This week in the UK we had the most amazing documentary about the first Emperor of China.  He was the one that built the Terracotta Army and the Great Wall of China, amongst a whole host of other achievements.  Some of the facts were just astounding - for instance I never knew China was so called because it was the Chin dynasty that united the six different states.

Anyway it was done by Channel Four and I know that some of there stuff is shipped abroad (like the Dragon docu/drama).  If you see it advertised it is well worth a look.  And don't let the two and a quarter hour length put you off, it flies by.

I happened to catch this one as well, and I agree that it was incredibly enjoyable.  It came on here in the US on the History Channel I believe. They focus more on the life of the emperor than say, how he went about exactly building the great wall.  But that made it very interesting because it was a straight documentary about one of the most powerful men who ever lived. 

The man wielded an unfathomable amount of power in an era that I previously had known almost nothing about.

A definete recommendation for anyone even slightly interested in history.
