All kidding aside I thought that having a piece of the original Sirius letter prop was really a neat thing to have ...but after I'd seen the almost exact same swatch again this has got me wondering how "Original" the swatches are?Huh? Attached is the Original Tom Riddle's Diary for sale.......Now how can that be as I have a piece of it on my swatch.... Artbox says so.....this is the whole book.........so who's book do I have Frank Riddle's HuhHuhHuh

I think there are at least 5 of each prop and all are original. A movie needs more than one of every prop, we all know that. So they all can be original.  Roll Eyes

According to the auction this was used in one specific section of the movie only:

"HARRY POTTER Chamber of Secrets Tom Riddle FX Diary

Authentic
Tom Marvolo Riddle
Special Effect Diary

This is the exact hero prop used the moment Harry defeats Voldemort. Note the Basilisk Fang hole in the cover"

Oh right this book would have been a special fx book that could bleed.....the others were just books.....so why would they need 5 Letters from Sirius then since we all know that HuhHuh
Maybe the owl kept eating the other 4 HuhHuhHuh

A year or two ago, I saw two eBay auctions for Riddle diaries.  One was similar to the one in Mo's link and the other had hoses attached that were used for when the book bleeds.

there are always multiple props created for filming. In the case of the diary, I would image there are 3 or 4 of them, including the one FX one that bled. With paper props (like the letter) I would imagine they make a couple also as something so small could be easily lost or damaged.

It is just how movies are done. For an example, I own the dress that Juliette Lewis wore in the film The Way of the Gun. I know for a fact that there are a total of 6 of these exact dresses that were used in filming, the company I purchased mine from had all 6. You just HAVE to have copies of everything. I didn't even mention some shady crew members that might steal something like that knowing they will get big $ for it somewhere.

I don't have a problem with duplicate costumes and props, but it makes me wonder how many of them were actually used in the movies.
