Ok folks:

I posted a question like this over on The Scoundrel Forum so let's see what our Yak Shackers think!   Smiley  With the success of both Evolution and Masterpieces I think Topps will "sail again" as we say!   Wink  Tell us what you think and if you want another LOTR's Sketch Card set.

I reckon Topps will commission another LOTR sketch set, but - they will HAVE to put some outstanding cards in this set to top those we've already seen if they want the same level of sales as the previous two sets.  Undecided
I stuck with the Evo set and didn't buy any of Masterpieces set, so I reserve judgment on whether I'd buy any other LOTR sketch cards in the future or not.  Wink

TO be hontest, I really want another Star Wars sketch card set.

Seriously, with all the new artists Topps brought on for this and evolution, there are so many sketches I can just picture in my head that i would HAVE to have.

Ok lol, sorry for going on about Star Wars in a LOTR thread.

That's ok Bryan, I would not mind seeing another Star Wars Sketch Set either as I missed out on all the previous ones!   Tongue

Hmm... I would be interested, but not for a while. I need time to collect what I still want from this and Evo and if they released a set in April, I wouldn't be jumping on the bandwagon... but I'm definitely up for the idea sometime in the future.

... but I think there's time for a Star Wars one first Smiley

As far as LOTR is concerned, what would be drawn that would be different? Look at Evolution vs. Masterpieces and the quality of the sketches is the only thing that's changed (for the better).

I agree with you Bogleg that the quality of the sketch cards in Masterpieces is superior overall to those of Evolution and what I also love about Masterpieces over Evolution is the placement of the Topps Logo.
As you recall in Evolution it was 99% of the time in the forehead of a character drawn and it also had those twisty lines on the sides which I never cared for.  The placement in Masterpieces is far superior meaning a better area to draw whatever the Artist wanted and it also did not have those border lines to get in the way.   Smiley

As far as future LOTR's Sketch Card sets I have heard talk of an all color sketch card set on another Forum and most people are against that from Artists to regukar folks as they want the range of pencil, ink, and color in sketch cards.  Who knows what Topps is thinking to do next?   Huh

When has any card manufacturer not done a card set to death?  They get a popular license then keep going and going and going...

As a collector...I would love another set...but not just yet...Evolution came out in March ?...and then Masterpieces in late October...that's just over 6 months, and I'll venture most mad dog crazy collectors like me are just plum broke!...especially with Christmas, holiday traveling, etc....as of 1:06AM 12/23/06 New York time, my Paypal account is currently $1.03...whew!  Time to sell my returned 6...and then some because there are so many great cards going off this week as everyone (it seems) is starting to unload some sketch cards in order to get some $$$ back! So...yes, I'd love to collect more...but maybe sometime in 2008...give it a full year wait minimum before another LOTR venture begins!

As an artist...I would LOVE to be part of another LOTR set...there are SOOOOO many images I'd like to still do that haven't been touched upon, or could use another artist's viewpoint or style to make that 'vision' just a little different.

As far as a STAR WARS set...c'mon...this monster seems the one real possibility in the months ahead...and I would really love to be a part of the STAR WARS family of sketch card artists IF an anniversary sketch card set was initiated...getting to work off of 6 epic films from the George Lucas empire would be like heaven!...and the good vs. evil theme, heroic 'little guy' vs. EMPIRE, etc. is all part of the Joseph Campbell/Tolkien Masters of Myth Genre that seeks heroic nobility for the spirit of all humankind...and with such breathtaking imagery to work from, being able to do artwork from those great films would be a labor of love and genuine respect...so if you're listening Topps...please add me to your list...call!

Hope everyone has a rewarding, spiritual and safe Christmas/Holiday/etc...and Happy New Year's too!!!  Praying Wink

I really enjoy any sketch product so am biased, I would love another LOTR but not for at least a year. I really like the sound of another Star Wars sketch set encompassing the complete Saga and produced to the same level of sketches as the LOTR products.

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.

I voted yes but I'm not really bothered because if they make another set, I don't have to buy it if I'm tired of LOTR.
As I see it, they'll keep putting out sets for this (or any other) license until the product stops selling.  It's only when the sales slow down that they'll consider a break or letting the license lapse.

At the moment, LOTR keeps selling out so there's little chance of Topps stopping.

I voted yes for another LOTR set as an artist though I hope its not for a while.  I'm enjoying my time on Doctor Who, Avengers and Oz as different creative outlets.

I can only hope that I will be invited to such a Star Wars set IF its in the works.  But if I'm not, I guess what can you do!
