I seem to be posting a lot in this Ebay forum lately Huh  Anway, I bought something from a seller last week, paid with paypal immediately.  I get an email from the seller saying that they don't actually have a paypal account with that email address, that ebay required them to use that email address since it's linked to their ebay account. They asked if I could cancel that payment and send it to a different paypal account.  Is this kosher?  No one has EVER asked me that in 7+ years on ebay. For some reason I'm hesitating, even though it's a small amount of money.  Any advice? Thanks.

It sounds like they have two PayPal accounts, one personal and one business.  If you send money to the business account, they pay fees, but if money goes to the personal account, there are no fees.  My guess is that since it's a small amount, they don't want to pay the fees.

I don't know if you as a buyer can reverse a transaction once money has been sent; otherwise, there could be fraud with people paying for items and then taking the money back once the item has been shipped.  I think the seller has to refund the payment.

If the payment has gone to an address & is not claimed, then you as the buyer CAN cancel the transaction.  If it HAS been claimed, then the seller has to refund it.

I've had this happen to me and I'm always annoyed because I feel it is the SELLER'S responsibility to accurately list their email address with paypal when they list the item...  Your email changes, then change the listing.  It's VERY easy to add an email address to paypal if that's the issue...

I think you may be buying from me. Soft.as.sin, right? If you are, Im really sorry about that. Ebay does indeed make you list with the email you have for the account. Unfortunately for me (and perhaps others), my Paypal email is different. I usually just go back and change it, but once in a while, while listing a ton of things, I miss over one. I have, though, successfully changed my ebay email so it corresponds to my paypal email so this wont happen again. Again, if you are buying from me, Im really sorry about the confusion and doubt. If you have anymore questions, dont hesitate to let me know. Thanks!
