Ebay's stupid only free P&P option on DVDS

I'm having a massive clear out and putting a lot of stuff up on eBay. Luckily if they start a 99p there's no listing fee although they'll have 10% if it sells. Well as has been spoken of on here they are capping the price of postage for various items (saying too high postage puts buyers off, shouldn't that be the sellers look out), I already had to bend the rules to sell a load of games in one go (had to sell them as bulk). Anyways I go to list my DVDs and I'm told postage can't be any more that £0.00. How fair, not! So I have to make a loss or to put the price on my item and end up paying a listing fee.  Totally unfair, free p&p should be an option, not forced on you. I wrote to eBay to compain and got the usual tosh. Anyway I have actually sold one of my DVDs through amazon. Just feel its totally unfair.

Okay...let's get back to the subject of the thread.  There are many sellers with ridiculous shipping prices, far above what it actually costs to ship an item, and eBay is supposed to police the listings for this.  People can report auctions that have unreasonable S&H.  Of course, eBay does nothing about the complaints filed for this.  By forcing sellers to bundle the shipping into the cost of the item, it will be even more difficult to ascertain whether buyers are being overcharged.

Dawn, on eBay US, the fee to list DVDs is 10 cents for opening bids of 99 cents or less, with a final value fee of 8.75 percent (for items with a closing value of up to $25).  If you do a BIN, the listing fee is 15 cents regardless of the price of the auction), but the final value fee shoots up to 15 percent (for items with a closing value of up to $50).  Sellers aren't allowed to charge more than $3 for shipping items in the book/CD/DVD categories unless they use the shipping calculator with the exact weight of the package.

Dawn's right though Cindy, I have recently tried to sell a few bits and bobs in the way of DVDs and have discovered that it costs you less (and you gain more, usually a smile) to stand outside your home handing them out to passers by!

Yes, listing is free for 99p DVDs, but as Dawn reports you can't charge P&P.

So, say it ends at 99p, you pay their fee, at least 40-50p plus the fee paypal charges you to actually receive that money and I'm sure that you lose money in the end.

Is Amazon easy to sell with Dawn? Or should I take my DVDs in to work and allow colleagues to take them home?

Had also a similar conundrum with selling a figure on eBay, I was only allowed to charge £3 for shipping a collectable and relatively heavy item... so what did I do? In this case (rather than handing them out on the street as per DVDs) I upped the BIN price of the item by the amount that it would cost to post, then I had to factor in eBay's share in that money again and it all got upped again.... guess who wins in this process? Yep eBay!

Well I have sold one DVD through them. I put a low price so it sold quickly. I have sent it but I haven't had any feedback yet. Although beware Amazon take a good cut.

Have just found out your can only charge up to £2.75 from books. Lets hope no ones selling the bible.
