I am just curious what everyone thinks these box prices are headed, are they slowing down, or will they keep moving upwards.  I really think that this set will dry up and the boxes will keep going up, I just don't know how high.  This set is so different with just sketch cards as opposed to autograph cards or costume cards.  With those other sets its easy to kill the urge to buy more boxes by just completing the master set.  After that opening the boxes is still fun, but it definetly isn't as fun as the 1st box of a product that you open..having none of the inserts.  I feel like my urge to open boxes of this set will never be filled, and don't know how many boxes I should stock up on now to help me survivie over the next few years.  If you compare this set to the first set that topps released, where boxes reached a high of $300 - $400, it make sense these boxes should go higher, as I never understood how anyone could spend $350 on a box of FOTR (hobby) when you can't pull a single card that will go that high (Gimli and Gandalf come close) and you can pull many cards that go for under $100.  It never made sense to me.  This set is loaded with with cards that are worth a lot of money, and they aren't that hard to pull.  1 in 5.5 cases for a Kayanan is not that bad, especially where they are 8 box cases. The FOTR retail boxes also went very high in price, and you only had a 1 in 3 chance of pulling an autograph.  This set has Staggs, Sohn, Cummens, Walks, Kayanan, Hernandez, De liz, MItchell, Rabbitte, Zapata, etc.  I know some people open cases that aren't that great, but I really think that even opening boxes you have great chances to pull great stuff.  It seems that everyone is pulling gems left and right.  Anyways, where does everyone see the box prices in say 6 months?

There are a lot of sketches out there and you've got a good chance to pull those artists that have done 1006 sketches for this set...Fabbri, Frampton, Gutierrez, Hodges, Hodgkins, Martinez, Shum, Della Vecchia and Woodside...and as anyone who has busted a case can tell you...6, 8 or more of the 14 or 15 sketch cards you will pull will be of one of these artists.  Personally I love a great many of these artists and some work of theirs tucked into those 1000 drawings are really great if not downright spectacular...but you will find that a great many sketches in this group...while still 1/1 are multiples of similar images and it is a little distressing to pull 2 'similar' cards by the same artist in a case.  So, as the prices go up and buyers get 'multiple' or 'similar' sketches from artists they already have...I think the Hobby prices will stabilize somewhat.  The elusive GREAT card will be out there but you may be able to find those elusive cards going down a bit on the secondary Ebay market as few people go for the out of line Buy It Now prices.  But who knows...if there's a demand...from serious collectors...or from someone that has just come upon this great set...there will be $$$ out there...I know I have very little $$$ left...whew... Ebay!

I was told by a dealer yesterday that I've got more chance of growing a third elbow than seeing a box for less than £60 in this country  Sad Even the most common retail costumes were going for £35  Shocked Has anyone seen a retail box over here yet?

The costume prices are much less on eBay, except for the rarest cards.  There were two Arwen costume BINs over the weekend that went for $25.99 and 27.99!

Ooh it's almost worth hunting for a box in the US to import and sell you for £59.95 - then you'll have to make with the 3rd elbow!!!
ROFL!

I don't know why they listed those cards so low Cindy - I'd have snapped them up as I haven't got an Arwen yet, those were 2 very odd BINs by people who in all likelyhood cherry picked a box to get them for $2.

Not everyone who sells on eBay knows the worth of their items.  The seller must have thought that getting $26 for a $2 investment was a good deal.  If I weren't saving up for GOFU, I would have BINned one of them.

and now, boxes in the us are 85 dollars, and cases 740. No, this will be a thousand dollar case soon, and sketch cards from the product across the board will be going up. ive been getting 7-8 dollars for horrible sketchs from this product (lets not get into it again, just my opinion and they are mine to sell, so i can be honest and say that a lot of them suck) are up to that price now. I bought a case at 660 recently, and at that price, their is no way im NOT breaking it. Im saving one last sealed case for , cause its like christmas, if im having a super bad day or week or whatever, ill just get the GF, sit down, and open it , instant mood adjuster! lol.

I've often thought about buying a box from a few different releases and opening one when I was having a bad day.  Then I realized that I have absolutely no willpower and would have all of the boxes cracked open minutes after receiving them! Roll Eyes

Could be an instant mood adjustor, I've seen a few case breaks that would possibly put me in a worse mood, but if there is a Kayanan, yes intant mood adjustor.  Smiley
