Be VERY weary of this type of auction!!

Some of you here, like myself, visit many other forums about our favorite cards. One popular item of discussion on another one of these card forums is about a gaurantee auto pack in which the seller will guarantee an auto, prop, costume card, ect. Well I can tell you with certainty that 99.9% of these auctions will be right. There IS a way to be virtually certain that these card/cards are in a pack (yes EVEN an auto card). Please don't ask how this is done since, as in the auction above, by knowing which is the "hot pack" and sharing the information can lead to unethical auctions and/or practices like possibly the one above and those I've seen in the past! To be honest with you I believe even selling a "hot" pack can be used unethically as well...

Mr./Mrs. Jones owns a card/hobby shop cherry picks the hot pack, sells the hot pack on ebay or opens it and sells the card on ebay or in his/her own store while other patrons will continue to buy packs from the "useless" cherry picked boxes.

I believe this auction may very much be the average joe trying to get rid of some packs but not likely...even if he gives you a prop or auto card it's a "common" one I'm sure!

Here is a couple of things to think about. Like I said before there is a way to KNOW there is an auto in the pack but he can't know what it is without opening it! The odds are against it being a Peter Jackson auto (one in a couple THOUSAND packs) so he doesn't open it but just sells it on ebay for around $200.00 (what he wants to get I should say since he has a reserve and a buy it now price of $200.00) Which in any way you think about it is SMART for the average joe to do!!

The only reason why auctions like this bug me is because anyone can see from his auctions (see his other items for sale) he owns some type of business to be able to sell this many packs of gaurantee hot packs....where do the other packs go? Huh

? In case you missed it goes to ignorant customers either on his store or on ebay (like the first link)

I know this may seem like I'm babbling but I've never said anything about this before because I'm afraid of getting hammered with questions of how to do it instead of seeing my point of why to be careful about certain auctions....
