If you look on IMDB she is very busy.

& probably doesn't think signing her cards should be that high on her todo list. But when she agreed to sign for the set she should have done then straight away.

Though it is probably none of my business, I have often wondered if/how these signers are compensated.

I can only assume that the card companies take one of two paths
1) They offer the actor/actress a reasonable sum of money and fill out a direct contract between the two parties (signer and card company)
2) Signing rights are obtained between the film company (Warner Bros in this case) and the card company.  Then the actor/actress must sign the cards as a sort of contractual obligation.  In this way the two parties would be the film company and the card company.  

I don't know if I was able to word that exactly right, but hopefully you get the basis of my question.


I think that regardless of contractual obligations, actors/actresses have an external obligation to the fans that support them.  So in these cases, when a signer (Miranda Richardson for example) does not fulfill her obligation to take the time to sign these cards, who is she letting down more?  The CARD company, to whom she owes a direct service and is not fulfilling the task of her contract.  OR   The FANS, to whom she owes an indirect service as a public figure.  Or is it both?

Just something to ponder while everyone patiently awaits their Miranda redemption autos

I believe that card companies have to negotiate with each actor.  The actors have an obligation to both the card company and the fans to sign the cards, per the contract.

I think it is ridiculous she can't take an hour out of her day to sign a couple hundred cards.
I'm sick of a redemption card sitting among the rest of my autographs

She is slowly becoming worse than Lara Flynn Boyle in the Men In Black 2 set...it took her a year to get her signature cards back, and she ended up signing not only the signature cards they sent her, but each of the 90 card base set  and Inkworks actually sent those out to people who has redemptions! (I was one of them, and you cannot even begin to beleive how angry I was)

There was enough Auto cards produced for her to sign and enough redeption cards for her. She just decided to sign the base cards and not the ones Inkworks made for her!

My understanding was that she did eventually sign the proper cards and these were issed to people who had sent in redemption cards

WOW!!

I can't imagine what a terrible feeling that must be as a collector to anticipate a redemption for soooo long and then get such a slap in the face.  Seriously, how bad would it be to expect a redemption auto and then recieve Laura Flynn Boyle's auto on a base card with an image of Will Smith, etc.  You would think that Inkworks would have immediately recognized this and done something to make it up to the collectors.  They obviously received the "redemptions" and decided to mail them out.  I guess they were correct in assuming that sending LFB more blank auto cards would not be the most efficient way to solve the problem.  But did they at least include an apology to you, the collector?

So that begs the question, do these signers recieve any sort of monetary penalty for not meeting the time contraints of a contract?

That would be a very acceptable thing to do.  Much better than just tabling the issue.

I never received an official autograph card in place of the autographed base card, however I did e-mail inkworks about it when I received it (this was years ago mind you) and they e-mailed me back that same day with an apoligy and an official statement about what happened.

Inkworks in a great company, and truthfully, I think that is the ONLY hiccup I have ever seen of them.

I was just looking at stuff over at Potomac and they now have the release date listed as 31st May
has anybody heard anything firm on a release date it is getting silly now if it has gone back later again especially with Momerable moments listed as 12th June on potomac site

Well, those dates literally just changed overnight.    Bummer.    I agree, though, it is a bit ridiculous that GOFU would be delayed again and released in such close proximity to the Memorable Moments set. Ah well, hopefully when they are released, we'll all have great pulls!

 Well I've been awhile for bit but have a couple cases of GU coming and emailed Artbox yesterday  and they sent me a few details on inserts etc...
  they said release was late April ....
