Hi,

I have been away for quite some time just been really busy. My partner and I are wanting to set up our own website to sell small level trading cards (but dont want to use ebay anymore as costs per auction too high and dont want to open a shop on there) I am after some advice on if anyone knows what web companies are the the best but relativly cheap to host as this is just a hobbie and also the best way of buying in .
Also if anyone has a shop and would like us to link them to us or banner adverts once set up maybe we could have a chat to see if good for all parties.

Cheers

The big problem with this idea is you'll never drive the same amount of buyers into your own website compared to the hits you get on eBay.

eBay has it's problems, but honestly for the traffic they provide, screening of customers, and techinical resources they are not that bad.  Having a site requires hosting, driving traffic in via search engines, and a fair amount of time and effort to make it look good.

Especially with lesser sought after cards, you don't get that kind of traffic on your own website.  Most of the people searching are looking for the hard to find, in my experience.

eBay charges what it does for a reason.  You are paying for service.  Online hosting, selling format, and a built in customer base with keyword searches.  It's a pretty good package.
