Auto Ratio's in FOTR Boxes

Can anyone who opened some of these boxes confirm against Topps info what the ratio's of autos are:

What I have seen on ebay
Hobby auto's inserted at 1:24 packs (possible to get 2 in a hobby box)

Retail auto's inserted 1:24 (1 per retail box)

According to Topps the following auto's are in the retail boxes (but only 1:72 packs)

Authentic Autograph cards (Overall Odds 1:72 packs) signed by these cast members: -Orlando Bloom (Legolas)
-Christopher Lee (Saruman)
-Dominic Monaghan (Merry)
-Hugo Weaving (Elrond)

Hobby box auto list:

-Cate Blanchett (Galadriel)
-Billy Boyd (Pippin)
-Sir Ian Holm (Bilbo)
-John Rhys-Davies (Gimli)
-Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf)
-Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn)
-Liv Tyler (Arwen)
-Elijah Wood (Frodo)

The retail autos were 1 per 3 boxes

Thats why they were 1 per 72 packs. The rest of your data is correct though

As for individual card odds, I know there was a site that had all that info - Roz you mentioned it over on the Topps site - it had a pic of the site designer as 'Gandalf the white' and 'Gollum' can't remember the site though

If the retail boxes auto odds are 1 in 3 boxes how come the retail boxes sell for about $350?  I realize the merry is worth big $$$ (in fact one recently sold BIN for $1500) but lets say you bought 3 boxes for $1050 and got 1 auto (chances are most likely Elrond, Legolas or Saruman) you can't even come close to getting your investment back!

I can see a hobby box for $350 if you can get 2 decent auto's it can be worth the $$$ (of course you could flop but that is the risk you take).  But $350 for a retail box?

Since I knew nothing of them when they first came out what were you fortunate few buying the retail and hobby's for when they came out?

Also can I borrow someones time machine so I can buy a few at a reasonable cost!

I guess that is why the retail autos were so in demand (still are I guess). I have never bought boxes as I like to see what I am getting for my money - like you say, imagine forking out $1000 for one auto! But I think the lure of a Merry is why those retail boxes are so pricey. I only have the retail Legolas autograph - would like the Elrond, but there is no way I am paying $400+ for one. As for Merry - dream on I am happy with my TT Merry anyway - if I had $1500, I would invest it in a case of HP update!

ya but the LOTR is still a good investment i think.when the hobbit comes out they will go up in value again and again but if you are going to invest in something make it FOTR or a tt orlando bloom

Hey saruman, have you found your TT legolas yet?

Hope you're right about the auto cards and the Hobbit. I hope they do a set for the Hobbit as well - Gandalf, Bilbo, Thorin, Gloin, Elf King of Mirkwood (that's Legolas' father, right?), Bard and the 3 trolls So many possibilities. Hope Topps does not get it though...

sadly no but i'm still on the look out so if any one has one plz let me know,i am after a FOTR one if i cant get tt (although i have better chances of getting a tt one)
ya a Hobbit set would really be cool and another Gandalf is always good

hobby was 1:24 retail was 1:72

I believe not only because of the merry auto the price of the retail boxes was more due to the fact not as many were made.. least from what I have seen, heard and read, thoughI may be wrong.

You also have to remember hobby 1:24 ( 9 autos) retail 1:72 ( 4 autos)

Orlando Bloom autos by Topps are alway great investment as he signs with complete name, now he signs with OB.  The Hobbit will surely increase the prices of the LOTR auto's.  An official card signed specifically for the release of the movie I think we are talking BIG money in the future, imagine if George Lucas or Harrison Ford signed cards for the Star Wars first film?

Be interesting to see who signs for the Trilogy set due out end of October

It will be interesting but they really do have to pull up their socks! Sala will be better as Saruman but he would have obtained much higher value in the ROTKU set as Saruman!

I hope there are not too many repeats and lots of inspired signers like Wormtongue, Treebeard, sketchcards from Alan Lee ( I think if they were going to do sketchcards we would have heard by now )

But you get my drift - they really need to be innovative
