But I hope he's right this time, it's not nice to have rumours like this going around if they aren't true but seriously - a peartree in a pack?

LOL perhaps Lurtz will have to buy this one since he said he only wanted to collect a master set of what was pack pulled

It's all highly suspicious Why does one photo have the number blocked out with silver and another shot of the card in a toploader have the number blurred out with photoshop?

I live a few miles from this store near San Diego, CA.  He is a reputable shop and always has the cheepest pack prices around.  He is also the only shop in the area that does trades.

Now that said, he told me a customer pulled this card from a pack when the product first hit the shelves and no one knew what the value was.  He gave the guy $65 USD for it.  This guy is not computer savey and it was a while before he knew what its value was.  He did take it to Comic-con and verified it was real with Artbox who wanted to buy it back.  I understand there is a high reserve.  Mike, the owner, claimes to have had a e-mail bid of $3,000 from a guy in India.  End of story.

Mike has told me that in the past, employees of Upper Deck will try to sell him cards they have stolen from work (Upper Deck is also in town).  His policy has been to deal with only people he knows.  This could have been stolen from Artbox (or printer) by an employee, who knows.  I do believe Mike has no knowledge of this if it is the case.

Kinda a mute point as the auction is over and the reserve was not met.

Yeah, there is no doubt that it didn't meet it's potential price because of the rumours that have been going around the net about it!
