From what I heard about the ending of X2 (I didn't see it, yet ), I was hoping for a third movie about the Phoenix Saga. Well, I guess the story will be there, but it will be intertwined with another one. I didn't read the comics so I'm not too familiar with the stories, but I used to watch the cartoon on Saturday Mornings. Was there a Phoenix Saga and a Dark Phoenix Saga in the comics like in the cartoon?
I only saw a few of the cartoons but I would say there was a passing resemblance to the comics
A lot of things were changed in the cartoons that I didn't like, such as the order people joined the Xmen.
The Phoenix Saga and Dark Phoenix were amazing in the comics. There was the whole Hellfire Club and that bloke who could alter reality (can't remember his name). This was the point that Kitty Pride (Shadow Cat) originally came into the Xmen. Then there was the Starjammers which lead to the Savage Land. And then back to the Dark Phoenix and Lillandra. The Fantastic Four crossed over for part of the story and, correct me if I am wrong, so did Spiderman. And then there was Madeline Pryor and little Nathan. Oooooo I really must open up those comic cases one last time before I finally decide to flog the lot
