Earlier, someone mentioned that Artbox was going to take the PS and CoS movies and release a similar series to the current PoA series. Considering the limited amount of chase signers (those with autos we really want, main characters) I think they should give the first two movies for lost and concentrate their star signers into future sets. If they use them up in the first 3 series, people will quickly lose interest in future sets. Especially if what you say about no repeat signers is true and with potentially 4 more series to go. How many signers can you really get? Look how LOTR went from the massively popular FoTR series to erm... ROTKU? Tongue But then again, there are great auto and prop ops that we would miss out on if we didn't have those releases - Quirrell, Lockhart, Lucius Malfoy (though he will pop up again in OotP I suppose), the basilisk, acceptance letters, Ron's Howler etc.

What do you all think? Huh

They do have a backdated licence so I think they will - face it FTY it's a license to print money!!! Well it is isn't it? Even if it doesn't meet with this kind of success they can be sure to sell out the 600 or so cases they make - if they keep production low they will  keep the interest up = but on the other hand so few people can have a "master set" - Gimli's is the only one I know to exist - even MPC doesn't have one!!!

So low production keeps interest up but means so few people can complete - which I find a bit sad really!

But are they risking the popularity of future releases? I know I'm more excited about a GoF or OoTP release than an CS or PS one... Of course its all about money - do you throw it behind past releases or future ones is the question!

Good point but it will be at least a year and a half before the Goblet movie is out - plenty of time to release PS and CS sets!

Tell me about it - they better hadn't do update sets for those - after all the original reason for updates was because the CG wasn't ready for the original sets

An update set would be disapointing for the rest of the sets, i wish there wasn't an update set for this, i wish they just went straight to CoS  Undecided

Means more spending for me, and when I spend, Roz spends, and ditto for when Roz spends  Roll Eyes

I have to say I was so disappointed with the Sorcerors Stone cards that i think that they should do the films justice lets have two new sets NO UPDATES why would you need them. and I think that the first set should be called

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. No Sorcerors after all that is the real name the one JKR intended for her book.

Couldn't agree more - I will NOT be a fan of that set if it's SS (which it will be)

Hi ALL,
Just thought I would meantion that there was already available a philospher stone set of cards and a chamber of secrets set. Nothing as fantastic as POA but might they find that the market has been covered .
Just a thought

What is it with Update Sets anyway?
Surely they don't do as well as the main release for any particular set.
So you get a few new images from a film that you've probably seen 10 times anyway and by the time the Update set comes out you no doubt own it on DVD and can watch it all at your leisure. Another 90 base cards don't help to tell a story you've already got 90 cards for and watched on film over and over.

The main pieces are the chase cards which for this particular instance they would do better focussing on the two previous films they have the licence for. I'm sure i'm not alone when i say i bought one pack of the set for Philosopher's stone and promptly chucked it in the bin.
There is definate room for improvement.

Is there a precedent where an Update set sold well. LOTR Update sets seem to be a portion of the popularity of the main sets-do they really make money on them?
