Hi folks, big appeal for anyone with spare copies of issues 6, 7,, and 8 before I cave and start selling Mark's autographs cards for 50p a pop in order to buy them from ebay I do have spare issues to swap or I have money... well not really but i really want to complete the set.

Seriously, if you aren't in the LOTR fan club - why not?

I wish I had joined at the beginning, I'd have got all the issues cheaper and I'd have had my name on the DVDs:P FAME!

They are fantastic, each issue there is an in depth interview with one cast member, (sometimes 2) and each issue there is a big article on some part of the "making of" eg the chain mail (with pics of McKellen wearing a mail tie they made him) and another on the making of the music with Howard Shore.

Every issue they catch up with Peter Jackson and every issue there is a page showing you what all the LOTR actors are up to at the moment!

I think it's great!

If you aren't in the fan club yet collect the autos and scream when you see the previews of the Extended edition boxes, please explain why you don't like the fan club!

We only joined recently and we are member number 199,000 (ish) so there are a LOT of members but I still don't think it's very many!

As you know I am a member.  I too wish I joined the first year, I had all the info but just did not join - why - 9/11 happened and I got sent overseas!  It would have been so cool to have my name on the Extended Versions of the DVD's!  

I joined the second year and was lucky enough to have been given all the back issues from year one by Decipher for free!  They found out I was serving in the Marine Corps.  Many of the employees' spouses at Decipher are either in the Navy/Marine Corps or have been and they look after their own!  Decipher's Headquarters is in Norfolk, Virginia - home to one of the largest Navy bases anywhere.  Thanks Decipher!  

The Fan Club is outstanding as Roz describes.  There  some very interesting behind the scenes stories from the actors and crew plus Peter Jackson.   Hey maybe we can come up with a cool story about The Forum and its LOTR's content and send it to Decipher for inclusion in an upcoming Fan Club issue.  They are always including cool fan coverage of events and interesting things fan related in each issue so what do you think?

The only thing I have against the Fan Club is the price of memebership to UK. I would have joined early on, but the price put me off. So, I'm still not a member.

Do you know the first time I looked I thought *ouch*... months later I looked on ebay and saw that the price of issues are about £15 each in the UK and perhaps £10-£12 on ebay USA!

I can't remember the exact fighures now but between the time of my first viewing of the decipher fan club pages and my return the dollar plummeted to make it much more affordable... so both Mark and I joined...   (yes we do have spare copies of recent issues if you are interested LOL).

Even with the international postage it seems to work out at about the price of buying 2 issues on ebay, you get 6 issues and I think it's been well worth it.

I wonder how long it will go on for now.

Currently it seems to be going strong, and they haven't done big interviews with some obvious main characters yet like Bernard Hill, David Wenham, Cae Blanchett or Orlando Bloom (and surely many more I haven't thought of)


... but the day a FIGWIT issue comes out - we cancel BOTH our subscriptions!!!

 

Ooh but I have just looked at the back of the last issue and next issue includes an interview with John Howe... I'm looking forward to that, he was greaton Saturday, I saw (from afar) him sketching some amazing things: Gandalf, a small portion of the ring - wow he's great!
