Gimli & Denethor! Now that would be worth going to see anywhere and throw in Weta - looks to be an outstanding time. Are you going blackcat? If you do please post your thoughts of what you see and any photos you can take of the event here for all of us to enjoy. Thanks. Bye the way, welcome to The Forum! FTY is not going! Say it isn't so!

Hello there, PLEASE NOTE BOBW 23 - LOTR HAS NOT, AND WILL NOT, BE CANCELLED First of all we have moved our Nov. event & future events to another venue. As soon as all details have been worked out we shall give you all the information. If you have booked accommodation you may wish to cancel it & re-book at the new venue. We will be using a venue here in Canberra, so do not panic. BOBW 23 IS definitely ON!!!! Now a bit of general information: As Brian likes to say "This is getting bigger than Ben Hur!" Our convention is now over 4 days: Day 1 Thursday Nov. 18th there will be 2 workshops - 1 morning & 1 in the afternoon, one workshop will be by John Howe - details will follow soon-, and the other one will be a theatrical combat workshop run by Brett Beattie & another stunt man. Day 2 Friday Nov. 19th there will be 2 more workshops : 1 run by Ben Wootten and the second by Daniel Falconer, both are WETA Workshops senior designers. Each day of workshops is AUD$175.00 per person per day, that includes a great BBQ lunch. Day 2 Friday pm is the cocktail party , cost is AUD$65.00 per person Day 3 Saturday is the first day of the convention, all the guests will be there, each guest will make a stage presentation & will be available for professional photographs ( this is only available to Lat. & VIP place holders refer info pack) & autographs ( for Lat., VIP or Gold place holders, refer info pack). Saturday night is the banquet cost is AUD$85.00 pp. Day 4 Sunday is similar to Sat, after the closing there will be a wrap party - cost of the wrap party is AUD$65.00 pp. It gets better, I have just been talking with Brett Beattie, who told me that he has a special treat in store for our event, a 26 minutes film titled "Trolley Boy" shot by Tim McLachlan ( I do hope I've spelt that right !) and starring as well as himself most of the stunt team from LOTR!!!!! It is going to be such fun. A brief run down on ticket levels is: VIP ticket - $280.00 per person per day Premium seating (rows 3-7 where applicable) Opportunity to have photograph taken with a guest (NB: cost of photographs is extra, NOT included in the ticket price) Opportunity for autographs (NB: cost of autographs is extra, NOTincluded in the ticket price) Gold Ticket - $230.00 per person per day Good seating (rows 8-12 where applicable) Opportunity for autographs (NB: cost of autographs is extra, NOTincluded in the ticket price) Basic Ticket - $165.00 per person per day Standard seating No photographs No autographs Adele
found this hope it helps any lotr fans who lives in the eastern states

It's true, I cannot go as I have a very busy schedule at the moment and it would involve me taking plane trips to and from Melbourne :'( I have JRD's auto already anyways (Thanks Roz ) but I would be tempted to give JOhn Noble a photo that he could sign properly not out of the ring as he liked to do in ROTK. Yet to see any auto by him that is actually in the ring btw What is this event you are talking about mcgonagall? HOpe it is not the LOTR exhibition that savage is going to soon...

Thats why I cant possibly miss one if its being held in Melbourne-It doesnt happen very often...I know they have BOBW in Canberra occasionally, and its not too far away, but who's got the spare time + the one in Melbourne looks like its going to be a bit cheaper....
Glad you like the avatar-thought it was about time I got around to putting one on (go leggy!)

Good news for those living in Sydney. According to my source ( ), there is going to be a LOTR convention there in September. Don't know anymore details as yet, but if I hear anything I'll post about it.

Are you sure its not the LOTR exhibition? The one that is travelling round the world? Apparently that is scheduled for December-Jan in Sydney. Could you LMK if you find out anything about it if not as I live in Sydney - wooo!

I've heard about the exhibition-I'm hoping to travel up for that. I'll see if I can find out any more details about Sydney, and let you know.

Thanks for putting that link up-glad I wasn't getting people excited for no reason. $80 is pretty good, considering to go to BOBW you need to pay over $200 to be eligible to get autos... Though I think my mum feels its a bit pricey, but she is coming with me anyway...

That's what I like - worldwide coverage of LOTR's events!! It is late here as I have been staying up watching metors from the Persaid Metor Showers that are going on until the peak Wednesday evening. I have seen 3 metors and 7 satellites in the past 15 minutes. It is nice not having any light pollution. I can see the Milky Way Galaxy clear as a bell and the moon is starting to rise up blood red on the horizon!
