Is it just me or is this just madness tomorrow is the shipping date that artbox gave out and yet I haven't heard from them, I've not been charged for my shipment and I am pretty fed up with it.

Hey,

I'm really getting fed up with this myself, but I thought I would pass along the fact that I just saw a listing on ebay that says "THE STREET RELEASE DATE IS JULY 13, 2007!"  Angry)here is the listing : http://cgi.ebay.com/HARRY-POTTER-THE-ORDER-OF-THE-PHOENIX-CARDS-HOBBY-BOX_W0QQitemZ250136902956QQihZ015QQcategoryZ219QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I had got some as a gift.. but now they will be late if this date is right. I'm not sure why they can't just pick a date and stick with it, but I suppose it doesn't matter in the end because it's not going to stop be from buying I guess.

The only thing I can think of is that the studio might be playing hardball on having certain images seen before the film premieres, and Artbox couldn't talk them out of it. That seems even stranger since there's plenty of cards on the shelves in Germany and Italy already!

It makes a little bit of sense if the knowledge that certain prop cards exist might give something away, but I thought that's what the Update sets were for. It could explain a little bit about why we haven't heard as many details on the set, too. A change in the producer ranks at the film company can sometimes change the access of the card people.

Pretty clearly, the Artbox pattern with this set and when it required payment from distributors followed the pattern of a company that planned to start shipping this week. It would be a shame if the "gang enjoyment" of the cards got overtaken completely by the distraction of Book 7!

Just about all of Artbox's releases are delayed.  The new 24 Season 5 set is now scheduled for mid-July.  It makes me wonder if some of the problems are with the printers in Taiwan or customs here when the cases are shipped to Artbox.  There's been a definite decrease in quality since they stopped using printers in the U.S.  I'm tired of mis-cut and damaged cards.

We don't have official confirmation, but it looks as if the cases won't ship until mid-week next week.

It's possible that it is as simple as Artbox have just bitten off more than they can chew with HP3D and so many sets at once. They are only a very very small company, they might be backed up by a bigger company, but they can't draft in staff from Japan when things get busy.

To me, the first priority should have been getting OOTP out the door ahead of the movie.  The 3D set could have waited until either between OOTP and OOTPU or after OOTPU.

Agreed. The new movie is the big thing, so the cards relating to that are the most important. They really did create a beautiful, quality product with 3D, but OOTP is what is the priority right now.

Agreed also the 3d set is beautiful but many cards are dated now, I mean the reap of Harrys Quiditch costume.
I am also looking forward to my OOTP but feel it will be my last large potter order as I would much prefer the DC Universe set from Rittenhouse or the Starwars 30th set, which I acctually will be collectiong myself.

I think that due to the timing of 3D and OOTP the 3D set wll be discovered by people later on and then it will be quite popular It is just really badly timed. The release date for OOTP is the 16th July and so there is some time to do some saving for people but because we were all waiting for an offical release date for OOTP people do not want to spend on 3d and then find out they could not get the cards they wanted from OOTP

Latest (possibly conflicting) word:

Quote
As you know, Artbox Entertainment will be shipping “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” trading cards and binders. This product will have a RELEASE DATE OF JULY 13TH . If you have any questions please call.
Thank you!

If it's tied to the movie's release, they didn't take into account that the USA premiere was moved from July 13 to July 11. I've had enough "decisions" to make because of my need to be out of town  that week!

The timing could have been even worse for the larger card community, but the releases for Buffy 10th Anniversary and Star Wars 30th Anniversary have slipped to July 18 and July 31, respectively.

Hooray for Potter.
Teenage boy waving a wand, teenage girl with continuing bad hair days, old guy with a beard giving advice, short big-nosed character using magic to protect teenage boy hero. So what's the difference?  Grin

Are you saying that SW has been changed to a release date of July 31? Where did you get that info? I haven't heard that anything had changed. I wish companies would pick a date and stick to it!! *sigh*  Roll Eyes

Oops, maybe it's a "never mind". Potomac had the release date for the *retail* set at July 31. They must have sold out for the hobby distribution.

So that helps to underline the point I tried to make until I got confused ... that OOTP is competing directly for attention with SW 30th.
