How does $240 sound? Grin Grin Grin
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6120448646&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

Got it as via second chance offer as the high bidder did not want to cough up Smiley I hope it comes through though - I have looked at his FB, no recent LOTR cards sold - and he is also the one selling the 2 HP auto masters. Anyone dealt with him before?

Congratulations

I hope all's ok! But pay with your credit card!

I have no reason feedback wise not to trust them but every card they had was mis spelled in the title, the Hermione card mis spelled Hermione, the FOTR Legolas had Orlando spelled wrong, and they were selling Eowyn and 2 Gimli cards from FOTR! I am sure my worries are unfounded but please be careful - why would you mis spell so many high value cards  Undecided

And now of course... offering second chance offers - I wonder whether it's worth contacting the high bidder to ask if they really have backed out...

Thanks for the advice! I have emailed all the high bidders and won't budge a cent until I have gotten replies from them. I also emailed the seller about it. If it falls through, can I ask one of you UK-ites to pop over to Leeds and coax it from him? Grin

Let's hope it's not necessary to take a trip Wink

Although it's a fair journey from here... we don't fly everywhere between cities in the UK like you guys in Oz and the US !

Knew this was too good to be true - email from one high bidder:

Hi,

Something is very wrong here. I too was offered a second chance offer, and I thought it was weird that I got a second chance when there was another person that bid higher than me and didn't win the card.  I had e-mailed the seller about the condition of the card, and have not heard back yet.  This is very fishy how many of these $300+ Cards can this person have. I was going to do the second chance offer, but now I my have to pass.  Thanks for e-mailing me about this.

Ah well, forewarned is forearmed, this guy is not getting a cent from me Angry

Well FTY we were very lucky to spot this one! With so much feedback he's obviously leaving ebay or at least leaving that ID and throwing caution to the wind.

There is also the chance that the ebay ID was hacked and these things were listed - but at the same time it's an odd sort of thing to list - usually they list VAIO laptops  Roll Eyes

It was the little things, the fact that none of the pictures matched up - some were front and back, some were very small etc etc - they weren't all scanned in by him, and all the bad spelling, and the fact that they only had the high priced cards ....

Thanks guys for the help - if the guy has the cheek to leave me a neg, I will email ebay and cite the suspicious circumstances - 4 higher bidders and all receiving the 2nd chance offer!

Most likely there's something wrong here, but isn't it possible that the seller made second chance offers to all of the bidders, hoping that one of them would take it?  I looked through some of his feedback, and he misspelled a name on a card at least once, but had positive feedback for the transaction.

You are (of course) right... I am only warning FTY to proceed with caution - and it might be a good idea to wait for replies from both the seller and other high bidders - that's all!

I don't want you to miss out on a cheap Elrond Wink

I agree with you, FTY should be cautious.  That's a lot of money, and even with the protection of paying with a credit card, who would want to go through the hassle of trying to get the money back?

It'll be interesting to see if she hears from the high bidder who backed out of the sale.

well this is an interesting situation indeed..

I have actually sold to a high bidder a miranda otto card on ebay and offered a second one to the second higher bidder as well. I wonder if this may be a similar circumstance  Huh

he has such good feedback but it also seems so fishy!! I guess it would be safe to pay via credit card (or stay away altogether if you have a bad feeling)

FTY - I've actually dealt with this chap! Smiley
True, I haven't bought anything near as expensive as the Elrond he's offered you, but the items I've had from him were exactly as he'd listed them (sealed etc.) and they were sent to me pretty quickly and were well packaged too.
(Those of you who I've dealt with on here know I have a 'thing' about packaging because the Post Office appear to use a good number of my items for footie practice judging by the state they're in when I receive them!)  Angry

I can understand your worries and I think waiting till you hear more from the other bidder first and if you do decide to go ahead, then using your credit card to pay for it are all excellent bits of advice.
I know this might sound daft, but have you actually emailed him to ask him why he's got so many Elrond's up for sale at once?
He's always replied to my emails me when I've had queries for him .... just a thought.

Oh ... and don't forget ~ I have his address too! Wink

Good Luck with it and let us know what happens  Cheesy

FTY - take a look @ his other items. He has another FOTR Elrond on sale now with the same scan. Caveat Emptor

Hi everyone, I received emails from the high bidder and another higher bidder (bid higher than me, not the winner). The high bidder told me he had not backed out of the sale and was going through with it. The other person told me he too received a second chance offer and that the seller told him he had 3 spare autos.

THEN... the seller emailed me and said that he had 6 spares he wanted to get rid of! Huh

I dunno, I may be paranoid and missing out on a great deal AND risking a neg, but I am staying away from this one. I emailed the seller explaining I did not want to buy (I already pressed BIN, stupidly Tongue) cos I thought I was getting the auto in the scan. Lets see what he says... HOpe that he is reasonable Undecided

Hi,
did you buy it?if so i will have send a non paying bibber notice to ebay to
get my money back..if not no  worries.i also will leave neg feedback for all
non paying bibbers..

*Sighs*... I sent him an email saying I was not getting what I bid on and it was not fair for him to make me pay for it. I said that I pressed the BIN button, and that was my mistake and offered to give him $20 to refund his listing fees so he can relist again. Lets see how that goes.

It would also be nice if he bothered to type properly in his reply Undecided
