First MM card - the SDCC Trophy card - but will it be the same design?

I counted 33 shields on the front of this trophy. Am I wrong?

I count 33 shields, too.  Artbox made 31 cards.  There are six auctions, with only one completed so far.

There are four hours left and the lucky seller has a nice bidding war going on.

Oh, yes, lucky seller. It's one of the 2 nicest cards yet, that's true, but no, that's too much money. The card(s) won't keep this value.

Just saw the second auction ...wow............surely the second card auction went way too high...that's over double the money that I paid....for what ?? a sticker on it instead of being blank ...even the next auction has reached over a grand and it still has 7 hrs before it ends

When it comes to the HP rare cards there are certain collectors on  that usually win the first auctions......we have all been victims to some of them being out bid at their "take no prisoners" bidding
the 2 that come to mind is Fantale7 and Madcroc...even they are getting outbid which is quite suprising...I'm sure Madcroc really is mad right now....look for these 2 in the next few auctions..it should be fun to watch

Well, you can wish me luck on and on, but if there are bidders who are paying moon prices for more than one card, i will never win one of these cards. I don't like what i saw now, again the same buyer.  I don't think, it's a collector. But why does the buyer pay more than the card will be sold for later? I never saw something like that before. But i know for sure, i won't pay so much money. I have to wait until the crazy people are gone. The Whomping Willow started with $1500 too. Everyone knows where it ended. Okay, this one won't drop so far. But it will drop a lot.

Well Thomas the good news is that there is already 2 more to bid on, making 8 auctions in total so far..the bad news is that they are already over $500 with 6 days to go on both..

Still can't figure out the last 2 auctions with the same buyer scooping up both at extreme prices unless he has preorders and clients with really deep pockets....Mo

I think this is ridiculous!!  These cards were $200 at CC!!!! It makes me sick!!

Unfortunately, it's what the market will bear.  Eventually, the people who are taking part in the bidding wars will have the cards they want and then prices should become reasonable.  Mo's card is looking like an absolute bargain right now.

I wonder if Artbox would have been able to sell the cards if they charged $500 for each?

Yeah but you have to remember, it really does not matter what you can pick up a card for.

There were only 31 available, at only 6 a day. Think of:
A) All the people AT comic con who could not get one
and
B) All the people who were not even at comic con and had no clue of this until it hit Ebay.

I KNEW these cards would be this way and I would have LOVED to get my hands on one, but the first 2 days the dealers got them before I could get there, and when they FINALLY made it so they would not sell them until 1PM on Sat and Sun, well, there were 6 people waiting in line from when the doors opened to get them, they sat around for 3 hours just to get one.

Artbox exclusives they put out there will ALWAYS be worth a good deal of money. Even the Tie sets are selling for almost 2x their value and there were 200 of them.

Some collectors just HAVE to have everything, no matter the price...look at a fellow Shacker...Reidelmundo (I think is the name) he has 10% of the Kayanan sketches from LOTR Evolution...imagine what he spent on all of those, but he loves them and that is his thing.

I expect these cards will ALWAYS be very valuable cards, truthfully, the one that sold for $600 something without the sticker is going to be cheapest I think you will ever see on Ebay.

All I know, is that (and I should have learned last year) I am saving up all year and bringing as much $ with me to give to Artbox next year, because it really is worth it. I do not think I posted this anywhere but they did GOFU Master Set auctions each day, (this includes ALL 4 wand cards) and 3 of the 4 days they sold for under $2000.00. The one day I WAS actually there to bid on it last second it went to $3500 and even then it is WELL worth it.

And you know kbmum...I truthfully think they still would have been sold out before I could get there everyday. I think they could have sold them for even more than that and people would have bought them...there are only 31, and they are nice looking cards. And I think if they would have sold for $500 the Ebay prices would be even higher...just my opinion

Well, i still don't think so. They will lose their value like every card yet. The next 3-5 cards will sell well too (but mostly below $1000), but then the price will drop. $500-$600 is a what i can imagine. There were 5 high bidders yet and the point will come when they got their card. Ok., i wish they only want one card, it wasn't the fact yet.  But compare the Trophy to the prices of the GOFU Wand Incentives or the Train ticket which startet with more than $1600. You wouldn't get the half today in an auction and the last Krum wand sold for $500 although it was the 3rd on ebay if i remember right. There aren't too many people in the world who are willing to pay more than $500 for a Potter prop card, maybe 10 people. It's likely that at least 20 of the cards will appear on ebay, the dealers got them all like you told us. There's no market for so many cards with a extremely high value about $1000. The value of a card is what you are able to get when selling it months after the release. And this won't be $700 in my opinion, it will be less.

