Defining variants

Hi guys,
I personally would have thought it was clear - a desireable variant would have a different colour swatch or a pattern on it (from looking at the prop item) that is really rare (eg Gimli's honeydukes card).
But today I noticed 2 "variant cards" on ebay were just 2 with creases in the paper of a dervish and banges bag... are they taking the mick?

Yeah - I got a honeydukes with a bit of glue on it - is that a variant or would you just assume it was "the bottom of the bag"

I hate it when people call it a variant when it has a little discoloration or for example a little glue. A variant should be super premium and have a unique and rare swatch.

Hmmm perhaps but I always thought a variant should be desireable, like the red and yellow Weasley cards or the honeydukes that Gimli has - or your Zonko's card
