hi all...just thought I'd start a post where I could let you all see the progress of my Masterpieces NEW returned 6 sketch cards...

Just a quick recap...my original returned six were damaged by UPS when they were shipped back to me way back in October or thereabouts...

...since each card's 'graded' condition was somewhat compromised, Topps offered me the choice of either choosing 6 other cards from the remaining 150...or get 6 new Masterpieces blanks...

I chose the blanks, and, believe it or not...I've just finished the first of my NEW returned 6...just thought I'd share it with you all...

The new version has a bit more light yet remains faithful to the original sketch card...it's an all acrylic painting (with a hit of oil paint here and there) and has a little texture in its surface.

Here it is alongside the original which is signed 06 in white...
...the new version is signed 07 in red...

The remaining 5 should be up soon.

Hope you enjoy...will be putting it up on Ebay for anyone interested later in the week...thanks for being so patient.

Len, the sketch is fantastic!  That one was one of my favorites. Smiley  Are you going to recreate all six sketches or do something different with the other blanks?

I agree with you Cindy - Len did a fantastic job recreating his original and even improved upon it to boot!!   Smiley  I think Len is going to recreate the 6 originals that were damaged in shipment to him Cindy.   Smiley

Hey Cindy...and Ed 'n Rich...first, thanks for the kind words about my 'new and improved' Gandalf at Bags End...hope he gets to a loving home and interesting collection...!

...about the remaining 5...well, I'm not really 100% positive...

I've actually finished the second of the six...and it's NOT one of the original six, but another version of a Masterpieces sketch that was part of the original 150...the first version was all prismacolor marker and pencil with just a hit of acrylic paint...the new version, like the Gandalf, a mini-painting...all acrylic with a hit of oil...just scanned it, so will have an image up soon...it's my wife's favorite of everything so far (she's so easy to please  Smiley).

Then I think I'm going to redo the 'Farewell at Grey Havens' pencil sketch with some white highlights as a color acrylic/oil painting...and...maybe redo the 'Hobbits at Weathertop' pencil...I like the spooky pencil atmosphere, a few people have expressed interest, and it was really one of my favorite images...

...the remaining two are still up in the air...perhaps portraits since I did so few...I have an Aragorn in mind that is quite interesting...an unusual scene that no one's done thus far...I've finished a PSC of the scene in question...but...Huh

One of these days...but thanks for asking and will keep you posted...!
And I'll get images up soon!

But I've been a busy little beaver with my ocd collecting...completed my one sketch card from each artist in Masterpieces a little while back...and just can't hold back on so many other beautiful sketch cards...but...the $$$$... Roll Eyes

Hi Len:

Thanks for explaining what you are doing.  It sounds fantastic!   Smiley  I can't wait to see your scan!   Smiley  You wet my whistle Len with talk of an Aragorn but I know I can't compete against the big spenders that will be attracted to your work!   Tongue  I will be content to wait until you are available to draw me your Aragorn on a commission basis.   Smiley

Hey Ed...when I get a few more PSC's done, I'll post them here and on Scoundrel for all to see...PM me if you're  interested when they go up...there will definitely be some Aragorns in the mix! Shocked