Well I agree some what that everyone is on almost the same page as this,,,,I fully agree that the cards are right now selling for way too much money..that card that I got really I was just fooling around and put in a bid at the last minute at $700 thinking for sure no way in hell I would win it..you saw my first posts joking with Jon about this..I was in shock when I checked the status !!!!...I think Thomas your a little under estimating the number of people that would be willing to part with $500 for a card..it must be way more than 10...just count the Quad card and how many Ebay auctions there where and also factor all the private deals that other dealers were selling to their clients, with master sets...including you.
As for the number of trophy cards that you say will approx. come up on ebay I say is a little high...there was only 25 available through the whole convention...Artbox kept 6 what they are doing with them I haven't a clue, I thought the were going to Tomunique in NY but he says no way...but I do agree with what you say.....if more Trophy cards get posted on Ebay the prices have to come down after all the serious collectors get their fill the only problem is a buyer buying more than one card.... that's bad news for the next person gettting the card at a half decent price...the demand that way will always stay higher than the supply

No, no, Autographs are going well if we see, that there are about 100 from the rare cards. I said prop card and that's different. Wands lim. to 28 are sold for $500, Coins lim. to 40 don't reach the 400 and so on, the ticket dropped. There are not too many buyers for expensive props.

First i thought there would be less than 20, but now.  It seems that they all went to dealers. I still can imagine 20 on ebay.

Well prop cards in general yes that have dropped as have almost every other Potter, not that long ago a Quad sold for $1400 now you can get them for 1/2 that.....but remember there'll always be the exceptions to the rule...how many $400 Pear Tree cards have you seen lately..where has the value gone on that???
There has only been 2 Potter/28 wands on Ebay ......what really is the value? Has it dropped
There are allot of people that save just the actual set..commons/costume/autos/props to the actual cards that can be pulled from packs there has always been a hidden argument where these promos/incentives/ or special released for shows like SDCC and even the NY Toyfair belong in the scheme of things..hell even the sell sheets some people in here think that without them the set is not complete
I already realize that in the big picture that I will never get back the money that I paid out for all these sets..some cards yes I could make a profit but all in all it would be a loss and a big loss at that when you figure all the shipping charges for all the cards that we have purchased from everyone
I still love the chase of getting the cards and the opening of packs.....to save these things for value is a loosing cause

I think what happened and I think everyone agrees is that there is simply TOO MUCH Potter out there. I understand that it makes since to do a set for each film, but then there are updates and now memorable moments and I guarantee there will be 2 or more sets produced that do not tie in directly to one film.

It seems to happen with all of the big films. LOTR was the same way, the autographs were HOT when they first came out, I remember buying a case and opening it with my dad and flipping out that I got a Frodo autograph that I could resell at the time and get back almost all of my money for the case...now a Frodo autograph sells for around $100.

I just wish some companies would come out with some more original product and not so much of the same. I love Potter, I love LOTR but give me something new already. There are so many films that come out that would make for such great card sets and we never really see anything. Take Pirates...all we have is a crappy Medallionz set. I just wish film companies would open their eyes and see that there are some great licences out there and some great products that could be made.

That said, if there were any Potter prop/costume/auto cards I COULD get my hands on, I would want the Champion wands. Each of them is something easily recongizable. What I am really sick of is Artbox using all of these props that are nothing but background decoration. I mean, as cool as the Chudley poster prop card is, do you even see that in the film without pausing and saying oh yeah! there it is. Even the trophy is nothing but a background piece.

I think the best Potter set so far (in my opinion) was the Sorcerers Stone set. The prop cards were so awesome for that! All of the Letters and Envelope cards are things that anything who has seen the film would easily recongize. Not to mention an actual piece of the Sorcerers stone itself. The costumes were all pretty nice (it is amazing that I was able to get a Potter costume that was not a robe) and the autographs, although there were no "big money" autographs, were all pretty swell (well other than another Warwick Davies...oh wait...make that two)

I just wish Artbox would put out something really really good, it seems like with the past couple sets, only one insert group is turning out to be really great. In GOFU the autographs were great, but the Costumes were mostly material used in the making of, and the props were nothing all to great either. In GOF I think the Costumes were pretty good but the props and the autographs were lacking...

Alright, lol, sorry for the ramble, I will stop now, and the sad thing is, even with all my gripes against Artbox I will still more than likely buy cases upon cases of whatever Potter product they put out...actually, that said...anyone have a Memorable Moments case for sale

Spot on Byran..gotten rather tired of UPDATE sets.......could have taken the best GOF and the best of GOFU & had a really killer set...and have saved us a good wad of coin.......thank God there won't be an update COS

Yeah, but I am worried...they had a LOT of COS prop and costumes at Comic Con...I would assume by now they would have to ship off what is going into the set to be actually put into the cards? Or is that process not as long as I imagine it is? I mean there was A LOT of COS stuff....
