According to British sci-fi and fantasy magazine SFX, Imelda Staunton has been signed up to play Dolores Umbridge in the next Harry Potter movie.  I think she was in Calender Girls with Helen Mirren?

Knocks my suggestion of Prunella Scales out of the window then...

The HP movies are turning into a who's who of the British acting establisment!

And as you can see Imelda doesn't look like a toad.  Not to be unkind but Prunella does have the right "look" which is why I thought she would be perfect for the role.

Yes she would have been perfect if she had been a few years younger.  I just hope they don't do what they did with Hermione and pick a really pretty girl and ignore all her character traits.  Or even worse cut her altogether

lol that rules Liza Kudrow out too not to mention JK's racist casting policy (although Viggo made a sterling effort at a Brit accent as Aragorn there were definite holes in it - so I guess JK didn't want any of that.

But the point is that I think she has to be a fairly ageless (or difficult to tell her age) looking introspective sort of person, or that's how I'd hope she'll be anyway.

Although if she's taller than Harry and Ron that's not going to be good :p

I'm not saying its a bad things because Shirley has done a great job of playing Myrtle but Luna doesnt wear glasses or has her hair in pig tails ether so it would be a little tricker to make her look younger
