I have just got my new issue of NSU magazine, well technically it is Boglegs copy but with possession being nine tens of the law I won't worry too much about that.  Anyway they have possible release dates for the new HP sets -

May - World of Harry Potter 3D
June - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
September - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Update

Now we have been here before with far too many sets scheduled to come out in short succession.  Fortunately due to production problems/delays at Artbox, most of the time the actual release dates end up much further apart.  I do worry though that one day Artbox will release the cards when they say they will and then we will all be in trouble.

With the best will in the world and with the most dedicated collectors people just can't afford sets coming out one on top of the other.  I know there is the option of not buying on the release date and picking stuff up months afterwards but this will lead to other problems.  If collectors don't buy then neither will dealers.  If dealers don't buy then Artbox will be in trouble.

Artbox please give a thought to your loyal collectors - we need time to earn the money to buy your cards.  Please, please spread your Harry Potter releases evenly throughout the year so that collectors, dealers and yourselves end up with an enjoyable, profitable hobby.

And i bet everything that OOtP Update won't be released before November 2007.  Roll Eyes

To be honest, as much as it's a cash stretch thing, it's also a 'keeping interest levels up' thing. I don't just collect HP but LOTR and many other releases... and sometimes the temptation to collect other sets is stronger than carrying on with the HP sets Roll Eyes

Thomas you are correct again...the first posting of a new shiny Chamber prop card was listed on Dec 29th so I was really off base by saying that it was 2007....missed it by 2 days..

I honestly can't imagine that Artbox has planned an HP set for September and then that'll be it for the year.  I think they're planning another filler set for November or December.  Otherwise, there's no need to cram three big sets into the space of five months.

Unfortunately, my wallet isn't crammed enough to do justice to all of these sets, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Undecided

nope you are not alone there is no way i could get all the set if they keep those dates there are to many other things close to them such as kids birthdays and school  camps . I really  think that artbox should read here ( as if )  and try and plan better  i think i am luckier than most all i collect these days is Harry Potter .

I won't be partacing in, the filler sets like the 3D etc, but will keep it to the films. I think they are just asking too much of us.

my two cents would be not to worry at all, the update will more than likely come out this year yes, but not untill November/December when the DVD comes out. They would be stupid to release it at any other time...that is when interest in the film will be peaked again.

Bryan I think you absolutely right and the Update won't be out until the end of the year.  My big worry is that one time Artbox will get their releases out on time and then it will be a problem.  I think, hopefully, OotP will come out very close to the film which still means two sets very close together.

The other danger Artbox has is that by announcing dates people gear themselves up to getting cards that month.  When the release date is put back by weeks (or sometimes months) they just figure they will use the money on another set.  I am 'lucky' in that I am only collecting HP at the moment but I know Boggy is terrible for impulse buying if a set is delayed.

Either way nicely spaced out release dates would be far better, in my opinion, than possible dates that either won't be met or can't be afforded.  That said I am really, really looking forward to the 3D set  Grin Grin

I always look forward to new sets...at the same time, there are so many being released now I really haven't a clue how I'm going to manage it.  I don't want to miss out on any of them, but it's crazy to have to try and keep up with these releases...they are too close together.

But who am I to say...I get anxious when the releases are delayed as well and get really fussy when I haven't had a set to open in a long time.  Roll Eyes I guess I'm tough to please.  Roll Eyes

We wouldn't all be so burned out if MM had been held off until after the sets for the seventh movie were released.  With the timing, increased box/case price, and cost of many of the cards, that set killed COS.  People are still trying to recoup.

Now, I don't have a problem with a small 3D set coming out in April (not May -- too close to OOTP), the regular OOTP release in June, and OOTPU in October or November.  I'd prefer two sets per year, but could probably do three if they are properly spaced.  I'm just afraid that Artbox has a fourth set planned before the end of the year. Undecided  Considering that the HBP movie will be released in November 2008, they could produce OOTPU for November and there would be an entire year to do filler sets before releasing the HBP set.

I agree with Roz with all these sets coming out Julie and I have cut back to only 2: Harry Potter and Battlestar Galactica. We told ourselves if the hobby stops being fun to quit and we're almost there, with all these sets coming out it's not fun anymore which stinks Hopping Mad because we love this hobby.

I unfortunatly have way to much myself as well.

1 Case of Spiderman 3
1 Case of Bond
1 Case of Star Wars 30th
1 Case of DC
1 Case of OotP

these are all within 3 months of each other...not to mention, if I get REALLY lucky and pull a Maguire auto in my spidey case, I am going to go for an Auto master set, I plan on putting together the James Bond prop set (if anyone has any early interest in the autos from my case, please let me know, I am only collecting the props). With Star Wars, depending on what the two "mystery" signers are I might be putting together a set of that as well. I think I either need to win the lottery, or have some long lost relative leave me everything for me to be able to afford this horrible horrible habit....it's cardboard crack.
