I just got asked......
'Would you like me to send a WRAPPER for you with that piecework?'

It's a useless piece of foil, Don't you have a binman!!  Hopping Mad
What on earth is the point, I just don't get it!  Huh

OK, calm down, sorry for the rant, But what is this crazy fascination with collecting the wrappers. I've just thrown away about a thousand of these things and now they want to send me another!
Maybe I'm wrong about this and it's like..... 'you haven't really completed that master set, you haven't got a wrapper'
But I just dont get the reasoning behind it, It's trash throw it away don't pass it on to me.

Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.
Does anyone here collect these, and if so can you please tell me why?

I dont "collect" wrappers, but I do have a box-full from each set  Lips Sealed I used to have every box ever opened, but culled a whole heap....

I have had people buy base sets from me, and request a single foil packet from that set...

I usually stick an empty packet with my base sets and also a 'matching' pack (if I have one) into the toploader when I send chase cards. I figure they can keep them if they want, or chuck them. wither way - it reduced the clutter in my room by a tad Wink

At the back of my binder, I put a 4 pocket page with one of each wrapper design in. With Topps wrappers it has the insert ratios on which can be handy to know.

Bogleg never used to keep any wrappers but I now make him keep two of each design in the folders.  Why two?  So that they can be folded in half in a nine pocket sheet next to each other, thus giving the impression of a complete wrapper  Grin Yep I know they are just rubbish but when we look back at really old folders now it seems a shame that we don't know what the wrapper looked like.

It seems to be just personal preference.  I personally don't keep wrappers or boxes, but I know some people feel they don't have a complete set unless they have a wrapper and a box.

Roz that is really a good idea to be able to refer to insert ratios, well topps wrappers for sure.  Most others don't have specific if at all insert ratios.

Yeah. I don't actually collect them but I do keep some from the HP boxes i've bought. I can't afford ca$e$ (maybe that'll change with MM) so I don't really get tired of the huge amount of wrappers. Hey and they smell good!, the same way a new book does ROFL!.

I dont collect wrappers from the sets I buy alot of cards from but if I buy a pack or two at the mall or get one from someone when they send me a card I bought. I just keep the cards in the wrapper and slip them in 4 pocket pages in a extra binder.

Rittenhouse wrappers are valid for the Rewards program - I know some dealers will offer 25 wrappers (or whatever) with a base set to get new collectors interested in the program. But personally, I don't keep any with my sets. Just a personal preference I guess Smiley

Yep,  I keep one of each design, because this info may fade into the mist of time.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them intrinsical, certainly not useless, but maybe ancillary.

Yes it's a pain, but the 1/2 points lost by keeping a wrapper isn't the end of the world Tongue

Well, I do keep them. 2 copies of each design and a nicely folded box too.

Aaaaahhh!

I don't want to sound stupid, But I really couldn't see any point to it.
So thanks to everyone for at least helping me understand, can't say I will start saving them myself.

......except maybe topps.
(a special thank you to Roz what a brilliant idea!!)
