I just stumbled on this in my meanderings of t'internet today!  Pinky and the Brain Vol.1 on DVD! I SO hope this makes it over the pond.  We always miss out on this kinda thing.  |

Just buy it from the States and use a multi-region DVD player. Sure, by no means crack your best Denon DVD player, but something cheap will do the trick nicely  |

Yeah I prob. will but it really grinds my gears that we have to get things shipped half way round the world When these international companies have everything here head offices, advertising depts. warehouses the lot! Kiefer Sutherland recently said '24 didn't do well in america it was only because it took off in the UK, That they made a second season' Have they still not realised yet that Britain pays such high prices for everything, that if it takes off over here it must be top notch entertainment! Sorry I'll shut up now and retire quietly to the study with my service revolver  |

You are quite right... whilst I'm switching from glorious low fat spreadable Anchor butter (aka New Zealand butter... with green green grass etc etc) to Country Life (you'll never 'ave a better bit of butter on yer knife - ensure to do this in a broad west-country accent!) in order to cut down on needless 'food miles'... no one ever mentions DVD miles  Kiefer Sutherland recently said '24 didn't do well in america it was only because it took off in the UK, That they made a second season'
This is true (someone else watched Friday night with Jonathon Ross ) - to be fair we often get the series first on DVD when it comes out - much to HPFamily/Jackie's indignation |

True I shouldn't complain Specially in october when we get Green Wing series 2 on DVD!!  and I don't think they've even gotten series 1 yet (unless they're trying to write an american version that just wont take off) |

How did I know Sharon would be drawn to this thread  Actually I am rather peeved, there is a BBC costume Drama called 'He knew he was right' which you can only get in region one! I don't have a mulitregion player and cant be bothered to get one. But I don't see why we cant have it espically as we funded it |

My gripe about DVD's of UK programs being released in the US is that they Americanise the film. I am not sure how to explaining this but the quality of the film is different on UK to TV to US TV. When AB Fab was first released as a complete series (before they did all the extra episodes that were just not funny but that is another gripe) I got the US box set. It had been transferred to American film and somehow that made it lose all of it's charm. The same would happen if they made Friends look like a UK TV series, it just doesn't work. On the other hand Pinky and the Brain will look good in any format and I recommend that everyone buys a copy to enable our brave duo to take over the (DVD) World So true, maybe we can offset the next licence increase, by charging the US aswell! Speaking of increases have you all had your new Sky sub letter |

BBC America? We do! I was in the Netherlands where they get BBC1 and BBC2 (plain, not the BBC Worldwide service) all as part of their £6 per month sky package (along with the National Geographic Channel, The Discovery Channel and a tonne of other interesting stuff)... now remind yourself how much we pay per month for BB1 and BBC2 alone (if you don't have freeview) and suddenly you want to go and slap the people at the BBC ad campaign section who witter on about "the unique way the BBC is funded" . |

The only unique thing about how they are funded is that only us Brits would be gullible enough to put up with it . They produce some amazing programs but boy do we pay dearly for them. But back on topic - BUY THE DVD!!! I don't want to give the distributor any excuse not to release all of the episodes . Go on, buy the DVD, you know you want to really  |
