Good thinking, considering the site is still down. So, has anyone heard any info about the HP set that's supposed to come out in December? It should be a full set with autos, costumes, and props, but I haven't heard a peep about it in quite a while.

While not impossible, I would call the set doubtful at this point. If they have not solicited dealer's orders yet, I don't see any way to get a set out in 4 weeks time. Another big customer problem would be dealing with Diamond Comics. Their next catalog will be for orders arriving in February. But Diamond is too big a customer to ignore and every comic shop relies upon them to supply them with merchandise. There would be no way for Diamond to take orders for a set coming in December, at this point. I'm really concerned about Artbox's future. Harry Potter is the only productive license they have right now. 24 has some life left, but considering the poor showing the Season 5 set has had on the retail side (anybody want some at cost?  ) I wouldn't think that a future set would get many dealers excited about it unless you had a Keifer autograph. Universal Monsters is another of their licenses, but they've been promising us Dracula and Wolfman sets for over a year now. And honestly they would have to be pretty creative to make such old films interesting to the average card buyer. Can you really keep the doors open on a manufacturing business with only 2 or 3 product releases in a year?  Ed |

This has been a concern for a while.  Having only one or two profitable licenses is the reason that Artbox is trying to rush another set before the end of the year -- they have nothing else to release, but have to replace the HBP set. Breygent picked up the Dexter license (really looking forward to this set  ). There's no reason for Artbox to not be able to get some other TV and movie releases. I'd love to see sets for Entourage and Sons of Anarchy. |

I would think they could get another license if they tried. Inkworks has no problem picking them up, getting Twlight and Ghost Whisperer. There is so much out there Artbox could get.
We collect 24, but aren't s excited about it the same way as Harry Potter or some other sets. I really do not expect to see the new HP set this year. If they are planning on it still coming out, I see it happening closer to February.

I received an e-mail from Kay yesterday. She said that info for MM2 will be released next week, and flyers and promos should be ready in a couple of weeks. I didn't ask about HBP, but that should be out in June or July, since the movie is being released in July.

Thanks kbmum!  That's some good news to look forward to. It's going to be interesting to see what kind of autos, props and costume cards we will be getting with the MM2 set. My only worry now is deciding whether or not to get a case of MM2 or wait for the HBP set . |

You might be able to decide when the MM2 info is released next week. My big concern is that it will have the same insert ratio as the first MM set. There were two boxes in every case that had only one insert AND the box price was higher than a regular release. I was one of the unfortunate people who bought two boxes, with both of them having only one, high-numbered insert. I have never, ever, felt so sick to my stomach about trading cards. I won't buy any boxes of MM2, but I will look on eBay for whatever inserts interest me.

I didn't know that about the cases for the first MM set. I only ever bought a couple of boxes of these. As you so rightly pointed out, the prices for them were a lot higher than a regular release which is why i stopped at 2 boxes!. If the insert ratio is not very good then i might just pass and wait for the HBP set.
Normal insert ratios for a regular set are usually around 10 costumes, 5 autos and 3 props aren't they kbmum?.
I remember buying a POAU case quite a while ago, which i had the unfortunate knowledge of not knowing about the poor insert ratio until after i had purchased it :'(
Why did this set have such a poor insert ratio?.
Were boxes just badly packed or was this intended by Artbox?.

The normal insert ratio for a movie-specific case is 10 costumes, 5 autos, and 3 props, plus the case card and an average of 5 foils per box.
POAU was a mess, basically due to greed. The POA set caught everyone by suprise, much like the Twilight set that Inkworks released a few months ago. When Artbox announced an update set, there were many people who wanted to buy huge quantitites of cases, expecting the set to do as well as the first one. Instead of limiting the print run, Artbox produced cases to fill the pre-orders it was getting. I can't remember right now what the estimated print run was, but I think it was around 2100 cases (POA had 500 cases). The set was a month late and had tons of dud boxes and other problems. I think the quantity was too much for the companies that were contracted to print and pack the cards, and mistakes were made with packing the inserts. The people who invested a lot of money into these cases didn't do very well, for the most part. There was such a glut of cards that prices bottomed out quickly (except for variants and rare cards) and many didn't make back their investments. Some dealers (or would-be dealers) went out of business.

2100 cases!!. That was just ridiculous!. No wonder the insert ratios were terrible!. Now i know why my pulls for my case were so bad. I think i got 3 autos (nothing great). I can't remember exactly how many costume and props but it definitely wasn't that many and quite a few of them were doubles!. Just my luck that out of every set that has been made, my favourite Harry Potter film and therefore the cards i would like to get most of all has one set that is the rarest of them all and therefore impossible to buy and too expensive to buy if and when they do appear and another set that is easier and cheaper to get but is the duffest of the lot! |

You did well with POAU by pulling three autos in one case. Most of them had two, or even one. There should have been 10 costumes, three props, three filmcards, and two autos in any given case.

If i was lucky pulling three autos from that case then that would of been a rare occurence for me! I don't usually have much luck when it comes to boxes and cases. I remember once that i bought two sealed POA hobby boxes months apart and from two different sellers and believe it or not i got the same two pulls from them both...each box contained a Michael Gambon auto card and a George Weasley Gryffindor Quidditch Robe costume card! . Of all the luck!. Don't get me wrong, they are nice cards but each box cost me about £65 each a bit because they are so rare so you could understand my disappointment when i had finished with my second box. Now what were the chances of that happening!!. |

It's taken 160 days for Artbox to get the same crappy site they had before  You would think there would be more of a fanfare for the new set rather than just a link to the sell sheet and no info. |

Hey, that's pretty good for them, adding the single page with the picture of the sell sheet. And it's the first time I've heard about the Star Wars Real Mask Magnets. In the rest of the site if you check by product lines, they still haven't recognized the existence of 24 Season 5, much less HP MM2.  It would have been rather nice if they had chosen to add the SDCC cards to their checklists. |
