What do you guys make of this.  I recently sold 3 boxes of the update set of POA to a guy on ebay, and I just got this email from him.  (this is the first email I have received from him other than the payment:

"I just want to let you know that I received the boxes and in the past I have opened over 20 to 30 boxes of the update and always received an autograph and another item. Your boxes did not have an autograph at all and bad pieces. One of the boxes did not even have a seal. I took pictures of the boxes and will be sending them to EBAY and the Better Business Bureau. I am doing this for my protection as a consumer. I also am an officer for a Sheriff's Office and I am going to have our detectives check it out. They have done EBAY investigations for me in the past. I hope I am wrong because Fraud is very serious. Again, I am doing this for my protection as a consumer. I don't like wasting money. Thank you. "


So he is claiming that out of the 20 - 30 boxes he has opened he has always got an autograph, and another card.  Am I missing something, because I opened about 40 cases of this stuff, and some cases didn't even have an autograph.  And I don't know if he is talking about the little grey sticker on the box.  I know I had a few boxes that were missing that, but they werre always still sealed.  Some people just can't handle opening a few bad boxes.  And I seriously question him getting an autograph in every box.  Any suggestions on how I should proceed?

He seems...well, a bit whacked out. Out of the 15 individual boxes of PoAU, I think I pulled three or four autos, and that was really lucky, as I know some people who, like you said, opened whole cases without an auto. I think who ever this guy is, is just pissed he didn't get a decent pull out of his boxes, and is being a baby about, trying to find blame with the seller rather then just acknowledging that, hey, with these boxes, thems the breaks.

Yeah and he can't remember if it was 20  or 30 boxes. I know exaclty how many I opened because I logged every box.

 He says, "Your boxes did not have an autograph at all and bad pieces."  So he's complaining to you that he's not happy with the pulls?  As in maybe he got a couple of Lupin jackets and it's all your fault?  I wouldn't even bother to reply.  If he wants to have his buddies (yeah right) investigate you, let them go ahead.  You haven't done anything wrong, he's just a crybaby.  And honestly, I don't think detectives have time to waste checking out ebay sellers.

Or, you could tell the buyer that you're sorry he isn't happy with his pulls, but the boxes were sealed and you can't control or guarantee what inserts are packed inside the boxes.  You may need to respond to him anyway, especially if he files a claim with PayPal.  Maybe you could suggest he contact Artbox with his complaints.  If they reply, they'll tell him basically the same thing.

I think I am just frustrated that someone would jump to that extreme right off the bat.  I mean seriously, email me with your concerns and we can go from there, but to just go crazy like that.  Maybe if I sold him a triple autograph that I printed in my backyard (really close to having that perfected by the way, so if anyone needs a cheap triple let me know .  but this is just assinine.

I would watch out maybe Lt. Frank Drebin is on the case.  This guy is an idiot.  I would tell him you look forward to the results of his investigation.  In fact I would ask him to give you the name and phone # of the detective(s) investigating the case so you can make a statement.  

This guy is a nut.  I think you could get plenty of people who can safely say from there experience that every box does not have 2 things, let alone all of them that have NOTHING.  I opened 2 cases that had 0 ZERO ZIP NADA autos.  Also I am sure Artbox could state some boxes didn't have anything and the product only averaged 2 autos a case.

There were a lot of dud boxes.  This guy sounds like a bully.  He's expecting you to be so afraid of his job and "connections" that you'll offer him a refund.

Point him to this forum - I know of people who complained to sellers about PoA (not PoAU) dud boxes and had to be sent here.

I personally opened about 60 boxes, not many by your standards Zach but got a case with no autos at all and a case with one.

Not much to say really. I agree with what everyone has said. Like Roz says, send him a link here and get him to trawl through the pages of PoAU complaints. Personally, I don't think he thinks that it was your fault at all, but he wants to blame his bad luck on someone and you are more easy to intimidate than Artbox. I had crappy pulls from my PoAU boxes as well, but you don't see me joining a lynch mob. Take the good with the bad. I pulled a great chocolate frog variant in the SS set.

We know the boxes weren't tampered with, but he couldn't prove it anyway because he opened the boxes.  And really, how do we truly know what he pulled?

  some people get on the internet and their personality completely changes because they're "invisible" and not face to face with someone  and all of a sudden they can be a brash or as bombastic  as they want  --- become  someone they really are'nt ....
  I bet this guy is just upset he did'n pull a great card and is trying to act all macho and starts spouting threats hoping you'll be intimidated ...

I like this idea. I bought 3 boxes of POA Update - got 2 of the same Divination Class prop, a Harry Quidditch costume, & a film card.  All the inserts were the same from all 3 boxes from 2 different sellers.  I wasn't happy, but I would NEVER have complained to the seller about what I pulled.  It's the luck of the draw...

This is absolutely true! I cannot begin to tell you the things people say to me (as RA's customer service person) that just don't make any logical sense - They threaten, curse, assail - all sorts of things and it leaves you thinking the only rational explantion is that they are "invisible" - you will likely never see them, so they feel free to say any old thing. I wish people would remember that there is always another person on the other end. eBay sellers and buyers, collector, dealers, whoever it is - please remember, we're not mindless automatons.

Never a truer word said by Sketchqueen!!!,people on the internet especially seem to loose all their inhibitions and can become as shown in this case a complete bureaucratic sh*t!!. I will be honest as most already know am knew to this hobby but none the less fully except and understand like the majority that this hobby when buying boxes/cases is like a lottery win in any country,whereby whatever you get is a bonus and if you are unlucky not to get anything well thats the way the cookie crumbles!!!.
You only have to do a little research from other members here and on the world wide super highway that you aren't guaranteed costume/autocards etc.. all the time it's luck.

We all hop we get the best pulls as it's human nature we want the best for ourselves but life ain't that clear cut if it was then collecting would be a dull and less exciting hobby!!!. If he's been collecting like he has in the past than surely he should himself be more of a man and realise this.

Well, I sent him back a picture of a bigger monkey wrench, and he has simmered down now.  Actually I shot him back a pretty intense email explaining that I didn't appreciate his accusations, and I explained that his previous "pulls" made him either the luckiest guy in the world, or a guy drowning in his own B.S.  (said it nicely of course)  And I sent him a link to the nonsportscard forum box breakdown on this set, and told him to read through that and see what everyone else has pulled from boxes.  And I gave him my name and phone number and told him to give it to the "detectives" and the better business bureau, and told him to call me with any more questions.  He emailed back and has settled down quite a bit, so I hope that the situation has dissolved.  Some people's kids drive me nuts
