What is a full set of 16 autographs worth?

What would everyone think that a full set of all 16 autographs would be worth?  I have a chance to buy a set, and want to know what I should pay.  Thanks

What an extremely difficult question.  

Really, it is so hard to say. No one knows at the moment how many autos are existing. And no one knows, if the whole set is "overproduced" and if the prices will fall down because of that. Very very difficult.

Which offer did you get? How much should you pay?

Whilst the Dan Radcliffe on ebay didn't sell for £750ish that it was on that was actually a bargain. We didn't know it at the time! People know it now that they have been opening cases but I am not sure if it went on ebay now it would find the sort of financial rewards that it needs for dealers / colelctors to break even on what they need to even break even neverlo make a profit!

Hmm. I like to speculatate at the moment. What do we have if there are about 2600 cases, you know, i think we must have nearly so much.

Just let us try to get an impression how many autograph cards we should have then. There are 2 auto per case but Gimli got a little bit more. Lets calculate with 5300 autos.

If we only take the cards he pulled and calculate only with these cards, then we got at the end something like that:

50 x Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter)  
50 x Emma Watson (Hermione Granger)

I know, this will not be the truth. But i think, it can give us a good impression.

This would mean, the 4 top cards have a ratio of 1:50 cases. So Gimli got only 2 cards in 25 cases.

But yes, it´s all pure imagination and speculation. We just have no real infos at the moment.

Well think of a few cards, the triple auto, ron, harry.
those cards alone I would value at about 2500+

Think of FOTR merry and what happened to that.. then think of the triple auto, the crad is amazing! and has **3** autos on it of the 3 stars of the movie.

The Hermione auto for the first set is what 300? so you figure ron/harry signed less cards so figure a grand for each? 500 for Hermione thats 2500 and you still got the triple auto.
I would say if you can get them for 4gs, go for it.

but the cards will be worth alot as a set. IMHO

First time on the boards, hope you all dont mind me joining in as a few people have asked me to clarify some things

I have been saying to whoever will listen for weeks that the three big cards will be a huge price. Actually Richard Harry for £700 was a bargain and i told him so when he listed it. If he sold it then the collector go a great deal. Both the Harry and the Tripple are the shortest inserted non sport autos of all time. (forget the 1/1 cards, i am not counting those)

If a tripple comes up and i know one dealer who pulled one on friday, i think you will see it at $2500-$4000. Its a lot of money.

One thing that has not been mentioned is that we were told that he would sign 150 cards and that he will never sign again !!!
Now i would never say never but if that is the case then the cards are fully worth what they are worth. Its the ultimate auto.
If Richard has not sold it then i am sure he will probebly keep it. At least 200 went out of the warehouse on Friday and i am sure that they were all broken by Saturday, yet i have yet to see a Harry, Ron, Hermoinne or Tripple on Ebay ! Just goes to show that yes they are that rare !.

A lot of people will be very upset with this set, but then again there is a lot of affordale inserts in this set as well. I think there is something for everyone. People neeed to get a bit of perspective the first series did well for a lot of people money wise, these things happen maybee once a year with a product, the genie was out of the bottle on this one and for money to be made you have to be patient and preserve pricing on the big stuff. i have read some posts trashing the product because of the print run etc etc. The print run is 1300 cases + 300 cases for Japan with no props + 100 cases for major retailer in the USA (hobby product) so 1700 cases produced,, but really only 1400 cases of good hobby product.

Now before you all get your calculators out, just because something is numbered to an ammount does not mean they will all be inserted.

Product is kept back for a set for each actor/actress signee
Product is kept back for Potter Producers + Writer

The only two cards that this has been an exception on is the tripple and the harry !

Some of these classifications have had 25-50 of each kept for them. That pretty much blows out the water all of you guys that try and work it out as to how many boxes were produced.

yes double the ammount of product has been produced but tripple of the ammount of cards have been made to collect, this means that it will go the same way as people are breaking more. Look at Chris as an example he broke way more on this one that the first series, if this replicates the rest of the hobby then it wont take long for the boxes to get eaten up !

Personally i think its a fabulous product the tripple card from pictures i have seen look fantastic and the two monster cards are also great.

Blimmin good set but it is a lot harder to get autos. I myself opened a case with no autos whatsoever which was very dissappointing.

He's right, there's tonnes to pull here and it's a great set. But more than ever I think we will have to take one or two 9 pocket pages and fill them with just your favourites. You could have a set of robe cards; Harry (very common), Hermione (UK Excl), Neville (not too difficult to pull) and Draco - (although there are 600 of these around I think Tom had a few to keep because I pulled one in 4 case and I think Chris only pulled one in 33 cases).

Or you can take a few props etc. I think it's tough to think "I will collect all props" or "I will collect all clothings" because there are a lot of difficult ones to get in all the categories; Props have the 25 case incentives, Costumes have very difficult pulls like the tie materials limited to 300 or so and the Autographs... well I think it's best not to get us started on the autographs ...

I am very happy with the look of this set from the photos I have seen so far. I am a collector and will be happy with anything I pull from my boxes. I know there are sooo many costume/prop/cinema/auto cards that I will never get a full set so I will just collect what I can afford and I think that is what is good about this set. There is opportunity for many hp fans to grab their piece of cinema magic!!

Yeah the 35mm film cards worked out well too! And it was quite inspired using the trailer because there's tonnes of good shots in there.

Well, I got the full 16 autograph card for $2500.    I am very happy, and very excited to have them in my hands.  I will get some scans when they arrive, and try not to gloat!!  I figured that is a lot better than opening 4 or 5 cases, so I put 5 of my cases up for sale on ebay to cover the cost.  One step closer to a master set!!!!

Yes, I am VERY happy right now.  I have been extremely luck the last few months in opening cards (hotbox from first series Harry set, PJ in 2 boxes from ROTK update) but when I heard that there were no hotboxes in this set, and I thought there might be a chance my luck is running out, this seemed to be the best way to go.
