Hi guys

Well Star Wars has finally hit Roz... I have bought the DVDs and can't wait to watch them!!!

I hope it's not a let down after you guys have hyped it so much. I got a pack of exclusive "super top trumps" with them so I'll have to find the star wars top trumps to match that set won't I ? Wink

Well... my Mum saw the DVDs (as I am home for the next couple of days after the concert to go to the dentist and such like and prepare for another big weekend on the marshes) and she said "oh your brother had a few figures to go with that film". My brother is 28 and so the figures must be from around 1985 or earlier and I could do with a hand from you guys working out what they are - and whether there are more to the set... and if you could tell me the names of the characters too that would be great!

Each figure stands about 4 inches tall.

I know this one - Darth Vader, I have a suspicion that the one on the right isn't wearing his original cloak... or does Darth stop half way through the films and buy a camel coat that looks (in the photos) a bit like a bath robe Wink

Jabba the hut's dude:

The Imperial Guard (what a cool looking guy!!)

Admiral Acbar

And this Speeder Bike with it's own figure and instructions.

If you have these, or know anything about these please let me know... thank you!

They are all in great condition as my brother wasn't a fan of star wars, they were presents and he always enjoyed smashing around toy cars instead Wink so they have all sat in a tin these past 20 years or so. We are just interested to know.

Oooh I had the Darth Vader (not in the camel coat, surprisingly, but in his black cape) and I had the speed biker thing as well. If I remember correctly the speed bike exploded into many pieces if you pressed a button on it. It was a real bugger to put back together!

Did you really Mark? I had no idea (we are at opposite ends of the country at present).

But you haven't seen the films either had you?

Yes it does jump into pieces.. I have no idea why... I'll read the instructions Wink... perhaps it happens in the movie... we'll see... I'll wait and see them with you!

After racking my brains & checking out my records, I can safely say that the top right figure is our friend Darth Vader doing his impersonation of that other late 70's, early 80's cultural icon..........................

There is another possible impersonation taking place as well, but I'm trying to find the right picture to show.

I don't collect the star wars figures (actually I had a lot of them prob about 30 when I was a kid and many of the ships and vehicles) but I would think they are worth some big $$$.   Check with a more knowledgable source on those items, but I think that is the case if they are in good condition!

You may be able to put them on evilbay and get enough $$$ for some more cards!  I think you are right on most of the characters - its been a while.  Not sure about the coat on Vader, did he get a visit from the fab five? (not sure if that makes sense out of US)

I would sell if you have no attachment to them!

Thanks... I am hoping we have a closet star wars figure expert on the forum who might know Wink

They are my bros so the money from them won't be going on cards. He has learning difficulties so he'll be putting the money to even more worthwhile use (yep I find it very humbling).

Thanks guys

No pax... once I have the Otto signing ticket I will be chasing tickets for you... that is not to say that I won't give you my star wars boxed set to get signed by Carrie tho Wink

In another diabolical liberty - I am trying to get a bit of cash back on buying the box set offline instead of online by selling the "super" special limited edition top trumps I got with my DVD... if anyone is interested have a nosey at my ebay auction here

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5923691119

Thanks!

Roz, you are a very nice person Cheesy - I thought you might be 'seduced by the dark side' and go 'Star Wars mad!' If you do manage to get tickets, I will of course get your DVD Box set signed.

The super top trumps look cool - you should get at least a tenner for them (may take another sneaky peak near the end of the auction!)
