That sounds fun Dawn, I'll take a peek. There's another member on the forum (who I won't name  , but they can step up if they'd like) who has entered that competition. Statistically we now have a 1 in 543 chance of having a Yak winner... but I'd say it's more than that |

Of course, if i don't win i would be only too pleased to share, let the world see my story, that sort of thing!
I'm also currently plotting a 'Who-less' novel (sci-fi/horror) amongst the 55 milion other things systematically taking over my life. Still in the early stages of development at the moment but it's tremendous fun gathering all of the information and drawing up my characters. And it's a good excuse for a weekend away!
"What's that dear? Where am i going? It's a research trip for my book..."
I'm sure you all get the picture!

Yup, I didn't know how shy you were Alec Now, didn't an author just win a prize for a book set in Canada when she'd never been to Canada? (Just to the British Library to read up on Canada?)... I'm quite 'lucky' as i spend my weekdays at home looking after the kids and doing the housework, so when the weekend comes i get to do my own thing most of the time. Most of the research is for 'locations' or suitable settings- i tend to set most of my stuff down in devon, partly because i spent most of my younger years down there and know it well and partly so that i can get to see my beloved Argyle play!! And it's quite a nice drive from where i am at the moment which helps to 'loosen my mind' and relax me. I don't know about anyone else but i need to be on my own when i write- i don't deal well with distractions, i either get really cheesed off or end up doing something other than what i was supposed to be concentrating on  I tend to go armed with a bottle of Southern Comfort too! Being on my own in a hotel room with a PC and a glass of falling down juice with some music on is my idea of heaven. A slice of fried gold  |

The only time I've ever made it to that end of the country was for the D of E award on Dartmoor... that really wasn't very relaxing at all... and by the end of the week even my blisters had blisters (I wore nothing but slippers on my feet for a couple of days after that  ). Well, it was mentally very calming (which I suppose is what you writing folk are after) whilst my body was not relaxed at all I had a fab time though, and Dartmoor is beautiful |

I haven't heard anything yet, but judging by a thread on the Doctor Who Outpost Gallifrey forum they have had over 1,000 entries so i'm assuming that will take some proof reading!! I would expect it to be early April at least.
I'm taking the approach of trying not to think too much about it! If i don't hear anything that's just one of those things, if i do then great!

Well I emailed them today to see if they have decided today. Here's what they said;
"Thanks for the mail. Still considering, I'm afraid. We're just over halfway through reading everything. At this rate, we hope to have a winner by the end of May. Ish. Maybe..."
