. But the card is still a short print, numbered to 95, and the size makes it even more "fun" than the short-grass version.

If you're intrigued by the concept and aren't put off about trying to figure out how to store or display them, I'd say those are good prices. At the very beginning the short-grass incentive card was BINning for $599.99, which is more in line with what you would expect for a #/39 card. The #/30 Pear Tree Leaves from Harry Potter POA typically sells for nearly $2000. But Charlie cards don't have as big a crossover appeal as Harry cards, and it's been quite a while since the movie came out. Against that, the Johnny Depp autograph from the series had 125 copies, and it still brings $400 at auction because Johnny doesn't sign often, and the Freddie Highmore auto (89 copies) is holding steady at about $135. Who knows what these cards are really "worth"?  8)
