Has anyone checked out the NSU Upcoming card sets page? It lists that Topps next Star Wars set will be Evolution 2 and will be released in July! I don't know about everyone else, but I am EXCITED about this! I missed out on the first Evolution set (released way back in 2001 I believe) so another autograph set from Star Wars is basicly the coolest thing I could ask for! Anyone else excited about this? Think of the Autograph possibilities this time around.
Ray Parks as Darth Maul (he has signed for XMen) Liam Neeson as Qui Gon Jinn (he signed for Batman Begins) Jake Lloyd as a young Anakin (he is a convention guy, I must have seen him at three already, so why would he not sign cards) Plus, I read a rumor that Topps is in early talks with Hayden Christensen to sign for the set...could you imagine if they got any of the big three? Christensen, Portman, or McGreggor?
Just knowing that there is a new autograph set coming out from Star Wars has me sold...but who would you like to see in the set?
Bryan

Natalie Portman has a great sig, I alreay have hers for my Leon:Professional frammed piece, but it would be cool to get hers again.
I also missed out, and wouldn't mind getting this set, depending on autos/sketches and such.

I really don't like the info on the 1/1 cut auto cards they are talking about for this set, and we can talk all we want about possible signers, but until we get something concrete, I'm not getting my hopes up about this set. What'd I'd like to see them do with the Star Wars liscences is have another wide-vision set with some killer autos and wide-vision sketch cards (now those would be cool).

I won't get to far ahead of myself with the goodwill that Topps earned with LOTR Evo. My stance with all Topps products is what until they hit the street and someone posts the info from the wrapper. Even big signers tend to be next to impossible with Topps stuff. At least with a set like XMEN you know you can get a Jackman by buying six cases no matter what. With TOPPS you had to shell out a huge amount of money for Mark Hamil Heritage auto or be the luckiest pack opener ever

Yeah, I gotta say, not like I will pull one, but the cut signatures actually do look cool. Some of the other Sports sets that had cut signatures just looked awful, but they did a good job with these

I kind of agree, it's not like the artist actually signed the card is it. It's just wrong feeling. Sure, they may look nice. But it's sort of like pasting a signed napkin on top of a photo. Not too classy.

I prefer the look of a cut signature set into the card rather than the stickers. I may be not phrasing it right, but the stickers have more of an impersonal feel.

The thing that I hate about the stickers is that Topps can jerk us around on autographs they might acquire. For Example: Without using stickers: If James Earl Jones had signed lets say 500 actual cards, and lets say this product doesn't pre-sell very well, and they have to insert all 500 cards into the set (as there is no point holding onto them, as the card design is specific to this set), we as a collector have a lot better chance to get Mr. Jones autograph. With Stickers: If James Earl Jones had signed lets say 500 "stickers", and lets say this product doesn't pre-sell very well, they can use 200 of the stickers for this set, and save the rest for a different set. Does that make sense. It will especially be ugly if for some reason they manage to get Mr. Harrison Ford to sign some sticker, they could spread a couple hundred stickers from him out over 20 sets, just so that they can put on the advertising that the collector has a chance to get a Harrison Ford autograph. In case my point wasn't clear......I HATE STICKERS!!!!!!!! (autographs that is, normal stickers I have no problem with, especially stars when I was a kid on my graded homework )

Totally agree Stickers suck I collect sports cards as well as Non Sports and as cool as it is to have the signature the signature card is way better. ZTaylorK summs it up perfectly it just opens the door to having consistantly valueless sets.

See this is where I kind of get confused by crazy Star Wars fans, can one of you (crazy obsessive SW fans) please explain why anyone would want most of those autos? I love Star Wars I used to come home from school when I was in Elementary school and put the Empire Strikes Back soundtrack on the record player (yes record player...easy I am only 30 ) and listen to it all the time. I loved SW and still do....however I couldn't want the auto of 6 Jabba the Hut puppeters any less Of course it goes without saying that a few of the signers are highly desirable (Hayden) of which there will be a snowballs chance in hell of pulling that one, but most such minor characters. I don't know maybe I am an idiot for asking, but I don't really understand and I think this is another great example of Topps getting away with a subpar set by having a couple of top notch signers with impossible odds, and of course it is Star Wars and it will sell out.

Hmm, guess I will have a wait before paying the rest of the money on my 2 cases. Hope the insertion rates for the new signers won't be so tough as expected!!
