Does anyone remember which scene (or approximately how far into the movie) has images of the Death Eater wanted posters?  I've been desperately searching for some screen caps that show them and possibly give an indication of how big they are.  I should just watch the movie, but I'm sick and really don't feel like sitting through the whole thing. Undecided

I've only watched the movie once on DVD, so I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think they show someone's wanted poster possible Greyback after Draco and his mother go into Borgin and Burke.  I can't remember if it's before or after Harry, Ron, and Hermione climb the roof to look in and Greyback closed the shade.  I hope this helps.

I recently watched the movie again on my laptop while sitting at work (lol) and it does indeed show the posters before Harry and the gang climb up on the roof.

It's funny, but I just knew that both of you would have a reply! Cheesy  Thanks!  Now, I'm almost positive there was another scene with the posters, possibly flapping in the breeze and blowing away.  The reason I think I remember it is that I was surprised by how small they seemed.

I'm really interested in the size of the posters because of some of the swatches I've seen in the props.  I could swear that I've seen Alecto Carrow's and Bellatrix's faces in profile view.  A friend of mine who's on this board (I won't name names, but you know who you are, dahling Wink ) is not convinced and probably thinks my fever is making me see things.  What makes things more confusing is that the images of the posters that are printed on the front of the cards look a bit different than the posters that are on display with the Harry Potter Exhibition.

Let me know what you think!

HP Exhibition -- There is a lot of writing on the posters, which I have yet to see on any prop card swatch.

Alecto P12 #151/240

my Bellatrix P10 #194/230

P10 swatch rotated -- I see a face in the upper right with an eye, nose, mouth, and a strand of her hair down her face

If these swatches really do show their faces (and aren't just artifacts from the printing process), then the posters Artbox received must be quite small.

I've thought that too.  I've only seen the cards on Ebay or this site.  I haven't seen one in person.   I've noticed the profiles looks so blurry.  They seem much clearer in the movie to me.

The images are made up of small dots, which look better from a distance than up close.  It's definitely different from the printing used for the Sirius wanted poster in the POAU set.

What makes things more confusing is that the images of the posters that are printed on the front of the cards look a bit different than the posters that are on display with the Harry Potter Exhibition.

Let me know what you think!

I think that these are wizarding posters, and the images change constantly.  Cool

I'm watching again once I read this thread, so far through the approach to Borgin & Burke. There's a Fenrir poster in the foreground when the trio enters Nocturne Alley, but you can't tell the size from the perspective. All three of Fenrir's shots are moving, but the left one is primarily for the left profile and right for the right, the opposite from the Exhibition pix. But the Amycus and Bellatrix Exhibition pix look the same as the pix on the prop cards, so there could still be a size difference in the swatches.

A slight bit later the trio is standing next to three posters. They're out of focus, but the left one seems to be Alecto. The posters are a good 2-1/2 to 3 feet tall. I can find logic in different sizes of posters for windows versus walls, so if they're sometimes smaller, maybe it's like the "mini-posters" Topps uses as box toppers. We see 8-1/2 x 11 "posters" at business places, which are almost worth calling "handbills." Just before the visit to B&B you see some papers blowing down the street, but I can't say they're posters.

As for writing on the posters, check this fine variant out (and it has a very nice super- and super-size image still):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120508465748. (Thanks, Adamxxx!) I don't have a clue what the numbers stand for, but the small ones are one pica wide (10/inch), which would make them about 14-point type with most modern typefaces, and the "1" is larger. If I guess that they come from the two lines just below "Reward" on the poster, I could convince myself that the whole poster ratioed to about 10-12 inches tall. If they come from the tiny stuff at the bottom, the original item could be bigger.

(Oh, and for your close-up of P10, I didn't see a face on Mars or a potato chip shaped like Elvis either. [ducking]  I could buy the possibility of a small face in your Alecto poster, but not after I saw my numbers. If that swatch is from the collar/neck in the right mugshot, the whole poster might indeed be 2-3 feet tall.)

No need to duck! Smiley  Unfortunately, the Alecto poster isn't mine.  Some people could see the face on the Bellatrix poster and others couldn't, so I labeled the swatch.  The image reminds me of the Jefferson head on a nickel. Smiley

I've been thinking that Artbox used posters of different sizes for the swatches.  I've sent an e-mail to them, asking if the posters were more standard paper size or poster size.  We'll see what they say.

I like Adamxxx's card and can shed a little light on it.  Hot Topic had a Bellatrix wanted poster shirt.  I hope Sara doesn't mind, but she sent me this link to her shirt and I'm going to post it here.  The numbers in Adamxxx's card are similar to the numbers underneath the far right picture of Bellatrix.  It's also interesting to note that the right and left profile pictures are the same -- one is the mirror image of the other.

Of course I don't mind! And if anyone is wondering....I am the one who thinks the posters are bigger than Cindy is imagining....but I like her theory of them using different size posters.

If my numbers are the Alecto equivalent of the ones from your scan, then the text below the mugshots would be about 2 inches wide and the whole poster maybe 18-24 inches wide.

Ah, I see. Gray inside a circle. Maybe I'll try to scan and low-res the pixels on a Roosevelt dime.  Grin

So then the posters would have to be larger than the standard sheet of paper, right? 18-24 inches is pretty big.

Thanks Jeff! I do think that is what your text is of. Of course, this still does not confirm or deny the fact that they could have used more than one poster with more than one size.

Here's another image of the Alecto poster:

It's not high-res enough to make out the text, but indeed there are serial numbers of the same type as those in the Bellatrix poster. And my approximate calculation of proportions predicted 59 cm or 23 in for the poster width, extrapolated from the 5461 swatch I have here in front of me. I googled on "poster paper" and a common size for long rolls is 23-in width, and common offerings of cut sheets include 22x28 and 22x30.

That doesn't prove anything, but the face in the low-res picture looks more like Ron from the first movie than it does Bellatrix.  Cool
