I just needed to vent...

Ebay sent me an alert last night - they reset my password to "protect" my account.  No one ever uses my home computer but me.  Any time I log in on my work computer (which only I use) I log out when I'm done.  No one but me ever uses the email account associated with my ebay account.  I checked out my bid history & my bought history - nothing unusual.  There's NO REASON they had to do that - the only suspicious activity might be that I remain logged in at home when I log in at work.

My computer at home is on dial-up and I have both firewall & antivirus protection - no worms, viruses, or bots on my 'puter (knock on wood).  The work computer is highly protected - nothing's getting by the sys admin.

I just find no rational reason for ebay to do this and I'm very grumpy I was forced to change my password & other account information...

Was the eBay alert actually in your messages inbox on your eBay account?
If it wasn't then you should've ignored it and done nothing as the 'alert' might have been a phishing scam!  Undecided

It was sent via email - with my registered name & was in "My Messages" on the ebay site...

It was DEFINITELY not a spoof...

Phisher's are getting better and better all the time. I would go to ebay and change my password again just to make sure. I don't doubt what you are saying about the message being in your ebay account, but for your piece of mind I would change my password again. I have not heard of ebay asking a member to change there account information, so be very leary. I would contact ebay thru there site and ask for an explaination. Huh                                                                            dave

Every bit of information I did have to change was on ebay's secure site - I kept checking the URL in my browser + I got to it through links ON ebay.  Not once did I click a link in the original (stupidhead) email...

Can y'all tell I'm still peeved about it???
