I have been really debating wether to buy any update card cases but my decision was made easy for me when I called up and told they are no longer taking preorders....

I guess I'll just stick to my plan of buying the cards I want individually (can't wait to get buckbeak!!) Wink

Eargh - that's very bad news indeed Sonarghost. I really would have thought that it would have been better to buy boxes. It certainly was for the last set and all indications seem to show that it will be for this set. Perhaps there are other resellers still with stock??

I wonder when/if Cards inc will do it - they have not done so yet on the collectorzone site - but they have done so for LOTR trilogy which is released about the same time Huh

Maybe they think that they will lose profit on cheaper preorders and are holding onto boxes to sell when popularity soars after insert details are released (most likely when the set is released)?

Has MPC/gimli sold out on pre-orders?

I think that MPC has sold out! But I think Gimli is waiting to see what boxes he actually receives before pre-selling!

Olly will also be selling boxes too - so I don't think it will be impossible to get boxes, it's just that people will have to have paid UK duty, shipping fees so out of the UK potomac was a good option.

I wonder if sonarghost will mind if I edit his title so that it reads Potomac  Undecided

I just checked the Georgetown Card Exchange site, and they are still taking preorders for boxes and cases.  The shipping cost is reasonable, at least in the US.

Glad I got my order in early.  With them stop preselling over two months before the scheduled release (which has got to be a record) it brings up the question of are these boxes going to get allocated, and am i only going to get 1 case instead of 2?  I would prefer Artbox to produce a quality product loaded with inserts than to stretch it out like topps does and make a crap product with only 1 insert in every box.  I was among the many who got a dud box (5 in total) in my 3 cases that I opened, but I got more boxes than that which had 3 inserts in it, and one box that was very HOT, and had all the inserts.  So in conclusion, I would prefer to have 1 case of good product like the last set, than to have 2 cases of crap product like topps puts out.  On a side not I like that I can knock on topps here, because I really don't like them.  Long live Artbox!!!!   Learn from the mistakes of topps!!!!

I wish you would have posted that last week, my local card dealer emailed me with a price of $525 a case (which was about $50 less than Potomac) so I couldn't resist and had to get 2 more cases from him!

He picks them up from the distribution center the day of release so I might be one of the first to get some boxes!!!!

Hey Beckham,
Modesto, eh? You are about 450 miles north of where I live. Any chance your "local card dealer" can take an extra order for a case? Thanks,

I can email him and check, but my guess will be that he won't extend that price since his preorder had to be in on Friday of last week.  I can check, he can be a little flakey sometimes in responding to emails also!

In fact he likes to wait til they come out and see where it goes from there he is still sitting on a case of HP POA as of a month ago (don't know if he still is).

Thx

Two months before the set is released, and already a sense of frantic racing to get enough of the product and make sure we are not victims of allocation.  This set is going to once again be golden.  Smiley

How does allocation normally work?  Does it mean that the retailer sends out complete orders until no boxes are left and the last people to order get nothing, or does the retailer reduce the number of boxes each buyer gets, so that all of the buyers get part of their orders?

Also, I think most don't only set aside a certain portion for preorder (especially if they think it will go up in value).   I don't think most dealers are going to sell their whole product order for $55 a box if they think  they might be able to get twice as much later!

It is easier for them to make the margin that way (of course I could be wrong, but that is my guess).

Also I think you will see the ebay sellers put there product up 30 days or less before the release date.   I auctually saw a presell box get order a while back for I think $120 US.   That is just nuts, there will be more than ample supply on ebay when the product comes out.  Also check out the current presell boxes (those people are just wrong for trying to get some poor fool to panic and buy a presell for $100, $150 etc.)  Dont do it!

Argh! I was gonna buy from potomac but waited to see how the LOTR Trilogy set was gonna be. Now that I know I won't be buying boxes of those, I missed out from potomac in the process!

Does anyone know where I can still find any HP update boxes at a decent price? Thanks!

A previous post said Georgetown card exchange was still doing some good prices - I think it was about $70 a box when I last checked.

Good luck!

Hi and welcome inkjet.

As you can see from this post as we are getting nearer to the release (just 8 weeks or so now) dealers are selling out of their pre-release quota and I can be sure that upon release the prices will be higher.

There are lots of forum members in the UK here and let me use Chris as an example; he has always bought from potomac before but this time he is buying ALL his cases from Cards Inc. (so take it from that that people ALWAYS get import taxed when they get goods from potomac).

In the UK MPC (a member of this forum and MPC_Ltd on ebay) has sold out of pre-orders. I don't know whether Chris/ Gimli on this forum is taking pre-orders (I don't think he is) but I am sure he'll put your name on a list if you like for when he knows what stock he has received.

And Olly (another forum member - Olly4Kay) on ebay will be selling boxes this time too (he just opened all his cases last time) - so it's worth sending him a mail

scouse691 is selling boxes on eBay for £48.99. Not sure if this is a good price or not but I have bought individual cards from this seller in the past and was very happy with the service I got.

I have to say I think that will be a good to average price long term! Put it this way, scouse's equivalent price last time was £34.99 a box - which is a veeery good price, it was even a good price at the time.

MPC was doing pre-sales at £37.49 a box but you had to pay up front (i.e. over a month ago) and he does buy in serious bulk. From what I gather that price (£37.49) is cheaper than many can buy wholesale (and that is based on a price when you buy 25 cases!)!!!

I think MPC is sold out of his pre-order allocation though.
