So now that I've listed my breaks for the first two, I just got curious about the 'value' of low number cards.  I see a lot of them going for much higher prices on Ebay, some #1's asking for like 5 times what a mid-range number would go for.  Anyhow, is the value truly that much higher? Or is it just relative? Depending on who is looking at it?  I'm contemplating a number one film cell card they have at the local shop, but I'm just not sure, haha.  Any help is appreciated, thanks!

As with most pricing, it's a relative thing.

You have to remember that Buy It Now prices on eBay don't mean that it will ever sell for that amount.  Some sellers just hope someone uninformed or flush with cash comes along.

I've seen sales or 2x regular pricing for #1 and Last # cards, but even that is the high end of things.  Most "low numbers" that aren't #1 are strictly confversation pieces and rarely bring much of a premium.

My 2 cents...

Like Ed said, it's all relative.  Some people like to collect cards that are numbered first or last in the print run (and are willing to pay for it).  Personally, I think the swatch or cells are more important.

I agree with Cindy and Ed. I think the swatch is more important to me personally, but I also like to have numbers that maybe mean something to me on cards that don't have variant swatches. I do have a last numbered card for a Harry Potter set and a number 1 card from a 24 set, but I pulled both cards from my boxes.

So our third box wasn't much luck for us, but that's ok, I only paid 16 bucks for it, so the risk was low.  Here's the breakdown

Box 2936/6000

1 Complete Base Set, a second set missing only #52 (Same as the last two boxes, collation has been ridiculous)
41 Extra Base Cards

Costume 6 - 129/590
Puzzle Cards 1, 3, 5, 7, 8
Box Topper 1

Hopefully some more boxes coming in soon, of MM2 and a few others, hopefully we'll have more luck than a single Dudley costume, haha.

Ok, so we received 12 1/2 total boxes today, one more on the way.  I'll post the first 2 1/2, than the case.

Ordered the Ci1 incentive with the case, it wasnt numbered on the website, they sent me 002/380.

The company I purchased from threw in 12 extra packs, and I figured they'd be searched, I was wrong.

From the 12 packs we received
Pz 1, 4, and 6
and a Bjelac/Janevski dual auto redemption

Not bad for free I'd say, haha.

On to the two random boxes.

Box 1082/6000
BT2
Pz 2, 4, 6, 7, and 9
Verne Troyer Auto

Box 5130/6000
Bt5
Pz 2, 4, 6, 7, and 9
C3 Ron's Sweater (Two Color Swatch) 277/500

Now onto the Case.  I dont know if the cases are numbered, if they are, I'll add that later.

Case Topper - CT3 - Harry and Dragon

4273/6000
BT3
Pz 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9

2875/6000
BT1
Pz 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8
C6 - Dudley Shorts (2 Color) 163/590

3575/6000
BT4
Pz - 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9
P5 -Buckbeak Chain and Feather 102/150
C4 Uncle Vernon 463/600

1328/6000
BT4
Pz 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
C7 Harry and Oliver (Red Swatch) 176/430
Safer Auto

1636/6000
BT5
Pz 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8
C7 Harry and Oliver (Red Swatch) 024/430
Apple Brook Auto Redemption

2012/6000
BT2
Pz 1, 3, 5, 6, and 8
C1 - Ginny's Robe (TONS of color) 512/670
P8 - Yule Ball Drapes and Program 018/400

Alright, so thats it for today, I think we did ok, got a few things we needed.  Didnt hit any of the ultra rare autos, but the variants were cool, a lot of low numbers in this case, 5 of them right around 50 and below.  The buckbeak prop was probably the hit of the case I think.  Alright, we'll I'll post the other boxes once they arrive.

Ok, so yes, the set is far outdated, but ran across a very very good deal on some boxes, so we picked them up hoping to hit a card or two we're missing from our set.

0076/6000
BT3
Ryan Nelson Auto (Much smaller signature than the one we already had)
C3 - 098/500 Ron Sweater (Lots of grey mixed in with the black)

5373/6000
BT2
C2 - Brannaugh Jacket (407/590)

1856/6000
BT3
Richard Leaf Auto
C12 - 244/250 Hermione and Ginny Dual (Multi Color swatch for Ginny)

3832/6000
BT4
C2 - Brannaugh Jacket (342/570)

1715/6000
BT5
Tolga Safer Auto
C10 Fleur Dual 031/470 (Blue Swatch with seam for task costume)

So nothing great, we needed the Hermione/Ginny dual though, so that saved us money from buying it on Ebay for an arm and a leg.

We're going to re-write our need/want/have list on the Diagon Alley section, so check it out please!

I remember selling mine as a Buy it Now for £80 just after the set was released - so definitely a good card.
