I've been reviewing my cache of Tiana Benjamin autographs. Thought I'd post them for comparison with some you may have. 1. The typical most found by me. Thick pen, T of Tiana horizontal, dots over i's and j more or less normal.  2. Signature in cursive. I've never seen another one of these. I have 11 Tiana autographs (had 12.) Anyone else have or seen one like this??  3. No dot over the i of Tiana.  4. Dot of i of Tiana over the n. Dot of the j of Benjamin over the a.  5. Slanted T in Tiana and dot of i over the n. Dot of the j of Benjamin over the a.  6. Slanted T with hook of Tiana. Written in thinner pen. The previous five were in thicker pen.  7. Dashes instead of dots over the j and i of Benjamin  Added #7 on Jan 19. Do I need to get a life or WHAT?  |

Oh thank you! I thought I was going mad. I knew I had seen the fancy second card somewhere but then thought I must have imagined it. Just a shame she didn't sign all of the cards like this.

No comment John!  But ... it's meant I've had to check my own Angelina autograph to see how 'normal' or otherwise it is to those you've posted!  Mine is most like your 1st one John - and if you think of how many it's been reported she's signed then I think she gets tops marks for being fairly consistent with her signatures. The cursive one is a real oddity to all the rest - might it be the very first she signed ... found she didn't like signing in this manner and ditched it in favour of the 'written' signatures? It's interesting to see how they alter very subtly as you go down the pics and I think that's to be expected if you're signing a lot of items in one sitting.  Which out of all them is your favourite and the one you plan on keeping in your own collection John? .... or are you keeping them ALL!?!  |

Hmm.. this begs the question, is a "signature" the same as printing your name? Then again, I can tell by the way she signs that had she continued signing there would have been a ton of smudged signatures. Perhaps printing was the best way to go, but still, one wonders ...
I read a story once about a sports guy who literally put a check mark on the cards and called it his signature. There's just something about that which is so wrong...

Question for Joanna - do they give the signers a special pen to avoid the problem of smudging?

As far as I know, we do send pens along with the cards for signing. But the pens themselves aren' special - just everyday Sharpies you can buy at any office supply store. I know that the cards are coated differently, but that gets into the realm of "Too Technical for Joanna"  |

Thank you I actually thought because the cards were shinny you might have had special pens - after all you rarely see a smudged auto card. Graham has this lovely Voyager picture of all the cast that he is gradually getting signed. When he got one auto, the Doctor I think, he said that Robert had a nice variety of pens so he could pick the one that showed up the best. With Tiana I reckon the fancy signature is her propper one ie for cheques etc. Maybe she realised it wasn't a good idea letting everyone have her real autograph. Shame though because that is lovely. |

It would be nice to know if she did anymore like that.
I remember seeing the Daniel Roebuck as Atrz, "Artz go boom!" variant. I only saw the one that sold on ebay.
I got a Gary Oldman where you can almost make out the name "GARY", imagine.

No, I can't !!!! I have been watching the Tiana autos on ebay ever since you first posted the cursive one. I haven't seen one yet!! I agree with Jules that this may have been one of her first ones and decided against it!!  |

John, you got my curiosity going!!! I had to go check my auto!!
Mine is in the thinner marker with the "T" like the one in #3 you just posted, the dot over the "n" in her first name, no dot over the "j" area and a dot right over the "i" in her last name!!
WOW what a variety!!!

Just an interesting note on pens for signing auto's. There is a hockey player (Brett Hull if you were wondering  ) who will not sign auto's with a paint pen (which is more common for signing jerseys, photos, pucks, etc) when you want a really nice looking sig. Anyway the whole reason behind it is someone gave him a puck to sign and the paint pen to sign it with and the paint pen exploded all over him. Needless to say I am sure he wasn't happy when that happened thus his fear and avoidance of paint pens. |

I pulled two Tiana autos, and both wee the printed auto. I do know someone that pulled a signature version...it's a cool sig, wish I had one.

I like it - is there a name for this fear? If not might I suggest pennaphobia? Penna is the Latin for feather which equates to quill and later a pen - will that do? I daresay Caesar didn't have a paint pen to hand  |

I thought that I had read somwhere that the autograph cards have the UV coating applied after the artist signs them and returns them to the company. I think they mentioned that if the shinny coating was on the card before signing it was hard to get the signature to stick. I don't remember where I read that. perhaps in Non-Sport Update in their series on card production. |
