Anyway;

I have often wondered this, as some of the inventions he drew were so advanced, what I am saying is what if he somehow saw these things and tried to recreate them. The history channel has got a programe about his inventions (I doubt they will be stupid enough to ask my question)

I'd love to write a story about him time travelling but my knowledge of his period is rubbish, and the current De vinci band wagon is somewhat overflowing.

Just as I'd love to meet Tolkien or take Peter Jackson to show Tolkien his films

BUT, I guess we are just too jealous to admit that the men who have taken science forward (Darwin, Gallileo, Newton etc) were just geniuses. It's so long ago now that we've all forgotten what they actually went through to get their books published or their ideas believed. In the Earth Sciences Dept at my Uni there's a display about Darwin by the library, and it includes a first edition of the Origin of species, and next to that there is a letter from his ex-tutor from the department. His supervisor criticises him of 'jumping to conclusions', and generally says how disappointed he is in Darwin's work (which must have hurt Darwin), but the truth is that he took a leap of faith, and I agree that the Origin of Species was a very broad look at the concept of evolution which has later been greatly refined, but SOMEONE had to take that leap of faith, no matter how they were criticised?

So leap of faith (and lots of sneering from their peers) or time travel? I know which is more interesting but I also know what's more likely!
