Millionaire author JK Rowling has admitted that another character will die in her next book, and it could even be Harry himself.The 39-year-old author admitted her plan on her website when a fan asked: "Are you going to kill off any more characters?"She replied: "Yes, sorry."But fans will have to wait until Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is released next year to find out who will not make it to the final chapter.But bookies William Hill is already taking bets on the likely candidates.Harry's pal groundskeeper Hagrid is the 3/1 favourite, closely followed by headmaster Dumbledore at 4/1.Malfoy comes in at 5/1 while Harry himself is looking fairly safe at 33/1.

A lot of news organizations picked up this story and got it slightly wrong. JKR did say that more characters would die, but she never said in which book (common sense says that people will die in both remaining books). She's also been hinting for quite a while that people shouldn't assume that Harry will survive book 7.
If you go to her site, click on the paper clips, then click on "About the books." She answers a lot of questions, including a poll question.

Her latest comments indicate that Harry will survive to book 7, but she won't reveal whether he's still alive at the end of the book.

I reckon she'll either kill Harry off in Bk 7 or he loses ALL his wizarding powers in the final conflict!  It will have to be something like that as she's said many times that there will be no more books in the series ... the saga ends with Bk 7 ..... |

Well I read once that she said never say never, which gave me hope. I'm silly I worry about all this yet I have already killed peeps in my Fan fic and plan more (not saying Harry's even safe in mine ) |

Hee hee that's half the fun of writing your version of HP isn't it? I had a ff posted on the WB Hp site ... till WB decided they were going to *cough* upgrade all theboards and they archived just about everything on there including mine! I kinda lost the urge to carry on with it after that, plus the fact that I started back to work so I didn't have as much free time to write it. Still, I had some fun with the Harry, Ron, Hermy and Ginny and I made sure there was plenty of angst and cliffies to keep my readers baying for my blood to post more of it! LOL  |

He he yes thats it. The trouble is I'm now worried about getting my HBP as it is what really happens not my story (and three on my main characters don't actually excist :'(). But I am trying to look at it like they are paralle (sp?) univerisies both the same up to OoTP  And I like the way I can do what I want to do in the story and kill who I think needs to be killed to progress the story and keep the people I don't want to see dead. I as with JK even have my ending worked out  |

I have mixed feelings/predictions. I think no matter how she hints, we will never have any idea until we read the final chapter. so, if you are reading this, it isn't a spoiler but my predictions..... so don't read further if you don't want ideas!
I feel like the whole Harry Potter series can be kind of like the movie the Butterfly Affect (the directors cut-where he dies in the end to make it all right). In a way, HP should have died the night his parents died. So, his life is borrowed time and to set the world "right" he will die in the end for the good of everyone else to kill Voldemort once and for all. Opening the door for him to see all those he loved and lost in the "after-life."
Or, I can also see him losing everything dear to him and having a horrendous struggle to the end to eventually finish off Voldemort. But then live with the empty shell of his life left of no-one he held dear.
OR! Dumbldore helps him defeat Voldemort and dies himself, leaving Harry to live the rest of his life in happiness!
I seem morbid don't I? I'm just having anxiety issues over our beloved HP and bad thoughts keep coming about!

Unfortunately I think Dumbledore will have to die as he is the only one Voldemort is frightened of, therefore leaving nothing but Harry to stop him. Although I'm sure Dumbledore said something about death in book one that would seem that he himself is not frightened of it.
