We've established that everyone on this board must like collecting HP and or LOTR stuff, or at least other sci-fi/fantasy stuff.

But do you have any other unrelated collections that you're really mad about?
I am really into collecting Guinness pin badges (people are suprised at this, cos they associate this with 50 year old men - which I'm not!)
I started collecting these about 4 years ago (before LoTR) and now have about 150 in total. There are loads of different ones out there, some rarer than others, but it is (unbelievably) a lot of fun!

So any fellow guinness pin collectors want to trade, or if you have any you want to sell, let me know!
And of course lets hear about your other 'hidden' obsessions!

Pax, what are you trying to do - get me collecting something else??? My bank account can't cope To answer your question, LOTR and Hp take up enough money as it is. I don't think I will get any more LOTR autos, time to start on HP I think. But if I can find a bargain for a Frodo/Boromir auto, then I will take it up

Hi to a fellow Leggy fan blackcat! Do you have either of Orlando's Topps autographs? I've got both the FOTR and TT, they are great - both nice 'Orlando Bloom' autos, especially now that he is signing 'OB'

I got back into collecting about 3 years ago, I collected baseball cards when I was a kid and most were put in my bike spokes but for .25 a pack no big deal!

I mainly have collected sports cards, mostly hockey! (some baseball, basketball, football and even a little soccer (football for most of you) Manchester United has some nice sets put out by Upper Deck if any of you have seen them and like Man U I would recommend checking them out)  I estimate my sports card collection to be worth maybe $15,000.   Of course that means I have put way more than that into it.  

Then I stumbled upon LOTR cards (when ROTK came out) a little late to get in early pulled my first LOTR from ROTK (theoden) and have completed all the costume sets but the auto's seem out of reach to much $$$.

And I loved the HP cards they were great!  So I am going more movie sets now as they seem to be a better investment of my collecting $'s.  

If anyone else collects sports cards and wants to trade for LOTR's cards let me know.  A long shot but I thought I would try.

I collect Decipher's and Topp's LOTR's sets.  I also collect Spiderman cards and sets.  My other passion has been collecting GamesWorkshop's LOTR's figure's.

A different area of collecting that I have been involved in for many years is that of World War II aviation prints mainly by the great English artist Robert Taylor.  He started painting famous British, German, Japanese, and American aircraft and had Pilots who were Aces who flew these aircraft sign a limited edition print run.  As many of you know we are losing over 1000 men a day from that generation who fought in World War II and many of the world's Aces have passed away since I began collecting these prints back in the early 1980's.  Some of them have become quite valuable on the secondary market at prices in excess of $20,000 dollars.  I have many of these prints framed and they decorate my office and home.  Hopefully, the world will never again see a worldwide war and these prints are a constant reminder to me to help keep it that way.

I have seen alot of these Games Workshop figures around Sydney - I don't really understand the rationale behind them though - are they like a RPG? Is it popular in the States?

LOL Ferdinandthe yak! No, I'm not trying to get you into spending more money!
I was just interested, because my pin badge collection started way before LOTR and HP (but I do also have pin badges from these films too). Then my Guinness badge collection was side-tracked while I got into LOTR. Now LOTR is over, and I cant afford many HP, I will be back on the Guinness pin hunt. But hey, I just love being a geek!

Hi FTY:

There are roleplaying aspects to the GamesWorkshop LOTR's sets but it is more of a war game set in Middle Earth in which you play scenarios from all 3 books.  The battles take place either above ground like the assult on Helm's Deep or Minas Tirith or underground in the Mines of Moria or anywhere else you want them to.  Game stores make the terrain to fight the battles on and some of them rival work done by Weta.  

Each figure represents an individual and is sculpted in great detail and looks just like our heroes and villians in the 3 movies.  A rule book gives you all the detail on weapons, their range, your character's strength, and so on to play the game.  Most people take the time to realistically paint their figures and many that I have seen are of museum quality.  I am more interested in painting the figures and depicting them in scenes from the movies for display in my curio cabinets.  So you have people who play the game, just collect the figures, or people like me who paint and display them.  

GamesWorkshop is doing so well with these figures that they have the license from the Tolkien Estate to do The Hobbit and then The Similarrion - I probably did not spell this correctly as I have not read this book.

Erm then again traditionally I'd say girls don't get crazy about LOTR or inline skate.. but actually this forum has 2 girl skaters and one boy   and I'd say that on this forum we were not particularly out numbered by men on here...

I collect various things, including old Nintendo Game & Watches, DVDs and singing potatoes.

Just won an auction for the UC Legolas knives... shipping is $60 US here - evil :'( But I got them for a pretty good price so I guess that makes up for it. It means I probably won't be getting my PoA update boxes, but I will get individual cards...
